All I got was the Bruce Lee set, since I've been more than a bit spending-averse lately. Got to use 2 gift codes on it, though.

So I fought the urge for the longest time to have anything to do with Twitter, but since the autumn, I've been engaging with it, and...it's not the worst. One of the better bits that I've followed is The Midnight Society (@midnight_pals), which is a bunch of horror writers sitting around a campfire and attempting to tell spooky stories, only to be sidetracked a million different ways. They've had a pretty wide set of stories (or more fittingly, a wide array of hijinx) with a lot of relatively obscure writers getting name-dropped, so who knows, maybe @OSJ would dig it? But it got me taking a look at Joe Hill finally, and I'm liking Heart-Shaped Box so far. The first third was so frenetic I didn't see how there were 250 more pages, but it takes a good (and appropriate) hard left for a while. I thought about reading NOS4A2 but the reminder of Zachary Quinto being on the TV show version kind of put me off - I feel like we, as a society, really should move on from anything and everything involving him.

Watching Terminator Dark Fate and it's decent so far. I can watch anything with Mackenzie Davis, though, so... but on the "those assholes never learn" front, it surprises me Harlan Ellison (or his estate, depending on if/when the screenplay was wrapped up) didn't sue the fuck out of the franchise a second time after I heard the 'can of peaches' line in the script.

How about some bad TV discussion?? I don't know why I'm rewatching - yes, rewatching - Absentia but I am. The first season is not so bad, except the husband is the most wooden actor since Laura in High Fidelity. I'd only watched that far before, and it's too bad I didn't stop. S2 is somehow an inversion: it's terrible writing, terrible character development, especially terrible directing but the wooden husband somehow figured out how to quit being so awful! Maybe he went to acting class with Barry. Unless you can watch Stana Katic read the phone book (and I probably could), avoid, avoid, avoid.

I always interpreted that as Cap couldn't in the moment because it was just to show off, which would have been a base use of it. Maybe Thor would have been unworthy if he used Mjolnir to crack walnuts. But the Russos actually confirmed what you said in an interview somewhere, I'm pretty sure.

Rewatching S2 of Westworld is making me wonder what part of their extra casting ad looks like. "NEEDED: actors of all adult ages. Must be comfortable with extensive nudity. Ridiculous bush a plus."
