  1. ...you know McLovin as the guy from Kick-Ass? Yeah. Somehow I've never seen Superbad. Just one of those movies that stays in my "want to watch" list that somehow never gets watched.
  2. Looks like mine (June 20)'s pretty sparse. Wrestling Don West Koko B Ware Non-Wrestling John Goodman Nicole Kidman the kid who played the villain in the Kick Ass movies (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) Bob Vila Tress MacNeille (Babs Bunny and Dot for the win) Brian Wilson Martin Landau Audie Murphy
  3. No Matt, don't eat Hamburger Nicki Minaj! She's perfectly safe as a hamburger. Now if she'd dressed as grapes, on the other hand...
  4. I hated to hear that news this morning. Cardy was an incredible artist, and some of his Teen Titans covers are still among my favorites of that time. His techniques were just incredible, especially considering the cruder printing techniques then.
  5. I hate to read this, but I can definitely understand Willingham wanting to take a break. He's said that he's open to revisiting the characters eventually, so hopefully we'll at least get some more novels like Peter & Max.
  6. Not really except for crossovers like Unity, which would make no sense if you weren't reading the entire story. Chaos Effect's the other big crossover, but it seemed to keep the focus on the characters in the book and how they react to what's going on. Unity has a lot of scenes involving characters in other books and trying to mix them all together into one coherent universe.
  7. Only if Nikita can be the commissioner who debuts and claims that Mother Russia has begun her invasion of degenerate American wrestling.
  8. Not trying to be a Priest apologist here, but there are a couple of mitigating factors for the final issue numbers. The first 18 issues sold over 10,000 copies each, then Acclaim yanked the comics division. When the book came back, the company had been all but dormant for a year. Add in the fact that the last issues (like all of the final Acclaim books) were extremely late and retailers quite possibly had their orders cancelled and resolicited. As far as I'm aware, Quantum & Woody is also considered one of the best books that Acclaim was putting out at the time. The new books just a miniseries, so I doubt that sales will kill it prematurely. I'll give it a shot and am looking forward to it. I think that Quantum & Woody was a great book, and I'm looking forward to revisiting the characters by their creators.
  9. Hate to see YA winding down, but I've heard that the writer said that he only planned on a 15 issue run to tell his story. If the book continues I'll pick up the next few issues, but I'm afraid it won't be the must-read for me that it's been. As far as NYCC, looking forward to the new X-Factor. I'm curious about the Miracleman reprints (I've never read any MM stuff but I've heard really good things). I may give Loki a flip through on the stand before I make up my mind about it.
  10. Late to the party, but seconded. The only flaw to it is that it cuts off when Jimmy Hart leaves the company, so you miss out on stuff like the Dundee/Landell/Mantell stuff that wound up launching Jeff Jarrett's career (with a great promo by Jerry Jarrett) and Tommy Rich/Austin Idol shaving Lawler's head.
  11. It wasn't bad. I went for 2 days (Friday and Saturday) and wished I'd only gone Friday night. The crowds were smaller and I was able to see most of the people I wanted to. Only exception was that I don't believe that Alan Davis's line closed down until they turned out the lights for the night.
  12. Sorry to bump an old post, but I went to Mid Ohio last year. It wasn't a bad time, although I was disappointed that Stan Lee wasn't there. Still got to meet Mike McKone, Humberto Ramos, and Tony Isabella, so mission accomplished there, but I was really looking forward to seeing Stan. Then I found out that was the weekend he had a pacemaker put in, so it's impossible to stay upset about it. Hoping to catch him next year in Louisville.
  13. I was going to bring up Lex Luger - from the Narcissist to All-American Bus Ridin' Hero. His appearance didn't change, but a massive character change.
  14. I think that the thing with Wolfman was that he burned out really badly by the end of the New Titans stuff (trust me - the end of the book is absolutely horrible.) I've read a few things by him lately - the Devil's Due Defex had potential - but the magic he had at the start of New TT and Crisis just isn't there, or at least it wasn't yet. Games was great, but that was him and Perez together again (and he'd started the story 20+ years ago). I'll give his Superboy run a shot. Even a mediocre Wolfman's much better than what DC's been pushing out to this point on that book.
  15. According to Kevin Sullivan in his End of WCW DVD from Kayfabe Commentaries, he says it was all Hogan
  16. One of my favorite Gambit pieces - by Greg Hildebrandt. On a funny side note - I had one of these and it got destroyed in various moves. Bought a new house and picked up another copy of the poster to go in my comic room. The poster never made it to the new place. That was a couple of years ago and I'm still not sure whatever happened to it.
  17. Does that mean that Darren Young would also have to stay celibate to be the perfect Anti-Cena?
  18. Somewhere, Teddy Hart is looking on in envy. I demand a match between Daniel Bryan with an army of goats and Teddy Hart with his trained cats immediately if not sooner.
  19. Best is easily Benoit-Regal from Pillman 2000. Worst I'm not sure of, although I can probably guess the promotion it would have come from.
