  1. Does it feel like they are about to split up Kingston's Triple Crown, maybe because Okada holding a New Japan belt would be incredibly weird? Them making such a point to say that Kingston's defense is only for the Continental Championship hinted at the ending pretty strong to me, with Okada getting a shiny belt to wear that doesn't really mess with the AEW storylines for the other belts since most are spoken for in the short term.
  2. This sounds terrible and I don't mean it to sound terrible as I think Caster is funny and good enough in-ring for his role, but in some ways he reminds me of Enzo. Charismatic, good promo gimmick, gets the crowd into it. Should have a long term role as a Godfather/NAO type mid-carder to pop the crowd. But due to real life personality, may not make it long term and if AEW drops Max Caster at any point I don't think any other major promotion would be interested.
  3. Calvin Ridley got serious money, benefit of being under 30 and becoming a FA during a weak WR FA market. Second highest fully guaranteed for a WR.
  4. I know you won't disagree with me here, but I really wish that Danielson would beat Ospreay. For a few reasons. Danielson needs a big win occasionally in these "dream" matches he does, even if he doesn't want to win a title he needs victories occasionally in his big matches or they just become special attractions. I also think it would set up a good story for Ospreay. What does he still need to improve? How does Callis react? Is he really as good as he thinks he is? And on top of that, it would be a surprise since most people will assume Ospreay is winning. I don't believe in a "swerve for the sake of a swerve" but a surprise win now and then is good for the show and its not something that would hurt Ospreay long term. Small added side effect, if they want to keep him out of the title picture for awhile it will give Ospreay a "L" for their rankings. I don't think it would happen, but I do think Ospreay losing would open up more booking options then him winning.
  5. I love Poyer but with the contract he signed, he may not even make Miami's roster. But I hope he makes the team and can go out on a decent note, always seemed like a good guy.
  6. Henry has my respect for going old school beast mode on the Jags in Week 18 for no real reason except he felt like it. Made my Week 18 less stressful.
  7. So are the Vikings just throwing away the season or do they have a secret in mind for QB? Trade up in the draft or just see who falls to 11? Besides the fact you don't want Darnold as your QB, the money he is making is "top end back-up, maybe starter but I hope not" money so I figure they aren't done yet.
  8. More Big Money for the OL, he's the third highest paid guard in NFL History.
  9. Dion Dawkins gave everyone in Buffalo a heart attack for eleven minutes by implying he was leaving the Bills but he was just trolling, he signed an extension. That was one of the easier ways to get the Bills back under the cap, no details yet but assuming its for Big Money.
  10. I'm generally indifferent about the Steelers, but I hope they give Pickett the opportunity to still win the job. If he gets outplayed in the preseason, of course they'd start Russell, but Pickett still could be the "future" while Russell clearly isn't so if Pickett makes the jump they shouldn't hold him back. Year 3 can be "make or break" year for a QB, he could be a bust but sometimes it just takes a few years to fully develop.
  11. Russell Wilson signs a one year, team friendly deal with the Steelers since the Broncos are paying him a lot of money anyway.
  12. Sounds like Mayfield is getting paid, 3/100. I know its not super QB money but its a contract I wasn't ever expecting Mayfield to get after his Panthers/Rams season.
  13. They had a "blow off" match for the angle on PPV in December. The odder part is that Miro never appeared again, although Miro is now saying he is injured so maybe that's 10% of the reason. The other 90% being Miro doesn't seem terribly interested in general.
  14. And I think that's the part I disagree with (while acknowledging I can't back it up). We, wrestling forum posters and chronically online wrestling fans, all know. But my brother didn't know until I told him as he doesn't follow online wrestling news, TK's announcement with the subtle Bo$$ton didn't catch his eye, and he likes Sasha Banks just fine. So my point is more I am sure there are some WWE fans in the Boston area that just aren't online fans that may not be aware. Obviously TK has weighed the pros/cons of how he is doing it and decided this is the best course, my only argument is that it couldn't have *hurt* to properly announce it instead of having it obvious to online wresting fans.
  15. Its impossible to prove but I believe somewhat strongly that if they had done local advertising on TV (using New Japan footage) and on signage with her debut, it would have helped ticket sales. Whether it would have been 50 tickets or 1,000 tickets I have no idea but it couldn't have hurt.
  16. I remember in the old days, there was a rumor that WBD wanted AEW to have less 'surprise' debuts and rather wanted them announced, because then maybe more people would watch if their favorite wrestler was going to appear. The way that AEW doing it now is really weird and I don't understand how it benefits the promotion. Someone "leaked" that Okada would be on Dynamite so some people knew, but why not announce it in advance? Same with Sasha, all the online people know she is appearing but why not make it a big press release? Billboards in Boston with Sasha's face on it, telling everyone she will be at the show? Not every wrestling fan is online and reads wrestling news, and while TK heavily implied it with his announcement last month, why not just hype it properly? I don't think there was a mention on Dynamite at all, even a hint, of what should be a big deal to AEW. I understand there are times the complete surprise pop works, and I like it for PPVs (for example when Bryan Danielson showed up), but doing *wink wink* debuts for Dynamite seems silly. Sasha and Okada are two wrestlers that deserve a proper (minimally) weeks-long build-up both on TV and equally importantly local advertising, not every wrestler debut has to be under the radar or non-advertised.
  17. I meant a joke on Tyson's end, not Paul's end. Paul's motivations are very clear. If Tyson needs money he could have done the Holyfield fight a couple years ago or box Oscar De La Hoya or something.
  18. All respect to the legend that is Mike Tyson but I am assuming this will be an exhibition fight with big ol head pads as he's 57 and clearly doesn't have the quickness/strength of Paul anymore. I know we all enjoy clowning Paul and its fun to do but he's been professionally training full time for years at this point, I don't want to see Tyson unconscious on the mat. Hopefully its all a joke.
  19. Fletcher has 30ish matches in AEW and 20ish matches in ROH (plus holds a title from there) along with a pre-AEW and current AEW backstory with their association with Callis. Obviously anyone is well within their rights to not enjoy his wrestling but he's not exactly an unknown to AEW audiences. It wasn't exactly a big "in ring" night for Dynamite so they may as well have main evented compared to the other matches on the card.
  20. I'm not happy of course with Von Miller's output since his injury but Miller had all the leverage as the Bills couldn't cut him this year without a massive cap hit. So him taking a pay cut with probably impossible incentives to fully meet is nice of him. That pretty much gets the Bills back to even, without doing any major restructures or extensions (just a couple small ones that netted a few mil). Its a brutal business but they mostly cut players that were old, injury prone, old and injury prone, or ineffective. If they draft well and get a couple key FAs I don't expect a serious "Rams 2022"-like drop in productivity. Although admittedly I am concerned about the Center position.
  21. Rasul Douglas, Kaiir Elam, Taron Johnson, and Christian Bedford say 'sup'. Also, Hamlin is a safety. I'd expect you to know better the defense that held Tua to a 62 passer rating when the Dolphins just needed a win (or tie!) to capture the division
  22. Bills went scorched earth today, releasing Tre'Davious White (post-June 1st), Jordan Poyer, Mitch Morse, Siran Neal, Deonte Harty, and Nyheim Hines. While they were way over the cap, they didn't have to release all those players as there were other options (restructures mostly) to get compliant, so I assume this is the Bills making moves that won't just kick the can down the road so they aren't in cap hell every offseason. Or they will still do those restructures so they can go after some Free Agents they have their eye on.
  23. It has been announced Arch Manning is opting out of the NCAA game, to "focus on playing football." Does he think being in the game means he has to play it? More likely of course someone in his very famous family advised him not to if the money wasn't right considering their "famous name" but that would at least be a real reason. On the plus side, the game is "87% of the way to their goal" for opt ins. Ewers, Travis Hunter, Carson Beck, Jalen Milroe, and Dillon Gabriel have all opted in. It should be noted the pay to players is $600 and a free copy of the game. I know that doesn't sound like much (because it isn't) but they've already hit 10,000 player opt-ins, and it would have been a logistical nightmare to come up with different dollar amounts for every player based on their popularity. I wouldn't be shocked to find out later though that the top players got a little extra money, especially whoever ends up on the cover.
  24. Broncos should be investigated for how that all went down but as long as Russ gets the money they owe him it'll probably just fade away.
