  1. FTR and the Briscoes created masterful art. Fun show. On the preee, loved seeing a happy Cabana. I would splurge on 'Copacabana' and give the crowd a forgotten classic. @DEANs keen eye says Blake Christian needs a tan and who am I to argue with the man? Christian is talented and Cabana deserves to be celebrated in the upper mid-card. AQA is perfectly suited for spreading her wings in Honor. Tully's gonna have to work on these cats being his SST. Kaun's absolutely got it. Toa needs some work, but I expect we'll see results in due time. Dalton Castle seemed to be wrestling for two against Hendry. I don't think Joe's long for this promotion. I hope Castle is.
  2. I've heard similar speculation and I fear there's a few ppl going to be disappointed by Tully's new charge (tho 2% is more than a fair refund). I'm sure I could be wrong, but I don't see it being Claudio. Does it makes sense for him to debut as a heel? I suspect we may see him by show's end, but I also kinda suspect he'll be saved for a 'main roster' debut. Wherever he shows up, I just hope he brings Hero along with him. I'm thinking Tully likes upstarts, maybe his son in law? Tho, I'd rather see somebody else. Brock Anderson was a name that crossed my mind as well. Whomever it is I'd like it to be somebody who matches up well with Ninja Mack. I wanna see that dude get a proper showing. That said, I certainly won't complain if Castagnoli shows up and murders him.
  3. Any idea what the last Garland AEW show did or what the capacity would likely be with considerations to the set-up? EDIT: Not sure if it was the last Garland show, but I have a report showing 5,688 for a Fyter Fest in 2021. Here's hoping the walk up is overly strong.
  4. That and the DIY match from TO were all I'd ever seen of FTR prior to their Elite arrival. As you can imagine I had high expectations for them. Outside the unfortunate injuries and personal issues that kept them sidelined, they've met those lofty expectations. Even the weekly Dark squashes have been a ton of fun. And that beautiful entrance music! FTR v Fish/O'Reilly AEW rematch lands high on my list. As does the upcoming Bucks match. I was hoping Josh Alexander would be coming in sooner than it now sounds like he will, and for the reason of FTR v the North. A match they floated on some pods before joining AEW. FTR v Scorpio/Page will do. FTR v 'Daddy Magic' Matt Minard and 'Cool Hand Ang' Angelo Parker. Keith Lee v Powerhouse Hobbs, Top Flight v the Bucks and the House of Black v Fuego/Any partners of his choosing (Dark Order will certainly do) would very honestly also be on that list - so very much looking forward to Rampage. Also... Hayter v Deeb Andrade v Kenny (without the awful ads and busy screen flashing on the hardcam shot like in AAA) Rey Fenix v Andrade Fenix v Dante Fenix v Jungle Jack Fenix v Darby Luchas v Top Flight Top Flight v FTR Cole v Gargano Christian v Jungle Jack Kingston v Jericho Rematch Punk v Page... tho I hadn't thought of that prior to this slow build. House of Black v Blackpool Combat Club and a third Darby v anybody Danielson v anybody Takeshita v Danielson, Moriarty, Garcia, Fenix, Andrade, Kenny, etc etc Kenny v Paul Wight... it was just a thought I had when Big Paul signed the deal, but I wanna see what would come of such an ordeal. Thinking on this reminds me that there are countless combos I wanna see, and why every week their TV is so loaded.
  5. Just about to sign my first deal with the Club. That arena set-up has me wondering how many tix they've been able to sell. Really hoping for a boisterous crowd. Also, hoping Bobby Cruise handles the ceremonial duties.
  6. I'm really looking forward to Titus-Suzuki for this reason. It's fun watching Minoru go toe to toe with the big boys, but I can imagine the destruction of Rhett Titus may be even better.
  7. As I mentioned to @Nice Guy Eddie, I don't have a whole lot of wrestling fans in my friend circles. This board at it's best feels like a friendly bond over wrestling and nobody does it better than the Nice Guy!
  8. Fellow poster, it really isn't necessary for you take differing views so personally and start chucking insults. I don't worship TK, but I certainly support him being able to professionally deal with his employees rather than them taking it to social media and any sort of press. Let's be okay with agreeing to disagree. You're clearly passionate in your wrestling fandom. Whether we agree or not on any given point should not be an invitation to fling inflammatory comments. This is a big day of wrestling. I am terribly excited about this ROH PPV and hope you are too. If yes, I will look forward to your thoughts on the action before or after. In relation to said PPV here's a podcast interview with Ian Riccaboni... Riccaboni is a class act. Love is friendly approach. I rate him just behind or right up there with the best, or at least my personal favorite, Impact's Tom Hannifan. Caprice Coleman is an underrated sidekick.
  9. I'm not so sure your additional details explain anything more than was needed. I think it's fair to assume he's aware of the AEW run. I agree there's nothing wrong with Chavo being upset, but tweeting and whining to the press before talking to Tony is where our opinions differ. Please! I miss the chaotic sounds of random whistles. I miss Fonzie too.
  10. Chavo had a tantrum over being removed from the AEW website's roster page without notice. He pretty quickly aired his self created dirty laundry to some press after calling TK and failing to receive a return call in what he considered due time. An exhausted and annoyed TK addressed it at the post PPV mediascrum saying he'd had an unusually busy week (PPV plus Dynamite, Rampage and Universal Studio tapings), but that he planned to call Chavo back. Whiny little Chavo ought to go full Fonzie mode at the ROH show and bleed a couple buckets as a thank you for still having a job.
  11. I had a small worry we'd seen the last of Tull. What a nice surprise! Also nice to see Ninja Mack locked into a match. I hope to see him developed in the system. Who could possibly be under the Blanchard learning tree?
  12. Bunny is a really good gatekeeper. It's a great role for her. I don't really see what others seem to concerning her being anywhere near dynamic, or particulary strong, with her offense, but she's a terrific bumper/seller. I like the Bunny role and most of the character work, but not so into the hammy camera taunts and the 'I'm so kuh-razy' shit. Tho, it does work fine enough for her modest level on the card. I love the hardworking AEW gatekeepers getting praise, but also don't feel the need for them to move up the card.
  13. Eric from Segunda's enthusiasm for Andre is contagious.
  14. Meltzer's doing a good job of setting up TK doing the 'impossible'. It's great to get that history, but few of those scenarios seem to make a whole lot of sense as comparisons. It's difficult to see much sense with those MMA examples (Pro-wres/MMA fans would surely have better insight there than I). I like that Dave mostly withholds his opinions regarding what the companies did with their purchases. Of these historical examples it seems like the Watts/TriState and McMahon/GCW situations made complete sense to where each was at that particular time. JCP certainly lost some opportunities with UWF. Running two brands in 87 doesn't seem like it would have made much sense, but it's hard to argue that JCP/Dusty didn't completely dropped the ball with how to bring in the new talent. JCP's aquisition of Kansas and Florida, really even the UWF, seem like senseless purchases, but I don't know the ins/outs there. WWE buying WCW and revamping ECW were clear losers for clear reasons not mentioned. Before you even begin to examine the numbers it's a pretty clear illustration, creatively, how to effectively kill a product. I think NXT is one of the better and more interesting comparisons. Tho, it's hard to tell where touring, at least with the Helmsley version, might have gotten them. The road didn't seem to reveal itself prior to the pandemic/product dismantling. I will be very surprised if this version of ROH doesn't surpass Dave's worrysome seemingly low expectations. We don't know enough about distribution nor pretty much anything to speculate a whole lot concering the finances (not all that interested in that convo anyway). If the product is up to snuff with superfan-cum-pretty-fantastic-bookerman TK's vision success will be hard to avoid. Yeah, sure, burnout's a potential factor, but I don't see it as an imminent danger for the reasons others have laid out. Dave does now seem to at least see the potential for a future interpromotional feud, but the more current and significant benefit is the potential elevation of new fresh talent.
  15. Quality over quantity was essentially the story of Tully and Arn as well.
  16. Owen's crocodile tears! Tremendous. Thanks @Infinitfor sharing that post of that historic moment. The Hart Foundation run was sadly a little short my liking. DX taking the TV time and position leading to and following Bret's departure was depressing. Luckily there was a Rattlesnake and the Most Electrifying man waiting in the wings.
  17. This seems like good reason to sign a deal. Are there any articles (Segunda Caida included) that have laid out a sort of guide to the riches of this era/promotion? Or does anybody have any good starting point recommendations? Anything I've ever seen has been tremendous, but I know so very little.
  18. Viva Pedro! No catalogue of titles better.
  19. I love Willie Hobbs, but have no problem with waiting on his ascent til he's really truly ready. Til then he's doing a great job of keeping himself fresh while playing the midcard gatekeeper. On the otherhand, I don't see much reason for waiting on Hayter's ascent. There are few if any at her talent level - I trust @DEAN's analysis of Toni Storm, so there's potentially her. And Deeb's at her level, but the current Deeb role is pretty terrific (tho, I could use a weekly dose). I don't really care so much about belting Jamie, but I would love to see her much, much more.
  20. Well said. I've only seen a couple Riccochet bouts, but was awfully impressed. I suspect he'll be an excellent addition some Wednesday night in the future. I'm with you on that. She seemed very much expendable for a long time. I'm sure I overlooked a Dark bout here or there, but the street fight was the turn around for me. This Storm bout furthers the sentiment. I think Toni had some ring rust, but clearly there's a star quality beyond her beauty.
  21. It's interesting to hear Meltzer's analysis, amongst a few others, saying 'why wouldn't you promote a show as AEW, rather than this lowly ROH, you'll draw more'. I'm generalizing, but I assume a few have heard this. That kind of argument is fair, but missing the important point that if they can actually boost the label there is potential for a variety of exciting crossover possibilities. Both for new singluar or tandem talents and the somewhat inevitable or eventual ROH v AEW. The latter is logically further down the road. Clearly, they'll need time to establish some of the new roster (like the huge missed opportunity in 2001). The more immediate possibility is the crossover of fresh new singles and teams providing fresh opportunities. What WWE has so miserably failed to capitalize upon when advancing ready (and somewhat over) NXT talent to the mainland. If you build say a Bandido or Willow Nightingale or John Gresham (to where s/he readies whatever part of his/her game that needs seasoning) and move them to AEW you presumably have a fresh new face ready to catch fire. Not to say they've been hurting for fresh talent (thank you WWE). Also, doesn't the catalogue mean more if the current product is of note?
