  1. Itami has to be pissed after he got embarassed in the battle royale last year while Corbin got to win this one.
  2. Had work but watched most of this. Almost took the day off for the show but I saw that card and said nah Good stuff: - Women's match - Dean/Brock until the finish - Shane's bump Bad stuff - Firebreaker Rock - Main Event - Show's length - Dean/Brock finish - Shane/Taker minus the bump I didn't like Mania 30 or 31 and this was significantly worse.
  3. He'll get shown up though if Ibushi is in it, I can gurantee it. Sombra's good but Ibushi's spectacular. Sombra's style is more like Balor where he doesn't do a ton of really crazy stuff.
  4. I wish I understood what people saw in Ciampa. Little personality, moves that hurt him more than his opponent and his look and matches are nothing special.
  5. I'm going to disagree. Roman is less improved and less popular Cena, Cena was the less popular and less improved Rock/Austin, who were the improved and more popular HBK/Bret. You put the two of them side by side and Cena will get the bigger pop and sell more merch, and will get more women going nuts for him. Although Cena's not meant to appeal to me, at least he's a good worker and he obviously gets the reactions to justify his push. Roman doesn't. He's only the top non-Cena non-Brock face because he's being pushed as such and WWE doesn't let anyone get over. Dean Ambrose, with the same push and focus, would do better than Reigns, but they don't see him as the top face because of um..his hair? I don't know really. I'd love a good explanation as to why. Dean and The New Day are the top non-Cena, non-Brock faces right now, and ND aren't even faces. Live event business isn't really going anywhere. For any non-smart fans, it's the only time they see wrestling each year. WWE doesn't even tell you what the card is going to be most of the time, so it really doesn't matter. As long as the prices are reasonable and they are on TV, they can get 2,000 people to come. WWE can make anyone they want the top face and they've already decided that with Reigns. It doesn't matter as long as they get the 3 million or so views each week on Raw since PPV buys don't count anymore. None of their stars are larger than the business and none of their stars are going to turn it around, because WWE won't let them. It's the brand, not the wrestlers these days. This is how we've ended up with Shane McMahon: Wrestlemania Main Eventer. And the only way this changes is if Vince dies. I also want to add that few of us would be here if our parents weren't wrestling fans. No parental fans > no kid fans. If you please the adults, you will get more kids watching.
  6. Their strongest periods were 2000-2002 and Heyman's run. It seemed they started screwing around with the talent in 2002-2004 by making the Basham's BDSM guys and making Eugene retarded. Looking at results from 2002-2005 ish they had the almost exact same roster and few guys of any amateur or indy backgrounds. I went to an FCW show as well, likely around 2009ish. I thought Angela Fong was going to be something special and think they really blew it with her. Tyler Reks was in the main. Tyson Tarver fought Doink and Low-Ki/Michael McGillicutty were there and injured.
  7. To be fair, FCW was only aired in Florida and not on the WWE network. OVW did nicely despite only airing locally when WWE wasn't screwing them. I remember Punk and Cappotelli each doing good business. There's no doubt in my mind that NXT would be drawing the same as FCW did without being on the WWE Network.
  8. I just wanted to say that wrestlers aren't any worse at promos interviews today than they were in the 70's and 80's. It's just now the promo's are too long to be good. I can think of a bunch of wrestlers who could do a good 1 minute interview, but I can't think of any who I'd want to see talk for 10 minutes.
  9. Yep, they are going to have to do something. I don't believe NXT was supposed to originally be an indy supershow, but that's what it has become. Options are: 1) Add another NXT show per week or expand it. 2) Start bringing NXT people to Smackdown and split the brands 3) Create a new NXT just for development guys aka Vince guys only. What will happen in its current state is that people like Aries and Crews will get shafted for the indy star of the week. They are also going to be running out of guys to steal as they've got just about everyone not named Young Bucks, Okada or Richochet.
  10. They might as well get Ricochet. He's really on the only person not named Okada and the Young Bucks left who they didn't get yet. They have too many people right now though unless they plan to expand. They can't push Nak, Itami, Aries, Ibushi, Balor, Joe, Roode, Sombra, Ricochet and whoever else without people getting exposed and not looking so big time.
  11. Meltzer just said he's been brought in for more than the tournament, and they have yet to have anyone on TV who they haven't signed. He'll get himself a contract anyway as his style will blow everyone away since he mixes the stiffness and the cool spots.
  12. My thoughts: Tag - Looked good. Aries/Corbin - Aries works best as a heel and Corbin was going to be the worst wrestler on this show. Nothing was bad about it, but they had to know the crowd wasn't going to be into it and it was going to be that good. Feel bad for Aries as he got overshadowed by Nak. Hope him and Roode bring back their tag team as that's the only way Roode is getting over. Nak/Zayn - Why was this the 3rd match? Everyone knew this was the main. Proved to be a huge mistake as the crowd was drained after. Match was good. Thought it was neithers best match and wasn't close to 5 stars. Didn't see anything wrong with it just nothing to really go over the top to make it 5 stars. I liked seeing Zayn go into striker mode. Also, Nak's theme doesn't fit him at all. Asuka/Bayley - Bayley got exposed here. Her offense looked awful, especially with Asuka and Nak. This match was proof that sending her to the main roster would be a kamikaze mission. Crowd was too dead from the Nak match and let's be real, Bayley relies a lot of sympathy, which the crowd was too tired to give. it was going to be a hard one either way as no one will boo Asuka or Bayley and really - Asuka is too far ahead of all of the women. Charlotte/Sasha/Bayley and crew are good workers, especially in the WWE, but Asuka is so much further ahead of them and honestly would have fit better vs Nakamura. Also don't think they can work on the fly like Asuka can. The crowd was not buying submissions all night either which hurt. Asuka was probably the best overall "wrestler" on the show. I also want to talk about how Graves ruined this match with his non-stop talking. It was hard to follow it or feel a part of the crowd. Just shut up and let them go. Main event - Wasn't super interested in it until the blood....which the WWE put a stop to. Joe was good, Balor looked really good but I'd probably have to watch it again. Overall thoughts: The show was good overall, though some of the other specials have been better. Nak/Zayn's placement really hurt the show. It should have swapped with Joe/Balor. Also want to say that NXT is going to have a problem with having too many people. They don't have the time to have Balor, Nakamura, Itami, Joe, Roode, Aries, maybe Ibushi, Corbin plus the rest of the crew as top stars on a one hour show. And as we are seeing, the true developmental guys are getting ignored and blown out of the water.
  13. I'd have Taker throw Shane off the cage into the arms of the LoN and a ref or two. Would be safe and would be a cool spot at the same time.
  14. People love to give Missy a ton of flack and I'm not a supporter of her, but you tell me how many people at her age that you know that are in the shape she is in. I imagine the lighting and camera flash just made her makeup look really white.
  15. Tozawa will be gone if they are interested. DG never seemed to value him and too many people there don't like him.
  16. Don't know whether it is a work, shoot or a mixture of both, but ZZ has only been at it a year and he didn't seem like a long-time fan. Some people like Yuhi were awesome from the start while others like Conor O'Brien are 10 years into this and still haven't had a good match. You want to rip on ZZ in a few years, fine, but he's in developmental for a reason.
  17. I dare someone on here try to tell me with a straight face that a Minoru Suzuki kaiju wouldn't be an instant classic.
  18. This is from my Review of Mid-South Wrestling 12/8/1983: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2014/08/mid-south-wrestling-1281983-review.html Honestly this was the best I ever saw Poffo look.
  19. Shane/Taker probably should be the main, but that's only because HHH/Reigns is going to need bandages to cover the boos and the anti-Reigns crowd. There's just no way WWE's going to be able to present it or make it happen the way they want.
  20. So if Terry Bollea doesn't have a ten inch penis, and Hulk Hogan does, how big would Rip's be- and does this make Vince's original plan for See No Evil to be a sequel to No Holds Barred? Stan Hansen says Rip has a teeny wanger. What a jockass.
  21. Ambrose should be the top face right now. He's the most over and has the wrestling ability and promos. I don't see any point in not making him the top guy at the moment, unless they wanted it to be Sami. We don't know who's going be to be the next really big star but if WWE doesn't give people a chance, they'll never know because there won't be one. We are in year 3 of the Roman Reigns project. Cena was over with everyone within a year.
  22. I'd be up for another K-Fed run, though I'm not sure if anyone would know who he is anymore.
  23. Not a good looking show and probably the weakest Wrestlemania line-up ever. Lesnar/Ambrose is the only match that has a shot at being anything. Even the Miz/Cena Wrestlemania looked better on paper. I know some of it was bad luck with injuries, but when you don't push younger guys and rely on older stars, this is what happens. The best part is that this is going to happen while we have one of the best looking NXT cards ever on the same weekend. Just amazing how the same company can do everything right in one promotion and can't get anything right in the other. Only in WWE.
  24. Yeah people need to be real here. The older you get the more hair you will lose. A person isn't worth less because they've lost hair.
