  1. Shockwave had a match September of last year. I’m sure they’re available for bookings to proclaim they are the almighty.
  2. My guess is FTR wins and Mox & Claudio return from their world tour to challenge having previously bested them. If done right could be a very interesting story. If not, darn.
  3. Speaking of speaking of the AEW Championship, Samoa Joe is our champion.
  4. In 3-4 months she’ll be in a barbed wire death match. Give it time.
  5. For some former WWE talent it takes a bit to get acclimated to AEW’s way of doing promos and stories. Mercedes, Saraya, Cope, Christian, Miro, and I’m imagining hundreds more that makes my point not stupid.
  6. I could beat up Roderick Strong. When he goes for a backbreaker he’ll discover I don’t have a spine. Quick roll up, I WIN
  7. If I had a time machine I’d book a four way tag: Best Friends vs F.I.S.T vs The Colony vs The Dude Busters
  8. Eh, they’re a midcard team that can be used for either funny moments or a needed mid show feud. I can respectfully see not liking them (Chuck Taylor might be an acquired taste). RAMBLE: Maybe I’m fond of them being the thing that made me smile in the original AEW. More so than the JungleSquad or Private Party. I really feel connected with Best Friends. They don’t really need to do much (I’d like a thanks for your service title run but…) I’m just happy they’re still there to make me smile. For body shapes, I know this is a tough topic. I like how OC is skinny and wrestles a unique way to take on the big bullies and sexy athletes. I love how I could see me having a spicy chicken sandwich with Chuck Taylor after he Awful Waffles someone. I’m nowhere near them in actual shape, but I relate to them and maybe subconsciously cheer them on because of it. They’re also willing to be silly. Don’t take life to seriously and I can relate to that. In a brawl I’m sure they’d get beat up pretty good but at the same time I wouldn’t count them out. They got whatever It is. I also like how AEW has groups that support each other, I don’t watch New Japan much but it’s how I assume they operate. Even hip hop. Tupac has the Outlawz, 50 Cent has G-Unit, Busta Rhymes has Flipmode, Eminem has D-12, etc. It’s cute seeing Orange Cassidy and Statlander have the Best Friends. Willow and Danhausen are like Wu-Tang affiliates Redman and RA The Ruggedman. Yuta leaving was cool. I wish more happened with it, but I remembered that was fun. They really helped established Yuta’s personality before his full on BCC dickish antics. I forget the specific match, but I love the shot of them walking up the ramp completely bloodied and dazed after a victory. It just felt like AEW and I was so happy to see it.
  9. I think along with of the wackiness of the Arcade match, the street match protected PnP by having Orange Cassidy make a surprise attack out of the truck of a car. Thinking on it, Best Friends have usually been presented as underdogs or at least not the dominate force of a match until someone outside from Chaos or something joins to even things out.
  10. Ok, so I’m checking with Dolfan to see if my bit goes too far. Stay tuned.
  11. March…..Maaaaaad……nesssssssss……
  12. I credit Total Divas for being here. The episode where Trinity and Alexa argued over Mark Henry vs Dean Malenko and they name dropped this place. Next thing I know I’m stuck here trying to name drop stuff to get likes. Hey guys, remember D’Lo Brown?
  13. I wish. That last Dynamite adventure you went on looked fun.
  14. Honestly, in terms of the Austin comparison, I think a good example is how Brit Baker got more over being in the wheelchair with Reba. Saying that, I’m impressed with AEW’s respect towards the wrestlers privacy. We don’t know what’s going on and if the best advice is to rest than please rest. Examples can be pulled where a return from injury is booked well and makes for an impactful moment. Also where it kills momentum. Wrestling storytelling is an interesting medium where there are so many factors that can play into making something great or bad: What city they’re in, unexpected injuries, other people becoming more over, controversies forcing change, botched in ring moment, etc. Do I think an injured Yuta being on tv adds to anything? Probably not but I’m sure they could come up with something cool. I’m sure him running out and making a save or screwing someone when he returnscould be cool too. Brit Baker is an example for this now as well. I was getting a bit tired of her, now that she’s been gone I’m actually super excited for her to come back and have a promo off with Mercedes or fight with Storm. She was a perfect example of staying on tv before and now she’s a great example of being off tv. Ricky Starks is an example of someone that has had and lost momentum. There’s been times he’s disappeared and I’m bummed. This last time he had momentum they were still using him as tag champs with Big Bill and I feel the momentum for him fizzled again. He wasn’t used, he was used. We can blame booking or performers or external circumstances. I’m starting to lean towards wrestling is weird and a little bit of everything can influence a little bit of everything. Do I want more video packages? In theory, yes. I just love edited short hype pieces. Do I want a ton of them, no. On Twitter, not so much here, it gets so disingenuous with “Who is this?” like towards Okada. He literally already main evented a PPV and had hype around building that. The CMLL guys showing up came off of the BCC getting in their faces. It was very simple but it was there. The point is we’re getting something you can’t see on US tv elsewhere. The mystery and then technical excellency of Hechicero being discovered in the match was very fun. I do find the transition from BCC to Jericho (like what AEW did with the Kingston feud) to be eh. But meh. Jokes aside, The Casuals as a modern day J.O.B. Squad would be pretty sweet. Right now, how I enjoy wrestling is I actually watch (when I can) AEW because I prefer their matches and the presentation and I look up clips of WWE because it’s fun keeping up to date with their stories. They’re far from perfect as well, but it’s a really fun time having two bigger companies putting out content at such a high level for both their standards. Give me Danielson vs Shibata on Collision and give me Cody and I crying as he holds up the belt at Wrestlemania. Give me stupid but fun Judgement Day locker room segments where they’re like Pinky and the Brain trying to take over the WWE or someshit and give me Penta taunting in the face of danger as if he is Friedrich Nietzsche staring into the abyss and some jumping into a cutter or super kick 2010’s ROH when they had tv guy stares back. RAMBLE COMPLETE. I need a nap.
  15. Yuta is injured but to my knowledge (I did a quick search and couldn’t find much) there isn’t a known return date. Hopefully he’s fine and comes back soon. I really enjoy him.
  16. HAPPY ST PATRICK’S DAY greatest moment in AEW history
  17. It would have been better ratings in the Tokyo Dome
  18. In 7 years that security guard will be AEW Champion
