  1. Going into the season, the UT site I’m on said that the kicking game had the potential to lose a game or two this year. We gave a scholarship to a deep snapper who was beat out by a walk-on, we have one kicker with a decent leg but terrible accuracy and one who is the opposite. Last week was three bad snaps, this week is one on a go-ahead field goal. At least Trejo was able to flip the field finally.
  2. Texas fan with a 3 percenter tattoo, sigh...
  3. Turn his body so he doesn’t fully drive the QB into the ground with all his weight. Not saying it was an intentional dirty hit, but it was a little fishy.
  4. I always thought it was funny when he would randomly throw in “hey I’ll throw a fireball at you because I’m a wizard”. BeeSeeBeeWee isn’t as clever as he thinks.
  5. Was it Jade-Anna Jay that was surprisingly good?
  6. Opener was fun, not a classic but fun. Too much shenanigans, but I’m going to enjoy Mox unleashing some glorious pro wrestling violence on SammySammySammy. I know Darby technically won the PPV trios match but other then Brody King coffin match he’s been taking a lot of Ls lately. Deeb vs. Rayne was better than Rayne’s other two matches, and probably the second most enjoyable Deeb singles match to me. Was wondering why they were heating her up, having her take Hayter’s spot with Britt could be interesting but it’s most likely going to end up starting another Shida-Deeb angle and I will not care. Dax Harwood is probably one of the top 5-8 singles wrestlers in AEW right now as well as being one of the best tag team wrestlers in the world. He and Claudio match up well as heavy hitters with lots of strength but also athletic ability. Dax’s piledriver looked brutal, working the neck was a good angle that didn’t really go anywhere since sharpshooter is a lower back submission. Surprising end to the match, but I always enjoy when matches don’t end with the finisher. Claudio wrestled slightly heel here, which I think is where BCC is going. Not full heels, but tough guys who just want to beat the hell out of you and lay in some nasty tricks as part of that without actually cheating. Woods-Joe is going to be vicious. Hobbs with a short, sweet promo. On the other hand, Jade’s act and push is more stale than the Cheerios in the backseat footwell of a minivan. They really need to find a way to end this streak so she can grow as a character and wrestler. Edited to add that I also like Jericho on commentary, he has a future there once his body is done.
  7. I worked for the UT college paper (at the time the largest printed daily college paper in the US) back in the ‘90s, specifically in the entertainment department, so I have experience with softball interviews designed to promote an event/album. I’ll cover the Texas market, willing to go as far as OKC and western Louisiana.
  8. Sounds like a best case to me! But I would have Regal do it.
  9. I assume the issue with McAfee is how to travel with all of his blow.
  10. For those that haven't read this, there are also Rampage spoilers for tonight's show so either read with caution or wait until Saturday morning.
  11. I found out from my college alumni magazine that someone named Scott Beatty had written some Batgirl comic run a few years back that was the basis for a Batgirl movie set to debut on HBOMax...
  12. Especially when you're up 31-10 with 5 minutes remaining. Like I know weird shit happens but that's a fairly safe lead with the way the D was playing.
  13. I’ve seen the trucker hat as a meme 100x
  14. Weird, that didn't link me Loveless (Or Bizarro)
  15. Haven't you seen the tweets with photos of BCC doing the Madness pose backstage?
  16. I was going to use that one but decided to go with Stone Roses and my Munich rave story (for which I was only very drunk, no disco biscuits, and danced all night as we had no where to stay anyway). This is quintessential Madchester, in all the best/worst ways:
  17. I agree that a heel SioG with a mean monster Lee would be fun for a while.
  18. I actually went to a "rave" in a small warehouse in Munich while visiting in late 1990 and this was the big smash of the night.
  19. For those scratching their melons: I was having to explain to my wife about how ravers started as guys with floppy hair and baggy clothes dancing to grooving 80s britpop before turning into the techno scene and I am so old.
  20. I must have stopped watching before Henry hit main event level, I've always assumed he was just a DVDVR fave.
  21. I feel in the '80s Heenan used to talk about his lawyers, the firm of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe.
  22. That was an excellent example of turning chicken shit into chicken salad. Tony's taped announcement was smart. Since we're all analyzing body language, he seemed really nervous when announcing the vacancies, lots of blinking. But he was very excited when announcing the trios match (which I predicted) and the tournament of champions. For a minute, I thought it was structured to potentially set up Mox-Danielson and Jericho-Sammy in the semis, which would have been fun. What they did with the MJF opening was smart. Having Mox basically hit the reset button and set the tone for the company moving forward was genius. My wife was half-listening and was making fun of it a little for being so serious (she also has a crush on MJF), but I was totally bought in. Trios match was about what was expected, some comedy, Penta being Penta, some big spots (I personally felt the triple Canadian Destroyer was too convoluted and required a lot of staging). Complaints were a waste of Chuck T's huge entrance stage senton during PiP and Death Triangle going over. I think Best Friends could have much more interesting matches with a variety of competition. Hangman-Danielson wasn't as good as their 2 classics but was still very good on short notice, and I liked seeing Danielson win on a flash/surprise. Page's huge moonsault was awesome, and the chops palm strikes to the chest were stiff. My DVR wasn't able to record the Storm-Ford match because of, ironically, a storm messing up my DirecTv, but I'm sure it was a perfectly cromulent match. Wardlow squashing Nese felt like deja vu to something from earlier in the summer. They have to figure out something to do with him. Fucking MJF... Main wasn't as good a match as the ROH PPV but was an excellent match with a very hot crowd and a great payoff, and wasn't how I predicted. A little lost in the Dragon-Garcia-Jericho angle was Yuta sitting in the background, looking a little pissed about Dragon giving his love to Garcia. Considering we're also potentially building to Mox-Danielson at Grand Slam, are they working an angle of BCC dissension? Disappointed that Caster didn't get a rap, but also probably a smart move, and definitely got Swerve some extra heel heat. Him and Bowens mean-mugging each other at the end has me excited for a side story to their tag feud.
  23. Fuck yes, Shook Ones Part 2 is the perfect song for Eddie. I expected to hate Westside Gunn thinking it was going to be trap crap, but it was very Wu-style and was perfectly fine. And speaking of music, can they PLEASE kill the vocals from Danielson's intro? Considering how hard that flopped at the PPV, I figured they would have gotten the message.
  24. I had started writing a long post about my experiences in punk/hardcore and how there are 2 kinds of straight-edge people, personified by Bryan Danielson and CM Punk. One just lives his life the way he chooses, tries to bring others along, and yeah they can be smug about it but they're not going to be in your face about their beliefs. The other has made it their personality, and goes around looking to start shit, knock drinks out of people's hands at shows while his buddies are at his side. The only difference in this case is that CM Punk didn't have a crew.
  25. From an angle/business perspective, yes I agree. Does he deserve it?
