  1. The First Omen is slated to be released on April 5th of this year, as a prequel to the original 1976 Omen. As a huge fan of the original trilogy, I'm intrigued by it. But with how the timeline of the original films was so skewed. I'm wondering if they're really going to make it seem crazy and put it in modern times.
  2. Pixar doing an action flick is actually a pretty accurate description of it. The movie is an OK way to waste a couple of hours, but the book is great.
  3. If we don't get a Blu Ray or 4K Steelbook release of A Nightmare On Elm Street this year, then we probably never will.
  4. Unless WWE is willing to offer him money and dates similar to what they're doing with Brock, then I just don't think it's in the cards. If anything, I think he'll just be something akin to a 2004-07 Kensuke Sasaki. Basically working for whatever groups can meet his price, and seem to offer him something interesting. This Nakajima thing, and now talking about NXT, certainly gave All Japan some buzz. Imagine if Okada went into NOAH and announced that he wanted to challenge Kenoh for the GHC.
  5. The more I think about it, the more it sounds like the plot of that movie "Stay Tuned" where John Ritter is TV obsessed. But yeah, his wife wanted to come down and see the family for her birthday. And the day they were all set to go out and celebrate, they couldn't because he'd have to miss his precious football game.
  6. Honestly, the only thing I specifically recall from the Directors Cut is when Lambert slaps Ripley for not letting them back on the ship after the facehugger gets him. And I completely get why they cut it out, since it’s such a contrast to the later scene when she’s paralyzed with fear.
  7. This week may very well be the last time I ever see my brother in law (wife's sister's husband) outside of a facetime call or the sister in law posting a photo on social media. Her birthday was this week, so they came down to NM from NY so that she could spend it with the family, and he was a miserable prick for the entire time they were down here. Making snide comments left and right and just generally acting like he didn't want to be here. Including deciding that instead of going up to Ruidoso, NM (a mountain resort town about 45 minute NW) with a shitload of stuff to do, that they should just stay in town and go out for dinner. I made a smart ass comment to my wife that they probably weren't going because he said he couldn't miss the Bills game. And when my wife told her mother about it, she said that's exactly what it was. They left on Wednesday and the wife got the full details from her mother about how terrible the last four days had been, and she's pretty sure that it'll be the last time that he ever comes down here again. Even my kids (aged 14 and 12) were talking about it. I asked them "It was nice seeing Aunt H***** wasn't it?" and they'd say yes. Then I'd ask "What about Uncle S*****?" and it was a resounding no.
  8. To answer your question, no. Me being the asshole is usually never in doubt. However, the "we" in my original anecdote refers to me and my friend, the kid's father. So it's not like I'm just randomly calling his son "Hook" and nobody else knows why. She absolutely gets why we do it, she's just not amused by it.
  9. Just for shits and giggles, would you be considering the theatrical cut of Alien, or the Director's Cut? I have some sort of recollection that Ridley Scott considers the DC version to be the "real" film.
  10. That's actually not too far off. A couple of weeks ago I went over to their place for the Michigan/Washington football game. The kid came up and said hello and I gave him a high five and said "How's it going, Hook?" and her eyes rolled so hard that it sounded like she was bowling.
  11. It’s a cool idea. But it strikes me more as a Blu Ray special feature than something getting a full on theatrical release. But, if it makes them more money and keeps Toho releasing them over here, more power to them.
  12. With her Outcasts attire and the original “Watch What’s Next” theme song.
  13. My friend’s son has that exact hairstyle and it’s almost the same color. We always call him Hook, which his mother hates with a passion.
  14. Whenever I see anyone say something like "No Mercy was the best wrestling game for N64" I have to jump in and correct them. that it's actually VPW2 Sure, it was cool to have the updated roster and do shit like ladder matches and double teams like the 3D. But, the slowdown in tag matches and especially tag team ladder matches was the deal breaker for me. I'll be eagerly awaiting the release of Ultra Pro Wrestlng, sometime this year.
  15. Christian vs. Dustin was fucking awesome. When Dustin kicked out after the first Killswitch, I started thinking that Copeland was going to run in and cause a title switch.
  16. I checked out the first episode of "After Midnight" on Paramount Plus this morning. I've become a big fan of Taylor Tomlinson from her Netflix specials. But, I don't see this sort of improv game show thing lasting too terribly long. Although, Whitney Cummings was absolutely hysterical!
  17. The wife and I are two episodes in, and have been laughing our asses off.
  18. Southeast New Mexico is under a windchill warning until later on this morning. It's presently 8 degrees outside, with the high temp today being a whopping 38. Just for context, a typical winter temperature down here is still pushing 60.
  19. Given the stellar job he did in Detroit and then in New England, I'm shocked that Matt Patricia hasn't been able to unlock Philly's defense.
  20. When Pitt got that third down stop, my wife yells out "Pittsburgh just sucks" I ask what she means, since they'd just made a big play and she says "Look at the score, and all that guy did was just swat the ball." The next play, they block the FG and then score a TD. I told her that I think they heard her and she made them angry.
  21. It's crazy how easily all of this could have been completely avoided. All Perry needed to do was take thirty seconds to go up to Punk and say "I've got an idea on how to get myself a little bit of extra heel heat." On a positive note though, Perry doing New Japan Strong means that we don't have to worry about the Jurassic Express reunion that nobody has asked for.
  22. Get "Smart" Mark Sterling on the phone! I honestly think it's for the best. It feels like life has gone on without Perry, and bringing him back now would just make him feel like a retread. Keep him with New Japan for the foreseeable future, and maybe do something with him at Forbidden Door and let him cut some scathing promo about how AEW did him wrong and try to create some buzz for him.
  23. I just finished the novelization of "The Omen" by David Seltzer. I've always been a big fan of the original trilogy, and then I found out that in addition to the original three movIes, there were novels penned for two other stories. Aside from a few odd changes from the movie (the main one being the protagonist's name is changed to Jeremy Thorn) it's quite good. There's some rudimentary backstory given to some of the side characters that makes for interesting reading. Next on my list is "Safari" by Parnell Hall. It's book number 19 in his Stanley Hastings mystery series. And I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys either mysteries or light hearted stories. I've actually been taking my time in getting to this one because there's twenty books in the series. Parnell Hall passed away in 2020 (fuck Covid) and I'm dreading finishing the series.
  24. My issue is the fact that after the whole thing got blown up, DC was still dead set on going for two. Even without the offsides call on Dallas, there was still no way that was going to work out for them.
  25. Chicago taking apart the Falcons also puts me in the awkward position of needing to root for the Packers tonight.
