  1. Ozawa strikes me as being in the same boat as The Gunns in AEW a couple of years ago. You can see the potential, but he's just too young and inexperienced right now to be thrust into that role like he was. Hopefully he grows into it, the way that Tanahashi did from 2006-08.
  2. Last weekend my daughter decided she wanted BLT's for dinner. So we went to the store and got all the stuff we needed, and she decided that she wanted maple bacon. It seemed a little weird, but whatever. So, I'm looking for a good condiment to put on it, and I come across hot honey. Let's just say MBLT's have been added to our favorite dinner rotation.
  3. My kiddo had her wisdom teeth out yesterday, so I figured it was the perfect chance to start something new. I literally got about a page in whenI got called to the back because she's a minor, so I had to be with her for the doctor to give the overview on the process. Then, they basically told me to go wait in the car. The wife called and after we talked, I got about two more words in before they came out and told me that she was all done. So, hopefully at somet point this weekend I'll be starting "The Thursday Murder Club" because I've heard great things about it.
  4. I don't think any of the Strong belts are going anywhere, unless they decide that running shows stateside is more hassle than its worth. I could see the NEVER strap getting 86'd and making the six man ones into IWGP titles.
  5. I finally got through the rest of the show: GHC Tag: Fun enough spectacle, with Marufuji and Sugiura selling everything from Omos like death, and having something of a regular match with Morris. The frog splash off Omos' shoulders should have been the finish, but I can see why they'd want the big man to get the winning pin. Nakamura/Sasaki: I've never been a huge Nakamura fan. Most of this match is why, it wasn't awful but it wasn't especially interesting either. The finish run had most of the good stuff, and I got a chuckle out of Nakamura escaping the Triangle with the mist. GHC Heavyweight: Too fucking long. The best comparision I can make is the AEW Tag Titles match with FTR and the Gunns. The Gunns weren't anywhere close to being ready for that spot, it showed. Same thing here with Ozawa. They both showed some cool spots, but this didn't need to go for nearly 30. I also watched KENTA vs. Kenoh again, and I can only assume I'd burned myself out by watching too much wrestling over the weekend. Because, yeah, I liked it much more the second time around. There were a couple of thing that I appaparently just didn't notice the first time around, which is why I'm attributing it to burnout. I didn't think it was great, the PK sequence at the end went on a bit too long, and KENTA jumping up after one just for another to put him back down looked stupid. But I'll admit it was better than I thought.
  6. Glad you liked it. Maybe I'll give it another look after I finish get through the whole show (only the GHC match left). In other news that amuses me greatly, whoever was doing color for the NJ/AEW Dynasty show decided to go into business for himself and bury AEW and Coach Tony, resulting in New Japan suspending him for two months.
  7. I felt the need to check out something current, so I fired up the NOAH show from 1/1. I'm only up to the GHC Jr. match so far, because I can only watch so much in one sitting. But I haven't seen a damn thing that makes me want to check out NOAH with any sort of regularity. I've enjoyed Galeno del Mal in GLEAT, but seeing him in a singles match shows me why he's usually booked in eight man tags. But, if they want to keep booking Kazuyuki Fujita in matches with one minute time limits, I'm all for it! A few folks on the TwitX raved about KENTA vs. Kenoh, but it didn't do a damn thing for me.
  8. My family's curse with someone getting sick over the Christmas holiday remains intact! This year it's the wife. It started Saturday and after a late night trip to the ER (because she insisted on waiting until after World's End, since I'd already ordered it). Short version: They drew blood and took a urine sample, gave her some IV fluids and then sent us on our way with a script for dizziness meds. After a few days and no change at all, we went back this morning. They took more blood and piss, which all looked normal and then ran a CAT scan which looked normal. The doctor noticed some reddness in one ear, so he took another look and then checked the other and said it was even more red. So, a middle ear infection seems to be the culprit. We got more scripts for the diziness stuff as well as a steroid and antibiotic and hopefully that does the trick. Otherwise it's off to the ETN.
  9. I mostly enjoyed the show. Honestly, my favorite thing to come out of the C2 has been this Ricochet heel turn, and he's killing it. I seriously hope they keep using him. The only thing that I wasn't too high on was the main event. It felt like the main event from a taped episode of Smackdown from the 2010's. I was totally shocked when Okada won. I think everyone and their brother "knew" that it was going to be Ospreay.
  10. A couple of months ago, the government brought a suit declaring that Google was monopoly and needed to be broken up. It's apparently headed for court sometime in the spring.
  11. I was nervous about the 4K because I'd heard how awful the T-2 4K was, and all the issues with the cameron 4K's earlier this year. But, I hadn't heard anything on this one. I just fired it up to check the scooter scene. I see what Phantom Lord is referring to, but it's literally a split second and it's more because it's a wide shot than anything else. If they didn't have the first shot of her riding and showing the reflective shades, then it'd definitely look fucked up. And yeah, with how Halloween, Alien, and now Terminator has started fucking up perfectly good stories and cannons, I've started calling them Choose Your Own Adventure.
  12. Aside from that one week that the TV listing said it was on, but it was some movie with Rocky Johnson's son and the guy that plays King Kong.
  13. Oh hell, that'd be great. Renee sees Toni wandering backstage and asks what she's doing, and she says she's looking for for CD because she'd like to get a match on Rampage.
  14. The wife is worried that Google is going to get shut down, so I've been working on copying everything she had on google drive over to an external.
  15. I've finally managed to get the 40th Anniversary 4K steelbook of The Terminator to go with my T-2 Blu-Ray steelbook. And I already explained to my daughter that those are the only two movies in the franchise that matter. I actually think I'm nearing the end of my physical media collecting days. At the moment, I can only think of maybe half a dozen films that I'd like to own physical copies of, mostly because of my OCD as far complete collections go.
  16. So the semi finals are the Ospreay/Fletcher rematch and Okada taking on......Bitch-ochet?
  17. The wife got me two pairs of sneakers and some socks, since I have big feet and always have trouble getting stuff in my size. One daughter got me a Penguin (as in Oswald Cobblepot/Oz Cobb) t shirt, and the other got me the Blu-Ray of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning and a Jersey of the legendary Polk High running back who socred four touchdowns in one game. Which is totally what I'm wearing to dinner tonight!
  18. I've been calling the Wardlow return at the PPV from the moment that Cole vs. MJF was made official. Wardlow turns on MJF (hell they planted the seed for their issues three days after the Undisputed Kingdom was formed) and MJF and Wardlow are back to being a thing. My Continental Classic prediction is Ospreay vs. Okada and Fletcher vs. Claudio to set up the Ospreay/Fletcher rematch. And since we won't know how the C2 shakes out until Wednesday (theoretically). That leaves all of the C2 guys without anything else going on, so I'm figuring a Contintental 8 man tag. Garcia/Darby/Briscoe/Komander vs. Shelton/Ricochet/Brody/Mortos
  19. He hasn't done a AAA show since August when he dropped their Cruiserweight strap, he's pretty much stayed out of Mexico except for a couple of indy shots. I know CMLL had a bug up their ass about Luchadores in AEW, because the orignal Forbidden Door was supposed to be Ospreay vs. Andrade and CMLL nixed it because they had heat with Andrade. But, they seem to have cooled off a lot this year.
  20. The Volador/Pac thing seemed like it was red hot back in the summer, when Death Triangle did that shot in Arena Mexico. Then CMLL/AEW just left it alone for five months, and recently had Volador turn. So the whole thing pretty much cooled down and nobody seemed to care. And I'm totally with you with Soberano in that spot, but honestly, it's pretty hard to not tear down the house with The Bastard.
  21. My theory is that KO carries the strap around and calls himself the real champ, with Cody being out to put over the piledriver angle. Then at the next SNME they bring Jesse back and do a cage match and re-do the Hogan/Orndorff tie finish, and then do a ladder match at the Royal Rumble to decide it for good.
  22. Funnily enough, AEW kicked off Collision with a few pre tapes last night for the first time in ages. Only for Cody/KO, but he was great. He sounded like he hadn't lost a step, talking about how KO is really the person in the right for this whole situation.
  23. The only things missing to make this a real SNME throwback were the pre-tape promos to start off the show, and the logo graphics before each match.
  24. One of my work friends was on a jury for something like that. It was a domestic violence issue where both people involved had already been charged with a couple of other things that were the result of it. This particular case was that the man poked her in the forehead and that's what caused things to turn physical. So the state was charging him with battery and looking for ten years, all because he poked her. And the DA made it clear that was the only issue that they were deciding. It was a very quick deliberation and acquital.
  25. I had a little bit of tire fun myself yesterday. I'm driving home from work Tuesday and my tire pressure indicator light comes on. That's not exactly a shocker since it was barely 40 degrees in Carlsbad that day. And it's always the same tire that seems to dislike the cold weather. Yesterday morning I notice that the car seems to be struggling a bit on the road, but there's an air pump at work so I can just put some air in it when I get there. Nope! Someone has decided to park their flatbed pickup perpendicular to the pump, so that I can't even pull up close to it. I go to leave at the end of the day and my car is now looking lopsided because that tire is so low. Fortunately, I'm able to just pull right up and air it. Then I spend the whole drive home and most of the night being paranoid that the tire is seriously fucked and will I even be able to get to work the next day? Short answer: Yes, I checked it first thing this morning and it's looking fine. But, I've been meaning to replace my front tires for a bit now, so this is just the kick in the ass to actually do it.
