REBOOTED Feb 2017 Wrestling Discussion
Kevin Wilson replied to RIPPA's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
I enjoyed the SD show I went to last summer, but the NXT show had much better pacing. I mean I get it, of course something being filmed for TV is going to be different but I really like the house show atmosphere. I've never been to a bad house show, I have been to bad TV tapings. -
I have always loved Zombie, helped by the fact he was in the best MMA fight I've ever seen live, so I am stoked that he came back after such a long layoff and got a first round KO.
-
I wasn't disagreeing he should be in, just pointing out this isn't the first time this has happened and is just the nature of the beast when its media people doing the voting, which is how the NFL set it up for whatever reason.
-
He should be in. We all know why Owens hasn't been inducted yet, I don't think anyone denies his stats are good enough. But its not just based on stats, I think he is being punished for being a shitty teammate for quite a few years. He'll get in. Plus WRs for some reason take longer to get than other positions, that I have no explanation for. But I dunno why anyone could care that much, Hall of Fames never are about just the best players, there is always politics involved. To be fair, the one year he was on the Bills, Terrell Owens was both a solid teammate and player, he did improve on that as he got older. And one could certainly argue they need to change the voters from media to former players but I don't see anything that major happening. At least the NFL HoF doesn't mind giving people 100% of the votes, that has always annoyed me about MLB. Who the hell wouldn't vote for Greg Maddux based on anything. Grumble.
-
He'll get in, in all the sports they tend to make one-time assholes wait a few seasons. On one hand it isn't fair, on the other hand the voters are humans and some things are going to impact their votes. He'll probably get in next year.

Kaep is reportedly officially done with San Fran to the surprise of no one. Will be interesting to see what kind of interest/money offers he gets. Between him and Romo, always something interesting going on each offseason.

UPCOMING VIDEO GAMES (2017 & Beyond)
Kevin Wilson replied to RIPPA's topic in COMPUTERS & GAMES & TECH
I just feel bad for anyone that put in money for Pro Wrestling X. That game has literally been in development for 10+ years, its been on Steam for 2.5 years and still isn't close to done. People need to do a bit of research before giving money to some of these developers. -
I think the chances of Gilmore being a Bill next year are about 10%. He wants the biggest contract he can get, which I don't blame him for, but he won't get it from the Bills. They *might* tag him, that's the only way I see him being on the team. He wants Top 5 CB money and traditionally the Bills let secondary players walk when they want the big bucks (Byrd most recently). While picking up a CB in the draft may work, they have bigger holes to fill (namely safety and probably LB if they don't resign Brown/Alexander), so I doubt they'd be able to draft someone that is Day 1 Ready in the mid-rounds. They also need WR help since their #2 and #3 WRs are FAs. There are many reasons I don't envy GMs, there are so many moving parts and while I am pro-salary cap it does make life more difficult. I really don't know what the Bills' plan is this offseason with so many free agents. I am not anti-Romo, I think he is a very good QB, I just don't think he is worth $20 million with his injury history/age unless the Bills are really confident in Cardale developing into a starter to take his place down the road.

That's good. I guess the December show will just be lost in the abyss. Semi-Main of that show looked really good.

Not that they asked me but I wouldn't be in favor of in essence trading Tyrod for Romo, nor do I think Romo would want to play in Buffalo. I think that is based off one report but I hadn't seen anything from either side implying that is really something either side is looking to do. Nor do the Bills really have the cap space to do that as they have 23 Free Agents. Not all of which will be re-signed of course but if they aren't than someone else has to be signed in their place in that position. Trading Tyrod's cap hit for Romo's cap hit would mean the Bills would have about ~20ish with way too many other gaps that need to be filled. But I still doubt any team will trade for Romo with his current contract with lasts until 2019 with a 20 mil cap hit all three years, so I am going with that until something more legitimate comes out.

Slightly off topic but NOAH has definitely fallen behind, I think DG and DDT have passed them in the last three years or so. I'm not even sure if AJPW is #3. Course its hard to get an exact ranking as it would depend on what was used to measure between TV deals, number of shows, attendance numbers, etc.

Something that hasn't been mentioned is SEAdLINNNG's last two shows weren't taped for TV (as far as I know). So I hope that if they are signing new wrestlers that they have at least gotten that sorted out, I don't know how airing on Nico works but lots of small promotions do so I hope they will put their new shows on there. If they continue not having their events air anywhere and don't sell the events online, they won't be able to rise too much above Diana level since only 700 people will be able to watch them every two months.

I think people that either don't have to play Zelda right way or don't have to have every console right away can safely wait until at least the holidays to pick one up and not miss much. The library will be bigger by then and there will likely be announcements about Pokemon, Smash, etc. by then as well. They are selling it like they are intentionally rolling out games slowly since with the DS they had a decent launch but then nothing for eight months, but I don't know if that is just 'spin'. I think new Mario + Zelda + Mario Kart (I never played 8 on Wii U) is too much for a Nintendo fan to pass up on, but normal people can probably resist for at least awhile

Well the feeling is that since Jerry loves Romo, he isn't going to trade him to like Cleveland, it would only be a team that Romo wanted to go to. I think any team would be crazy to take a 25 million dollar cap hit for 2017, and give up draft picks, for a soon to be 37 year old football player with an injury history that hasn't played a full season since 2014. I could absolutely see a team give him an incentive-laden contract that could earn him 20 million a year as when healthy I still think he has the skills, but paying full price to him seems crazy. But I guess we will find out soon enough

Except unlike Fresh, I can't be run off because someone calls me names I have every console, I am a console fan boy.
-
I don't consider La Confora a high end source, he just regurgitates anything he hears from agents. So he is occasionally right but not usually. Any team would be dumb to trade for Romo, since the chances of the Cowboys keeping him with that salary cap hit are slim to none. Just wait until he is cut and he will likely be cheaper, plus the team wouldn't have to give up anything.

McCain being actively anti-Trump is amusing. I guess he remembers Trump calling him a coward for being captured, not all things are easily forgiven and I am sure he feels very comfortable in his position.

Well I have a Subway literally in the building where I work at, which is the only food place we have, so its crazy convenient.
-
It doesn't bother me any. I have PS Plus and XBox Gold also, and while they give a lot of free games I've probably played one or two of them total in the last year. What will matter will be the quality of free game and how good their deals are, for me the free games PS Plus and Gold offer aren't usually very appealing. It will also have the exclusive deals, so again it is people complaining about a service before they even see what the service offers. And to me, yes, it is worth $2 to play SMB3 for a month, I am concerned it will be worse games than that, but if they add legitimately good games then even better. I just can't fathom a world where $25 a year is too much for anything, hell I've spent that much just eating at Subway this week. I probably eat too much at Subway.
-
On an unrelated note, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima announced that the online service will be 2,000 to 3,000 yen for the yearly plan (I dunno if they haven't decided or he was being intentionally vague). Since I imagine it will be a round number to us too, I'd guess that would translate to $20 to $30 a year.

It would have been nice if they had included a digital download for ARMS or 1-2-Switch, but I think bundling with Zelda would have been a poor financial move on their part. If they sell 2 million units in the first month as is, I think it is safe to say at least 20% of those people are buying Zelda as some people have been anticipating it for years. That is just way too much money to leave on the table as a company, and I don't know if it would have actually led to many more units sold. People buying the Switch now are people that would have brought it one way or the other, bundling Zelda just would have hurt their bottom line. I don't think at launch a system has included the #1 game people would buy anyway since the SNES, and no home console at launch has had an included game since the Wii. I mean its already sold out everywhere, I don't think it would have benefited them to bundle Zelda. But I wouldn't be surprised if for the holidays they bundle it with a game. They are getting the hardcores now, but when it comes to getting kids around the holidays I think they may add in a little something to sweeten the pot. Or have one with a new 'skin' like they love to do with the DS.

Nintendo isn't playing around, they have a commercial this year during the Super Bowl: The longer version of the ad shows more but I think they were smart to focus on the portability/Zelda rather than ARMS/1-2-Switch for the 30 second version.

Since I know people love reading other people's rankings and shaking their head at them, I finally finished my ranking of the Top 20 Joshi Wrestlers of 2016. I use my own made-up criteria but its partially kayfabe and isn't a ranking of who I think is the best in-ring. Here is how I ranked them, the hyperlink provides more details:

It also depends on how passionate people still feel in 1.5 years, and if the people that voted for Trump that don't normally vote will come out and vote for Congress elections. And it Trump has done enough to keep his voters happy. What partially happened with Obama (course its more complex than this) is the droves of people excited for what he offered in 2008 didn't vote at that same level in 2010 and Democrats got trounced. But its too far away to make any predictions, I just don't see anyone in congress going outside the lines until it gets closer to that date.
