WWE, we don’t support gory self-mutilation of women performers, but we do support regimes who mutilate reporters and jail women.

I loved that Acclaimed video, the rap was a solid (for wrasslin’) diss track but the video itself was pure gold. Bowens was clowning so hard, when he did the coffin drop into the snow and then made a snow angel I laughed out loud. Opener was hot, good hard hitting back and forth, building to them throwing bombs at each other. Glad the shenanigans happened at the end. That match went 11-12 minutes and it was pure action. I ffwd through Spears talking. He does nothing for me. Trios women’s match was great and my girl Allie got the pin! Great way to take advantage of how limber Penelope Ford is with that submission. And time for the Hirsch-Statlander angle to move to the next phase. The Lethal-Starks confrontation was awesome and Lethal was dropping some truth bombs. That’s going to be a good match. I’m fine with ATT and Cody, I guess. Main was fantastic because of how great Silver and Reynolds are as a tag team. Their tandem finishing sequence and that 2.99999 had me ready to jump off the couch! And that 4-person corner move (whoever called it Total Extinction gets points for that) would only have been more awesome if Luchasaurus had fallen backwards a little more. Both teams got over with that match.

My wife always comments on how few people are masked in the crowd. Hell, I won't even go to a movie theater right now.

Cole made a huge point about his undefeated record as a singles wrestlers in AEW and not having been pinned or submitted even in tags. Since AEW doesn't seem to mind using the same angle with 2-3 wrestlers at a time, I could see them having a great match and then the Bucks causing Cole to be DQ'd, handing him his first singles loss.

I hope they keep the interference and shenanigans to a minimum, or at least after the matches. I could see a series of run-ins in all but the 6-woman match (which will be fun but also is naturally going to focus on/advance the Statlander-Hirsch angle).

That might be better than being a career back QB/clipboard holder, except they get vested in the NFL players pension.

A lot happened, some of it was hard to remember even by the end of the show. I don’t recall anything being that promo and angle heavy in my 4 months or so of watching. There were some decent matches mixed in so it was fine but, yeah, just a lot to try and keep up with. I marked out for the Arn and Tully handshake. I still liked my idea of Spears hitting Wardlow with the chair to DQ Punk and that starting the Wardlow turn. But I guess this match will work fine for that too. It’s clear now the blowoff to Punk-MJF is actually Wardlow-MJF. Also, to quote my wife when she saw MJF “Does that guy ever actually wrestle?” I thought the Hobbs and Martin match was very good, it showed how Dante is growing and able to use kicks and strikes in his arsenal, his facial expressions are improving, but he also sold like a freak for Hobbs’ power offense. Big fan of both guys. As others have said, I would have been totally happy with Garcia pulling the upset after that intense match. That was a hell of a brawl with some spots thrown in. Match even got my wife interested, to the point she was asking “I know it’s choreographed but doesn’t that hurt?” I’m also cool with Kingston-Jericho and hope it’s Eddie’s big win. I was very happy to see Acclaimed (my faves that aren’t FTR) and Bear Country, partly because they had that very good Dark match last month. Felt like they were testing the idea of Acclaimed and Bear Country as real contenders and TV regulars, and maybe Acclaimed as champs. The rest is mostly a blur already, other than Deeb destroying Shida. Can’t wait for the payoff of that.

Houston is figuring that one of the branches of the Belichick tree will bear fruit eventually, so hire them all at once!

I mean I grew up in the ‘80s and once we got cable and I was able to watch the daily territorial shows on ESPN, I thought WWF was cartoon bullshit, although I did love Ricky Steamboat and the British Bulldogs. But compared to the Von Erichs, the Freebirds, the Horsemen, etc...those definitely felt more real. I remember seeing the Dingo Warrior before he became an Ultimate, a skinny Curt Hennig, the Midnight Rockers, the Sheepherders when they were scary bloodthirsty heels... edit to add: living in NYC I also got the MSG channel, so I could watch those mid and late WWF 80s MSG house shows and those were usually pretty good since it was just wrestling with a minimum amount of mic time.

Honestly the thing I like about MJF is that he fully leans into being a heel rather than being a cool heel, but his promos can drag, can be corny, and edgelordy. The Piper comparison is apt for the good and bad reasons. And being an MJF-level promo hasn't really made him a bigger/breakout star than the other Pillars. Is Sting a good promo?
-
The current champion does very good promos and has an over catchphrase, isn't that good enough? Signed, Dr. Britt Baker...
-
Sure, works for me. A tried and true angle.
-
MJF is going to have Spears do it with the chair, causing Wardlow to do a powerbomb symphony on Spears.

I think Anna Jay's pants are actually tinier. Also, I just can't visualize Tay as a heel, she's not bubbly but she exudes a positive vibe. TayJay to me are one of the biggest arguments for having a Women's tag title. I like them both as singles wrestlers but I think right now they get over best as a tag team (and the street fight sealed that). Them doing dual QueenSlayers on the twins was a nice touch. Which reminds me that Nyla and Emi were also awesome as a tag team this week.

My Texas site has been hinting at that for weeks. Reaction is mixed on the board. They also called Sanders last week, much more excitement at that possibility but he was an OU commit at one point (on offense, to Lincoln Riley). At one point, they thought JoJo Earle might be a possibility too. I'd imagine the tampering was mostly done through high school teammates.

I don't watch WWE/NXT and haven't for 15 years or more, so my guess would be they had her dress like a Carnaval dancer and giving people the Stinkface.
-
Yeah going forward I would love a weekly thread for the YT shows.

Watched Elevation and Dark through the JE/Factory match last night. It was cool to get double doses of Dante Martin (and yeah, he needs to start hitting that finisher farther from the ropes), Skye Blue, and then Hobbs squashing fools (the first guy who looked and posed like he was a 1940s babyface was awesome). The JD Drake/OC match was a highlight for sure, but I didn't actually think that was Avalon and Bononi under the masks and was expecting a SWERVE, probably because I have been reading Dolfan's Wrestlemania lockdown thread. The announcers were really putting over Bowens, and I'm ready for The Acclaimed to get their title run (as was said earlier, this was also probably Caster's best rap not just lyrically but he also really hit a flow). Finally, Kingston and Janela was a stiff brawl. At this point, Elevation is like a really good WCW Worldwide (my favorite syndicated show) and the last couple of Darks have been excellent WCWSN shows.
-
The announcers winced at that, she dropped her on her head like this was All Japan.

Bret knows where the marks are these days.

Williams may be doing due diligence (to avoid tampering claims) but I would be incredibly shocked if his plan wasn't to follow Lincoln to USC. Guessing Dart was finally informed.

It's the Justin Fields connection, but you are 100% right.

Seen a couple of references of Kiffin to the Vikings.

Is Jimbo Fisher something that's been mentioned, or just a doom and gloom scenario for you?
