  1. Ok guys this is a weird one but I'm haunted by it literally daily =
  2. Just to clarify, I'm not disagreeing with you. It makes no sense for an AEW, WWE, or any traditionally styled promotion etc. to do that. If it's within the confines of it's own universe and there are "rules" within that construct (for example in wrestling the Irish whip, running the ropes in general, or the catapoult - no basis in reality, but they just *are*) then it's a different deal. Obviously if it's just shoehorned into a regular ass episode Dynamite or SmackDown or whatever it's going to be the shits
  3. I was trying to think of the name of that! It was slightly before my time, but I've read about it - was there not some sort of tangential WWF involvement? And fucking shame on me for that Ed! What I was thinking was something a lot like that in presentation - picture an American Gladiators/Impact/WCW Pro type studio where it's basically one of those Batman stunt shows at Six Flags but.. hey, look, a wrestling ring You're right of course, but the other likely move is having Charlotte stay far away from the tourney and cutting the "Nia/Bayley/Sasha Bitchcakes/God, why do I suck?" promo the next night on Raw
  4. I think about this almost every single day. It's maddening. Buildings were booked!!
  5. I mean I don't disagree, but at the end of the day wrestlers are a thing unto themselves and it doesn't work without them. Otherwise, things like Battle Dome would have been way more popular than they were. Even these cinematic matches, yes they're just "fight scenes" but it's still two pro-wrestlers within the construct of a pro-wrestling narrative as versus something like, I don't know, a kung-fu movie where yes, you've got the same type of action in every one, but your guy could be a cop, hitman, criminal, etc. I'm surprised no one has licensed like, Mortal Kombat or some kind of comic book property and tried to do something vaguely resembling pro-wrestling with it.
  6. The Dynamite shows from QT's school were such dumb fun. It was almost like watching NWA Powerrr at times, with the faux-old school feel. They really did a nice job with that.
  7. How great would a Truth-led reboot of Blade be?
  8. I'm not necessarily religious but whenever I think about Kanyon, I always hope he's at peace wherever he is. I listened to a shoot with I think Raven and James Vandenberg once where they got into some of his issues and it honestly broke my heart not even as a fan but just as a guy
  9. For the old heads, I just unfortunately read Chris Hyatte passed away.
  10. Toni is a super attractive woman, but I'm most jealous of Juice's loungewear game
  11. Not just the Twitter account- it was a lot of fun. When Jarrett went back to the WWF, I was certain they'd stick Debra with the just debuted Goldberg against Mongo, but uh, Alex Wright was fine too I guess.
  12. Was that when Steve Corino was running the show? I don't remember that for some reason
  13. I said that about a decade ago when this company TNA was kinda gaining steam on cable. I said it 8 years before that when WCW died and the WWF was the only game in town. One thing I've figured out about Hulk Hogan is that if you say there isn't a chance of him showing up, it's like practically summoning him. The second you hit 'submit reply' a phone somewhere in Jacksonville started ringing, brother.
  14. Fuck known cheater Rob Gronkowski and his whole dumbass family and his stupid robot arm and his ability to torch the Steelers D every time they play oh God why am I crying
  15. I'm seeing unsubstantiated reports of some kind of inappropriate comment to Vince. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious. Who even was the last guy to get in trouble with Vince directly, Titus with the stupid arm grab thing?
  16. The current wrestling in-joke at my house is that we're the store brand Cody & Brandi (since we're an interracial couple, but not exactly in what you would call 'ring shape')
  17. 100% the exact bump I was thinking of when I posted that
  18. I'm a very casual NJPW guy, but Ibushi takes some pretty gross ones from what I've seen
  19. I was thinking that too and was going to post the same thing, but then I also thought that I seem to remember WWE usually gimmicking the LCD side of the ring apron for those with some kind of padding? I feel like I saw that a couple times but I could be wrong
  20. I just bought my first cameo ever from that dude Greg Proops from Whose Line Is It Anyway and he did a real good job. I recommend that guy.
  21. Dude, hell yes. All of them slowly turn around... It doesn't come up very often because of all the obvious flaws and missteps of the Invasion, but thats legitimately one of my favorite things to ever air on Raw. It's the slow turn and like you said, boom- the lightbulb. I hesitate to use the word because of the way it's normally used now with regard to WWE, but for a young ECW fan, it was a great moment. They're not shy about a little nod to the past here or there (Tyson last night, for example) so I'm really, really hoping it goes down like that. Plus, it's only a handful of dudes as opposed to the whole ECW roster, so I don't think it would even come to mind for most people.
  22. The brand is strong I was wondering that too. If anything, I think it might be a little foreshadowing (or, a red herring). Cody's the only other guy who drove in there in a black pickup, right? Maybe we get a Cody/FTR stable managed by Arn and Tully? I feel just awful saying it because I know Spears is busting his ass out there, but Tully is being kinda wasted on him. I guess he'd do OK with the group, but it does invite a lot of unflattering comparisons to your Paul Romas, Mark Jindraks, etc.
  23. Damn, I guess I can start checking the box for "I have not watched Raw in: more than a year" on those WWE Fan Council surveys.
  24. I mean, yes and no. The platforms are new, but the NEWZ~! is not.
