I don't think so. He was unimpressive in his bowl game but dominated the rest of the year. I think he'll go in the first.

The 32gb is flash, not a hard drive. The Wii U doesn't have a hard drive.

Saw Dallas Buyers Club tonight. In a word? Overrated. I'm impressed with McConaughey's dedication in losing all that weight but wasn't impressed with his actual acting. Not bad but not great. The movie itself was pretty "eh". Interesting story but not great. And long. Really, really, really, really long. My wife liked it more than I but even she said it felt really long. REALLY long. So, uh, yeah - 6/10, maybe 6.5.

Nintendo is set on releasing underpowered consoles. That worked last generation. It was an obvious mistake this time. By going for less power than 7 year old systems, Nintendo misfired big time. Mario and Zelda can only help so much with that. EA doesn't want to release a crippled version of Battlefield. Not to mention, Nintendo screwed up by not putting a hard drive in their. Plus their total fail when it comes to online and the indie/digital market. That said, they can fix all that with a killer system in two years.

That theory is so laughably bad and unsupported, it kills me that it still gets brought up. It's right up there with "the driver did it".

Read the book "Orders to Kill" by William Pepper.

The best conspiracy theory for MLK's has Army Intelligence doing it, not the FBI. Anyway, tonight I saw: Her - Joaquin Phoenix plays Theodore, a profoundly depressed man living in a near-future version of LA. He buys an operating system with true AI that takes on a female persona, voiced by Scarlett Johansson. They develop a relationship and he eventually falls in love with her. This is an incredible movie with Phoenix portraying the sadness and loneliness of his character and the joys he experiences when the relationship blossoms. This is a weird movie with some incredibly strange scenes. Theo's relationship is not seen as all that unusual and others have the same types. Can't say enough about the performance from Phoenix - quite possibly the best acting I've ever seen. Just incredible. And the added bonus of Amy Adams, a top, top favorite of mine. 9.5/10.

Man, I killed the first season within like three days of its debut and raved about it on here. Where were you????Great show and I am dying for season two.

Shanahan's misuse of RG3 and Kirk Cousins resulted in the defense being on the field too much!

This all begs the question of why we haven't seen one yet covering Bucky F'n Dent and the '78 AL race or 1975 Game 6. With the way ESPN bends over for the Red Sox and the Yankees, you'd think those two topics + 2003 or 2004 would have compromised like 15 of the first 30 for 30s.

Hadn't really caught the "earrings > drugs/women" aspect of #4. You're right. As for #2, heck, that was the rule (well, the no headphones thing) back when I was teaching which was, uh... sometime ago before Chris Weinke won a Heisman. If it hadn't been a schoolwide rule, you can bet it would have been in my classroom. You want music in math class? No problem. Bring a tape or CD, we'll listen to it on the boombox in class on Friday but if I hear profanity, you don't get it back. That actually worked really well and I got intro'ed to a lot of great music I would have missed otherwise.

You are insane, USC vs. Texas had one of the most talented teams of all time getting scorched by the single best individual performance in a championship game in NCAA history. Not to mention all of the things that happened afterwards with Bush's Heisman, Young's descent into a laughingstock and LenDale White losing 40 lbs. from giving up tequila. The game was super exciting, and I for one will remember watching it for much longer than Oklahoma vs. Boise State, which really was just one play and a marriage proposal. On-field marriage proposal from game hero > Lendale White losing weight. And I would take Michael Vick's one-man show against FSU as the greatest individual performance ever. Young may have put up bigger numbers - and his team DID win - but Vick had waaaaaaay less help. He was running for his life the entire game and still managed to nearly steal the title from a vastly superior opponent. That said, I'd take a doc on either game. The USC/Texas one certainly has a lot more off-field stories going for it. Boise/OK has the marriage proposal and that's about it for non-football stuff. I disagree. Reggie Bush and Lendale White are two of the best runningbacks in the history of USC (They combined for 7960 yards from scrimmage and 95 touchdowns). Think about that, they shared carries and Reggie Bush is third all time in yards and Lendale White is first all time in touchdowns...for USC runningbacks. Matt Leinart won the Heisman trophy the previous year and were basically considered the best offensive team in history. Vince Young beat those guys, Mike Vick was playing against a team that's best player was Peter Warrick and lost. For all their offensive prowess, USC wasn't much on defense. The opposite was true with FSU - they were stacked on defense. And, oh yeah, they had a guy who would win the Heisman 11 months later playing QB.

He was fine in 07 and 08. In 09, he hurt his groin in the WBC and didn't tell anyone about it before straining his shoulder and missing half the year with that. In 10, he had a lot of nagging injuries. In 11, he blew out his elbow, probably related to some of those nagging injuries. In 12, he still wasn't all the way back from his TJ and was awful. Add to that, he basically started walking a lot more guys in 2008. 94 walks in 167 innings (5.0 per 9) after 80 in 204 innings the year before (3.5 per 9). When his stuff dropped off a bit - injuries or whatever - he didn't have the control to make up for it. Guys who don't throw strikes AND don't have dominating stuff get lit up. And that's what happened with him the last 5 years.

Haven't played it - despite it sitting on my hard drive for over a year - but the ps3 version was received very favorably.

When she's being bland, mopey, and personality-free, she's not acting.I don't get the appeal of her either.

Consider Ohio's national championship season (2003): - they scored 40+ four times - they scored 30+ two other times - they scored under 20 four times Obviously, it's a miracle to win four games in a season where you score under 20 (including one 10-6 win over a pretty good Purdue team). But that's not what we're looking here. I'm saying look at the schizophrenic nature of that offense - as many games under 20 as over 40. That's disconcerting in a really good team. And that's what has me worried about Vesty McLiarSon running the offense in Detroit. Yes, they averaged 35 a game when Troy Smith was the QB but...

Personally, #8 troubles me. The obvious fallout from a rule like that is Charlie forcing - or just strongly encouraging - injured players to practice. And creating a culture where guys are encouraged/forced to not report injuries or play through them or whatever. And I find that a bit troubling when talking about amateur players.
-
Let's not beat around the bush here: It's clear that, true or not, Charlie Strong thinks there's a "thug" element to the current Longhorn roster and culture. Charlie also clearly associates dudes wearing earrings with thug culture. And that's where he's going with that rule.

The only think that immediates springs to mind as a modern comperable is Oscar Pistorius And even that is a minor blip compared to the OJ thing.

See, I don't even care that Tressel was the coach at Ohio or that his ethics are questionable. That hire bothers me more because Ohio wasn't exactly known for having dynamic - or even consistent - offenses despite having stud athletes all over the place.
