  1. I may be misremembering, but I know at one point they were partnered with whoever runs MLB.tv and then they left, so it's at least possible.
  2. I had a few AWA VHS given to me as a kid of various TVs along with Superclash III and that was also my first real exposure to any American wrestling outside of WWF/WCW/ECW. But that was way after they shut down, at least 6 or 7 years.
  3. Cheap Seats def played at least one UWF episode, but I wasn't sure if it ever aired outside of that either until @Eoae confirmed above
  4. Quick question for anyone who was around at the time: What promotions other than GWF and AWA aired on ESPN? Ive found a few sources online saying USWA and WCCW but mostly just reddit threads, nothing too concrete.
  5. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/22/media/nbc-sports-network-shut-down/index.html Spitballing here, but if theoretically one of these sports properties catches on big with USA, for example NASCAR or something, are Raw/NXT in trouble come renegotiation time if they're no longer the top shows on the network? I'm not hoping for it or anything, I'm just nterested in TV and sports TV stuff like this outside of wrestling.
  6. It's gonna be great when they strike the right tone of comedy and threat. Like the Russian mob heels on Delocated or Barry or something. I loved the Charles Taylor stuff last night
  7. I caught that on the broadcast, @The Natural mine came in the mail today coincidentally. Very classy of Sting
  8. Man, yeah time for Jericho to take FTRs advice: no flips, just fists. I immediately thought of Hayabusa. Other than that near miss, the main event was probably my favorite match of the night. Also: Nick Camorato vs Mox!! Hell yeah man. I was just saying in the Dark thread how I loved that dude. Hope he gets more shots on the main show in due time. Continuing to love Kenny and Gallows/Anderson as the NWO, and I have to say, I'm really, really enjoying Don Callis. He is quickly becoming a talker on the level of Paul E when the Brock stuff was still really fresh
  9. Ratings wise? Probably not tonight, I think there's a lot of ceremonial stuff people might tune into. But I agree, let's get back to boring. Please. For the love of God. Looking forward to a very interesting card.
  10. I fucking love Nick Camorato, dude. He's such a WCW weekend show guy, and I mean that with the highest amount of praise possible.
  11. This has annoyed me since day one. It's also sort of I think conditioned the audience to expect some kind of contrived beef for no reason. When AEW started last year, a frequent question from my girlfriend was "Why are these two guys fighting?" As though there had to be some silly WWF-ass "it's PERSONAL now!" sentiment behind it, rather than two guys wrestling because they're booked to wrestle on the wrestling show. The Giants didn't need to feed the Steelers laxative filled burritos to hype their game, they just go out and play. It's a great approach.
  12. I agree with the second half of your post, but I can't believe you're doing Kip like that! I think that guy is going to be a huge star someday if handled right. I see him as a young future cornerstone with your MJFs, Darbys, Jungle Boys, Sammys, Starks, Wardlows etc.
  13. I was thinking the same thing as you. I remember hearing that idea floated around a lot back in 05-07 when guys were leaving for TNA. Ultimately, I'm not sure it's a one size fits all thing. I heard some interview with Ryback going over his road expenses and it was absolutely bonkers, like $150 a day on Chipotle or something. Then you hear the stories of guys like Mick Foley sleeping in nasty cheap motels and getting rides from fans. I'm sure card position has a ton to do with it too.
  14. I could be 1000% off base but my feeling is that the purpose of having him with Taz and them is to eventually turn him babyface at some point and face off with Cage for the FTW title, and having that win eventually get it sanctioned/renamed as the Super Heavyweight or Dark title, or as the top title of whatever the new show will be once it eventually launches. Maybe they even keep the name as sort of an analog to that BMF title that UFC has. Make it just a belt for guys that appeal to dads who say wrestling is bullshit but also say "this guy could've made it in the NFL" and wants a shirt with their tribal logo from the house show.
  15. This x 100. I will eat 1999-2001 WCW by the spoonful, but I'm not sure if you could pay me to watch a random current Raw or ROH TV in full
  16. I just want to say kudos to the agents tonight, because it could not have been easy to put together Jurassics/FTR and Cage/Darby without repeating some of the same big guy/small guy spots, so hats off to them for sure. I'm really looking forward to the Miro/Chuck interaction over the next month - both men have a great sense of humor in line with my own, I have a feeling they're gonna have great chemistry Edit: how the hell did I forget this... Kenny/Gallows/Anderson as NWO 2021 has been really fun so far. Loving the little details like those guys coming out of the crowd to no music... that's the hallmark of an invasion angle done well.
  17. I just turned 33 last month, you're on the money
  18. I love this! Like a pro-wrestling version of Vanilla Ice trying to claim the Ice Ice Baby beat is different from Queen/Bowie Under Pressure. "It's that itty bitty tsh"
  19. It's like he said, oh those Cody/Ascension promos were cool, let me pepper in a little racism
  20. Probably the same person who raised the God damn briefcase. And drove that white Hummer a month later.
  21. Sure, but it potentially could be longer until he tests negative, or he may have a severe case, anything's possible. Pure speculation on my part anyway, I'm not arguing one way or the other
  22. Not answering for Casey, but I mean, it's silly regardless no?
  23. As noted before, no more WWE for me, but this is worded as such that I almost guarantee Drew vacates the belt, HHH announces the Rumble is now for the title ("ONLY THE THIRD TIME EVER!!~!! HISTORY IN THE MAKING!!" will be drilled into the audience's brain for weeks), and Goldberg or like Seth Rollins or someone wins the Rumble.
  24. Does the J in your name stand for "Jim Ross" ?
  25. I fell off NXT the third or fourth week head to head with Dynamite. NXT being two hours live on USA took away everything that made it a favorite for me. Dry is the perfect word for it these days, I agree with you guys wholeheartedly
