Sure scheduling matters, but opening at 70 million, with an A CinemaScore is still pretty impressive. If people wanted to see Detective Pikachu, they would’ve seen Detective Pikachu, and it would’ve opened bigger. I’ve also heard from people that this seems to be a very adult crowd watching this movie, and not children. That makes sense given the way they cast this movie, and advertised it. They were looking for the 18, and over crowd, rather than the under. Detective Pikachu concept was too small of scope for something that should be more grand for a tent pole project. It also doesn’t help that DP isn’t the product that any of your target audience is aware of.

That’s on The Butcher. His job in tag matches should be the guy who tosses people around, and then tag his partner back in to do the technique offense. He has gotten better in recent weeks, since it’s the first time I’ve really noticed him throwing his weight around like the bulky heavyweight he is. Edit: Okay, I do also think the agents should’ve stepped in too. I hope the past couple of weeks is a sign that the officials are more in control of the structure of these matches.

It’s a smart grift. No fight training camps, less dangerous worked environment, and he only has to come in for one match, or two. Pro wrestling is the easiest grift for pro athletes as long as you aren’t convinced to be a regular. Brock currently has the best of both worlds. He left before his prime, and came back without his body already being broken down, and now he’s the top guy again, with his demands are always being met even if he still comes in for more than one match a year.

Actually the lack of blood in TV cage matches(Although WWE has been the only real TV wrestling for the past two decades) has desensitized people on the cage gimmick. Putting blood back in it would juice it up for nostalgic, and new fans. But at the same time I feel the blood should be saved for PPV. Not just for sensitive advertisers, but to save the gimmick of blood being overexposed to a national audience, and keep it special.

Apparently Sonic could potentially out gross Detective Pikachu. Think about that. The movie based on a character, and video game that are past their cultural relevance will surpass the one based on the still relevant Pokemon franchise. Is this buried nostalgia, Jim Carrey, or maybe the ads really worked on movie goers? One things for sure, Game Freak really shouldn’t have pushed for a Detective Pikachu movie before the game was on store shelves. I could understand a TV show because of the high chance of success with that genre for television, but a movie felt like it was pushing it.

I watched a bit. Remember when I said “...I bet the under every week I’d make a shit ton of money”? This looks like the week I should start doing it. After the week 1 high everybody has come down to earth, and we are seeing the real skill of talent on display.

Animal Kingdom is pretty rad, but it’s not like a 500+ episode detective show that can hold an audience into your prime time programming.

Why not just go with the good old standbys like Law & Order, or whatever the popular procedurals are now?

I disagree on the that tag match Curt, I thought SCU did a enough different to set the match apart from the cruise match. I especially loved the moment near the end where Bryce wasn’t going to allow a double submission to take place. On that note, they’ve really tightened the tag rules the past couple of weeks to make it less chaotic. Or the wrestlers are doing a better job following the imaginary rules.

I have various doubts about him claiming he isn’t pulling a Road Dogg on marks.
