  1. The Strong belts might be on the way out, there’s a good chance the Strong tag belts are gonna be unified with the IWGP Tag belts at WK, so NJPW might not care too much if the Strong belt gets unified into something that doesn’t matter too much. With the CC happening during the World Tag League, New Japan might be willing to send an upper card guy over next year to participate.
  2. It’ll be interesting to see who walks out with the new belt. Finlay will be the only NJPW contracted wrestler in the match but brings by far the least star power for a belt that (in theory) is about global expansion. Ospreay currently works all over the world and would probably be the right choice but with him be All Elite now we’ll see if that continues.
  3. If I remember correctly he’s not just transphobic but pretty much anti-LGBTQ+ all around, cause, again if I’m remembering correctly, he left Christianity because he thought it was too tolerant of the LGBTQ+ community which is something to think I guess
  4. Stop trying to make H.O.T. happen Gedo, please. Poor Narita
  5. I know nothing of Hammerstone but this makes him sound like the most middling non-spectacular wrestler ever, perfectly fine but never get me to be too invested or paying to see. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh, but if you added some Mike Rotunda to the mix it would be 100% true.
  6. Tony may have had a committee to decide on Punks future because he was directly involved in the incident and didn’t want to leave Punk any room for suing for it being a retaliation firing cause we know CM Punk can be a litigious fucker. This gives AEW security, even if Tony was going to fire him anyway
  7. Some of those smaller death match guys probably know who also has hepatitis so they can just make sure to drink the blood of whoever matches their type
  8. Would it make sense for Hangman to be the Devil? That would explain why the devil didn’t show up last night. It could work as the two of them we built from the stat of the company to be a hero (Page) and villain (MJF) and now with MJF being a hero maybe Hangman changes alignment for this era of AEW. The henchmen devils could be the Dark Order. The best reason for the devil not showing is that either 1) Cole is the devil or 2) the devil was unable to because of something that happened on the card earlier so either Swerve, Hangman or maybe someone in the ladder match.
  9. I’m sure there’s talent who could pull off a cold interview maybe someone like Regal maybe or someone who really loves the gimmick like DDP. Or the New Day or Iconic Duo, both groups did fun long backstage segments. But most would be being set up to fail and probably just going to end up doing….good….lucha…..things.
  10. Maybe TK will have a NJPW representative in Yujiro Takahashi or Chase Owens to fill their proper role of pin eater. I hoped Lance Archer would be in this to do his monster who can go 2-3 but not lose much shine role he does in the G1 sometimes but he’s filling that in the Tag league instead
  11. The devil is gonna be Andy Kaufman you’ll all see. TK finally found him and convinced him it’s time to payoff the angle and show the world he’s still here, one of the henchmen will be Tony Clifton obviously.
  12. Tony needs to get Yano over for this and put him in the same block as Mox so we can get a rematch of their G1 match (or make it the finals but TK is too much of a coward to have Yano win and take the belt off MJF like he should)
  13. I remember tilt a whirl backbreakers and slams we’re all over the mid card of WCW and some of WWE in the second half of the 90s but then sit out became the new vogue and tiltawhirl loves never really came back in style like they were. Indie wrestlers bring back the tiltawhirls.
  14. I thought that was a good probability when this stuff started up but it’s gone on long enough that I don’t think it’s a work, unless they worked themselves into a shoot with themselves.
  15. Quincy as in Quincy Jones? Didn’t know he worked for them
  16. Knox should face some kind of punishment since this isn’t the first time he fucked up with a talent being out of it. He should have kept counting he made Mox, Feniz, himself, the company and the fans look stupid with his stopping the count for no reason and then didn’t even help direct traffic to take it home and let Mox call it to do it again.
  17. I love Naito dearly but he probably tells his opponents before hand that if he loses consciousness that they can do whatever they want to finish the match. He’s one of the few people even more….committed to their craft than Mox.
  18. I don’t think it was a situation of one or the other either. I’ve been thinking that TK coming from a sports background shows in the talent choices sometimes. If you were looking at a player who you knew could possibly have a couple great seasons given the right circumstances but has some limits in some areas of their game you might not want to give them a big money contract because they might not reach the level they could so if another team gave them a better offer you let them go. It makes sense in the NFL but not really in wrestling because some of the biggest stars had holes in their games but AEW seems to view the women as an economical position like RBs became in the NFL
  19. Jade’s star has a very good chance of burning brightest but I think Hayters star will burn longer so both have a lot of value for a promoter but I wouldn’t fault someone for letting someone go even if they have a good chance of being a huge star if they have some one who can be a big star for them longer.
  20. When iPods where the hotness I’ve went with a Creative Zen also it had a huge amount of storage too (for the time) I think it’s 100 or 200 GB I was able to fit so much stuff on it and the interface was so much easier to navigate than with the iPod wheel thing. I still have it around here somewhere all loaded up with a a shot load of music (and a Regal shoot interview which was always jarring to come up when shuffling but damn it’s entertaining)
  21. I’ve seen things said that he failed for cocaine and “another substance” but nothing from a any of the big name sources so grain of salt
  22. Flogging Molly pits are crazy. I started their set in the front and ended up in the pit and despite my best efforts I bailed by the end of the second song. Those folks were wild, I preferred to stand to the side and enjoy the music much better than feeling like I was fighting for my life.
  23. That lazy submission got me my fastest win in WCW Revenge, 5 second match one setup move and instant submission was never able to do it again
