  1. From the NFL Predictions thread.... BEST RECORD: NO NFL SOUTH: NO Biggest Turn Around (winner-to-loser) Atlanta (I also picked the Giants to win the NFC East, but...) As for this week, ehh. Panthers are good enough defensively but I'd not be shocked if AP went bananas. Let's call it 21-17 Vikes.
  2. I see Freeman on the Jags, because he's better - fact - than Gabbert. Then again, so is Teebs and they didn't sign him either. Who knows. I will say this whole scenario proves that black QBs are still held to a higher standard. He has played poorly this year and much of last year, but he had a phenomenal 2011 and has 100% done more in the league than Matt Cassel, Kevin Kolb, and Matt Flynn combined. Yet he just got cut. That said, rumour has it he's a cokehead also, so there IS that.
  3. Well, it was counter productive to the #fireronrivera cause, but if they can keep playing and being coached in the manner they were today, I can accept it. Lotta encouraging things in that game, although it probably helps that the Giants have a miserable offensive line. He and Shula still need to go, post-season, unless we wind up in the playoffs.
  4. I gotta say, I've never been an Apple guy. My total Apple ownership in life has been a fishbowl iMac way after that was old and an iPod Nano. I'm an Android guy through and through. I'm seriously considering a 5S. 64GB in Space Gray, please. All the things I dislike - exorbitant cost, non expandable everything - are still true but the combination of the hardware and software is epic this time out, Apple is finally not way behind in specs and iOS7 is beautiful and very functional, even if alot of the iconography is terrible. I'm certain I'll puss out and get the LG G2 as I've always planned to, ever since I activated my HTC 8XT and attempted and failed to love Windows Phone, but I'm fucking digging the 5S.
  5. No, I want Carolina to get rid of the scourge that is Ron Rivera. Oh, I see what you did there.
  6. Giants/Panthers oughtta be terrible. I am of course rooting for the Giants. Bye week next week is a great time to make a change at head coach and I don't see it happening unless we lose convincingly. In truth I don't see Richardson doing it during the season but a man can dream. More seriously, Green Bay/Cincinnati should be fun.
  7. Last one. I feel like being a Panthers fan is like being in an abusive relationship. I keep hoping things will change, but they keep coming home drunk and beating me. #fireronrivera on twitter
  8. I hope not. Every loss gets us closer to getting rid of Rivera. Every loss gets us closer to Jadeveon Clowney. This team is a loser. Let's at least lose with gusto. We should sign Tebow and start him.
  9. #fireronrivera Can't wait to see Clowney on this defense.
  10. RE: why be a Panthers fan I grew up in Greenville SC. I live in NYC now, but I hate the Giants. Being a Jets fan seems absurd - I think their ownership/management looks down on their fanbase, ala porn producers or VKM - so I'll stick with who I came with. Also, for all my whining about the offense today, and yes, we've stunk out the joint, the defense has again strung together quite a good game, and once we wrap up 4-12 and get Clowney we should be awesome.
  11. I have Alfred Morris, Adrian Peterson and Stevan Ridley (flex) as my fantasy RBs, and I'm watching the Panthers and Bills play the more boring, horribly played game in NFL history. There's a reason the drinking has already started.
  12. That was a stupid challenge. On the plus side, we're definitely in the running for Jadeveon Clowney. Although I'm sure we'll rip off a nice run at the end of the year and fuck ourselves outta that, because we're not even particularly good at losing. Gonna be a long year.
  13. Coach Rivera - of #fireronrivera - says the Panthers gameplan on Sunday was too conservative. In other Panthers news of similar obviousness, Weinke's not the QB anymore. It'll be interesting to see what less conservative means this week against the Bills. A close loss to Seattle is one thing, a loss to the hapless Bills would be pretty bad.
  14. I finally watched the Robocop trailer. I'll never ever watch it - the original is probably top 10 for me - but good goddamn does it look horrid. Of course it drops in February, which means the studio also thinks it looks horrible. I immediately distrust the taste of those who think it looks good.
  15. This ultra conservative, take no chances bullshit doesn't work anymore. I dunno if it's the way Rivera wants it - questionable - or Richardson - more likely - but it's not cutting it. They could and should have won today, a throw instead of a run on 3rd and 2 here, a 4th down attempt there, but they didn't and it sucks and I hate the Carolina Panthers.
  16. I hate this team with every fiber of my being. I wish I didn't hate the Giants so much, being a Giants fan seems way more fun than this.
  17. Stop me if you've heard this one... Panthers conservatism leads them to be losing a game in which they've handily outplayed their opponents. #fireronrivera lives.
  18. Yeah, I was just gonna say 89's gonna make him the fourth teammate he beat up. Great minds...
  19. I know the percentages, but I really wish we tried to make a play there. 7-3 Panthers is still better than I expected.
  20. Ok, so there's the Panthers I know. Frank Alexander should be bagging groceries on Monday. Or worse, signing to the Jets. We don't need that crap.
  21. I may have just jumped off my bed here in Brooklyn and done the Clark Kent to Superman dealie in my Cam jersey. That may have just happened.
  22. No, what reeks of entitlement is quitting your job because you believe the very fans that propelled you to this level of success are too dumb to understand your brand of humor. From a guy whose prior well-known work consisted of a dead diabetic horse as a major plot device. Maybe he should've restricted box office sales to card-carrying MENSA members only. Why are his motives relevant? Do you own Viacom stock? If not I fail to see how his decision to leave affected you in any way except that you totes wanted more Chappelle Show.
  23. To me, the goofiest part of this discussion is that the "take his ball home" rhetoric smacks of entitlement. He gave the world two seasons of arguably the best sketch show ever. What he did after that is colossally irrelevant. As for the Hartford gig, I thought he was still being funny, personally. I don't think it's the same as doing his act, to be sure, but I do think he was still entertaining and I think it's all being blown way out of proportion. Mountains and molehills and all that.

  25. (disclaimer: I work for Sprint. The views expressed in this post are mine alone and do not reflect the views of Sprint Corp, any Sprint vendors, Microsoft, or anyone except Vince Greene) I got assigned the HTC 8XT as the device advocate which means I use it a while, show my colleagues around it, and then get it for free. For all the steps Microsoft has made to improve Windows Phone, the lack of a competent Facebook app or any Google apps at all means this is going to be a rough couple of months. I miss my SGS3 desperately already, after two days. Really is quite a shame, the OS is nice. Aspects of it are far beyond Apple or Android. But when the basic apps are so terrible - or non-existent - it makes it hard to recommend.
