  1. I always assumed the whole "driver was a blond" thing was Russo trying to shoehorn Jarrett in there before they both ended up leaving
  2. That's a great story, @RIPPAand @Pete. Did you guys ever take the bus trips to Queens when ECW ran the Madhouse? I was just slightly too young to make it, but I bet those were a blast. I'd always end up BSing with drunk people after the show in the old AOL chat room (the Hard Core Cafe) because I couldnt wait for results or to see it on MSG
  3. Unless I've missed something over the last few years I tuned out, for me the best WWF title matches are still: 1) Punk/Cena MITB '11 2) Bret/Shawn WM XII 3) Rumble '92
  4. He could start wearing an arm cast and talk about how he's stuntin' like his daddy
  5. While we're on FTR, I wanna shout their part of the Pinnacle promo out. The way Dax said "professional wrestling" over and over again was super intense, and I really enjoyed the hell out of it.
  6. We used to get Worldwide here on CBS NY at 2 AM Saturdays right after ECW on MSG, so that works perfectly for me
  7. Cody may cost them the match or something, you never know
  8. Man, I'm really sorry to hear that about Charlotte. Hope she is doing well. Just read an article the CDC is predicting a possible spring surge, too. Stay safe all.
  9. I've been seeing this in literally every single thread lately - do people realize that the vast majority of those featured on the Dark shows aren't officially signed? It's a pretty big roster, sure, but it doesn't come close to WCW '97 or WWE today, for example. Plus, if a free agent like this becomes available, I'm sure "cap space" can be found. You really think AEW/Khan would say "Well, we'd love to have you Andrade, but we blew the budget on Colton Gunn and Luther so good luck elsewhere"?
  10. I feel like we just kinda relitigated this point with Arn's comments on Sin Cara I/Carastico recently, but you're spot on here. And by the way... did *anyone* give a shit about Andrade's English when he had a super-talented, super-beautiful, bilingual manager right there next to him? Of course they fucked that up too, but that's beside the point... there are ways around the problem that don't involve forcing a guy into English lessons so you can shove him out there with a lame-ass script to get "WHAT?"-ed to death.
  11. That's cool, man, different strokes and that. But as you alluded to, if you're looking to see Andrade in NJPW he may very well have a better shot at that now through AEW than through ROH
  12. I'd be so disappointed if Andrade ends up in ROH, man. Their TV is boring as hell and honestly, with the whole forbidden door thing, they're now a kind of irrelevant #5 at best (6 if you count NWA). Maybe a condition of the release was "Don't go to AEW, you're free to do anything else"
  13. Adding these to the pile of great WCW themes after we kinda got on the topic in the monthly thread: https://youtu.be/aQ3KG4rmgNo
  14. Yeah, I agree, I think they just very truthfully did not put as much thought into it or think music to be as important as the WWF did. Some of those songs were used over and over again, like the ones you listed, Mongo/Hak/Psicosis was another, I could think of a million. Renegade's theme was the same Marc Mero was using in the WWF, how did no one catch that? Edit: I do want to just say that I agree with your point on some of those stock themes being incredible. When they hit on a really good one like the Jericho Evenflow, Goldberg, Harlem Heat, NWO, it works really well
  15. I love the first Jericho theme! Absolutely burned in my brain from childhood. When the Network first came out and I did a Nitro rewatch, I laughed cause there was one where Jericho comes out to his first theme, then later in the show John Tenta walks out to the Evenflow theme.
  16. DDP/Goldberg is really good, probably Goldbergs best match, and there's a pretty good Sting/Bret match thats marred by a dumb as fuck finish. And then of course you have the unintentional comedy of Hogan/Warrior II... I guess if you're not into basketball, there's worse ways to kill an afternoon
  17. I'm still into garbage matches after all these years, so I know I'm overrating Rosa/Britt - self-awareness has to count for something, right? - but I completely forgot the Raw match with the Banks statement on the arena steps. That was kick ass. Not even being funny, but the follow-up must have really sucked for me to forget the match entirely
  18. I hated Smallville, but kinda grew up with the ABC Lois & Clark so I really wasn't sure what to expect, but like we talked about last week, this show's been absolutely fantastic so far. This week's "kid in trouble" subplot with the wide receiver's arm was over my head, but I'm real excited to see where it goes. I feel like this is an obvious reference I'm probably missing by not seeing the other shows, and not being up on comics since the 90s
  19. @Casey @The NaturalThat shirt is awesome. Heavy "Blood from a stone" Steve Austin vibes.
  20. I'm not sure if Team Taz is breaking up for real or not, but I wonder if what they're going to end up doing is running Cage/Archer with the winner getting Darby for the title. Or doing Cage/Archer vs Sting/Darby either as a standalone or a pit stop. I won't bore everyone with fantasy booking, but I thought of a couple good ways they could get from there to Sting/Darby eventually if that's where we're heading next.
  21. I can't even describe how happy I am for the two women involved in that main event. Wild shit. Britt has improved so much, so quickly its unbelievable, and Rosa's maybe now officially the best woman they have not named Serena. And big ups to Rebel Not Reba for the queen sized table bump, we popped big for that in my house.
