  1. Jose Altuve fractured his thumb last night and will need surgery. Astro’s aren’t sure how long he’ll be out. Oh, well, letting the pros play was fun while it lasted.
  2. Same. I like Geoff Johns quite a bit, but I can definitely do without the Shazamily, so I’m hoping we get a good book that’s closer to the classic version of the character.
  3. I wonder how much of the Dom stuff is true. I’m assuming he and Rey have a close relationship in real life, but Rey probably was on the road for most major events in Dom’s life
  4. Agee’s. It’s not as well booked as the NFL (what is?), but probably ahead of WWE, AEW, most celebrity bake-offs, and pickleball.
  5. What’s the CAW community like for WWE games these days. I haven’t played a WWE game since SVR 06. I assume you can go online and import CAWs directly into the game? Lol, last time I played a WWE game, I had to use a GameShark to move saves from a USB stick. I assume you can download CAWs and edit movesets and what-not? Movesets of in-game wrestlers are still editable, right? How many CAW slots do you have to work with? Thanks.
  6. Also, double-digit seeds have been Purdue’s kryptonite the past 3 years. They lost to North Texas (13 seed) in the first round in 2021 and St. Peter’s last year. Last year’s loss was in the Sweet 16 but still (St. Peter’s was a 15-seed that had an incredible run). Clearly, the gameplan for next year should be to win just enough games to make the Tournament as an 8 seed.
  7. WWE ‘23 has personality logic now? How does it compare to, say, Fire Pro? Couple reviews I’ve seen so far have been good, so I’ll probably buy it this weekend. Going to do a deeper dive into reviews tomorrow or Sunday,
  8. He had back surgery. Last I heard, Meltzer was saying there’s no time table for his return and the company isn’t sure he will return. That was a couple months ago (January, I think).
  9. It’s been confirmed. He was found dead in his home. Appears to have been natural causes.
  10. Kennesaw State has been in D1 since 2005-06 season. This was their first season with a winning record. Gutted for the kids. They outplayed Xavier for about 30 min and had a 13-point lead with 10 min left, and the wheels came off. They missed a number of open, relatively “easy” shots down the stretch and looked like they were going to make a layup to go ahead by a point with less than two seconds left in the game (shot was blocked).
  11. Even the good reviews are convincing me I don’t need to see this.
  12. I want to agree with this (well, maybe not Claudio), but, at the same time, AEW is most interesting to me when they push guys I haven.’t watched elsewhere for years. I watched the show fairly regularly during the first year when it looked like they would build around Hangman, Allen, Jungle Boy, etc. By the time Hangman dropped the title, I was barely watching the shows at all. I didn’t plan to watch Dynamite last night, but the basketball game wasn’t particularly close, so I surfed by a bit past eight, saw the “four pillars” in the ring, and got hooked enough to watch an hour of the show. I have zero internet in watching most of the ex-WWE guys get pushed hard - Mox and Jericho are a bit of an exception since they jumped on day one of their own volition - and, as much as I like the Elite, I’ve been watching them so the same act for 15 years or so. Put another way, I’ll probably watch to see where MJF-Sammy-JB-Darby goes. Even the Mox-Page feud - which I feel like should hook me - hasn’t gotten me to watch the show. Also, Jarrett got me interested enough to watch an Orange Cassidy match. Dude’s a gosh-darned miracle worker, lol.
  13. I’ve liked Succession since the first episode, but, yeah, it fell into a pattern very quickly. Characters don’t so much evolve as just get shuffled around. Someone plays the heel for awhile, someone plays the dupe, someone plays at being smarter than the rest. Then, when that runs its course, the cast plays musical chairs and someone else gets to be the smart one, someone new becomes the dupe, that character you didn’t expect to turn on the rest of them turns on the rest of them, etc. i feel like the show has fallen into that trap shows like the Black List fall into into that it tries too hard to keep viewers guessing and runs through a decade of plot twists very quickly, burning viewers out too soon. Still eagerly awaiting season four, though. Mostly relieved there will not be a season five.
  14. You make it sound like it’s a bad thing….
  15. The eight game suspension includes the six games Morant already missed. He’ll be eligible to play Monday.
  16. Counterpoint: Aaron Rodgers is a magnificent weirdo and, say what you will, he’s seldom boring. I mean, I’m fairly sure he’s going to play for the Jets next season, but I won’t be shocked if Rodgers announces his retirement. Or that he wants to stay in Green Bay. Or that he smoked laundry detergent last night and had a vision that there is life on Mars and he is meant to be Earth’s first goodwill ambassador (poor, poor Martians). If it’s anyone else, I don’t think you get this far down the road without the decision being a foregone conclusion, but with Rodgers, who knows for sure? Besides, what else do we have to cover after this? Lamar Jackson can talk to teams beginning today, but I’m imagining that ends with him sitting sadly at home staring at a phone that never rings.
  17. Several people were close enough to overhear the conversation and are backing Irvin’s version of events.
  18. I’d be afraid to sing karaoke with Minoru Suzuki. Either I’d botch the lyrics or my terrible singing voice would annoy him. Either way, the evening being probably ends with him choking me the f*** out, Babyface Dolph Ziggler says hi. He was hot during his first heel run and they probably has something with him, AJ Lee, and young Big E as his scary black sidekick. So of course the company turned him face and told him to go out and be happy and smile a lot. They stripped out the heel bits of the character’s personality and didn’t give him anything to replace those bits with, so he was boring af as a babyface and he eventually stopped being over. He was interesting as a heel. He was generic blond babyface #43 after the turn.
  19. I guess I should know who you are referring to but I don’t. Orange Cassidy? Daniel Bryan? Lance Hoyt? Stone Cold’s evil twin?
  20. Lol, this is faint praise considering Corbin’s latest repackaging failed to get over even with JBL to talk for him, and Triple H seems to keep Elias on tv mostly to function as a piñata.
  21. “Sadly, most history books downplay the fact that fighting the Revolutionary War was an upper-body business. Far fewer lives would have been lost if someone had counseled American infantrymen not to skip leg day.”
  22. Lol, Ja’s agent and pr people are earning their money. As someone on ESPN radio observed this morning, one of the easiest ways to avoid taking real responsibility is saying “addiction”. “Mental health issue” works too. Say either of those two buzzwords and you get a lot of sympathy and often a pass to keep doing what you’ve been doing, at least for awhile. i’m curious to see where this goes. It seems less like a mental health/addiction issue and more like an entitlement/didn’t leave the lifestyle behind issue. Jay Williams was something on his ESPN radio show today. Basically he went on a rant that circulating stories and pics from the strip club amount to a smear campaign because lots of nba players go to strip clubs daily while on the road and throw lots of money at the dancers. It’s the polite thing to do, you see. Nothing unusual about it at all. I like Jay and listen to the radio show a few days a week, but this had me laughing hard. Although, if you’re spending that much time in a strip club, maybe you do have an addiction issue. Anyway, good for Ja’s people for trying to save the brand before he does too much damage. And maybe he is legitimately getting help? If it is a mental health or addiction issue, we shouldn’t see him again this season, at a minimum. I’m going to be skeptical when he fixes himself and rejoins the club just in time for the playoffs.
  23. Is Flair already in the Hall of Fame? ‘Cause Ric announcing himself as the next entry then doing his own induction would be very much on brand.
  24. My impression from listening to Meltzer is that Bray fancies himself some sort of artiste and would double-down on the spooky if left to his own devices. Supposedly, the original plan was to have the Wyatt characters engage in some sort of epic battle of good and evil with the stakes being the souls of mankind. Said war would have been settled in a wrestling match for… reasons. The same reasons that had Irwin R. Shyster punishing tax cheats by wrestling them instead of, I dunno, levying a fine or bringing charges. Bray has a lot of charisma but his greatest talent seems to be convincing people he’s some sort of wrestling savant instead of just a dude with his head too far up his butt who needs a filter.
  25. Meltzer and Alvarez talked about the long-term plan for Bray back when he came back. It sounded horrible. And pretentious, All of his puppets taking human avatars. Sister Abigail being reincarnated as someone on the women’s roster. All the various Bray characters having a bleeping wrestling match to fight the age-old war between good and evil and decide the future of humanity Lol.
