  1. That's what irks me. I can understand if you dive for a catch and needing to hold on to it all the way through the five or while tumbling. But James caught it, turned his body in a football move, and dove. Only then did it bobble. To me it's at worst a catch and a fumble...which he recovered. Damn has football gotten ridiculous when a clear catch isn't even a catch anymore.
  2. Man, remember the good old days when Ravens-Steelers meant a tight 13-10 defensive slugfest? Still a fun game despite the crazy shoot out. Not looking forward to the Pats next week tho.
  3. Pagano shouldn't be allowed on the bus for his utter incompetence on that final drive in regulation. Who the hell plays for a 45 yard FG in a blizzard?
  4. Glad the Steelers pulled this one out but what an absolute fiasco. These Steeler-Bengals games are near unwatchable with all the penalties and bullshit.
  5. I'm glad people in this thread (mostly) enjoyed Justice League. I just saw it and I don't want to be a punch bowl pooper so I'll leave it at I hated it. Like it was worse than Suicide Squad, and I thought SS was the lowest low bar superhero movies could hit. Snyder's entire aesthetic is awful and Whedon's "Look at me! I'm so clever and quippy!" act has reached its sell by date. To me, Wonder Woman was a near perfect movie but the CGI Boss Fight at the end was pretty much universally despised...this movie is one CGI Boss Fight after the other with a bunch of poorly written nonsensical plot developments/character introductions pasted between. Just terrible. Speaking of WW, I think the thing that offended me most about this movie was how Jenkins created a beautifully crafted superhero fable about a strong gorgeous woman who was somebody boys and girls could both look up to. Then Snyder comes along like a cameraman from the Attitude Era and continuously shoots upskirts and leering close-ups of Gadot's ass. If I was DC, I'd back up a truck to Jenkins' and beg her to take over the inevitable JLA2 because I think she's the only filmmaker they've hired so far who "gets it."
  6. Well I'm out of my survivor because of the Giants owning of the AFC West. Fuck you, Andy Reid.
  7. I haven't done my sci-fi rundown in awhile so... Trek Discovery has improved a lot since its become more of an ensemble instead of focusing exclusively on Michael. This past week's episode was your standard time loop story I think every Trek show has done but it was saved by Rainn Wilson's awesomeness as Harry Mudd. I'm kinda sad Abrams wasn't smart enough to turn Mudd into a narcissistic sociopath and make him the big bad instead of totally fucking up Khan. Orville is just fantastic TV. I think Macfarlane bait and switched them because the first couple eps were very sitcomy but the last month or so the show has basically become straight sci-fi. The Krill episode was amazing and this past week they found a breakout character in Isaac. I'm glad to hear Fox learned from their blunders with other great sci-fi shows and already greenlit season 2. It really is the most perfect Trek show since TNG.
  8. What are you guys talking about? Jacoby Brissett came into a game like six days after being traded. And he's started ever since. Jimmy G will be the starting QB in three games max. Even knowing 1/4 of the offense he couldn't be worse than Hoyer/Beathard.
  9. Mercury Morris...POP THE CHAMPAGNE!
  10. Caught up with my sci-fi shows. This week's Star Trek: Lense Flare was a big improvement over the first two, primarily because of Jason Isaacs as the new captain. He's trying something different - a genuinely creepy captain - while injecting some much needed gravitas. The rest of the episode was pretty blah. I've come to the conclusion the biggest problem is Michael isn't as interesting as they think she is. Meanwhile, Orville hit it out of the park this week. Best episode yet and one that would've fit right in during the prime years of TNG. T-Bag was great and we had the cameo of the year. The last two weeks Macfarlane has really gotten the balance between silly and serious just right.
  11. Caught up with this week's Orville and I'm comfortable saying it's the best Star Trek series since TNG. Although it's much more true to the spirit of TOS than anything else they've ever done. Certainly makes it easier to cancel the CBS app after my week trial is over since it's a billion times better than Star Trek: Lense Flares.
  12. Saw Alien last night. I mostly enjoyed it. As a prequel it worked far better than Prometheus but overall it's not nearly in the same league as the first three Aliens. Interestingly, Scott suffers from a similar problem that plagued Lucas in the first two Star Wars prequels. Namely, the first movie spends a ton of time explaining/setting stuff up that is either unimportant or could've been easily explained with a few scenes in the second. As for Covenant itself, it's well acted and directed so that's why I say I enjoyed it but it isn't scary unless you're extremely sensitive (or have never seen any of the Quadrilogy films) and nothing really new or memorable happened. As much as I disliked Prometheus, there's nothing in this one that rises to the level of the MedPod Self-Surgery scene. It's basically just Xenomorph's Greatest Hits. The characters were just kind of there. McBride was the best of the bunch and as someone mentioned he showed some pretty good dramatic range in addition to being the comedy guy. I think what bugged me more than anything was how fucking stupid just about everyone acted. If the scientist taking off his helmet and getting bit by the Alien Cobra in Prometheus bugged you, the people in this one will drive you nuts. Fassbender was the best thing in the movie, from both storyline and acting perspectives. But it really irked me that the writers basically just cribbed his entire story from Star Trek TNG: I guess in conclusion I'll just say if you like Alien movies, you'll probably like this because it stays faithful to the material. But if you're expecting Scott to do something new or unexpected with the idea, you're going to be sorely disappointed.
  13. Jersey and Philly vault into the top 2. That's some quality working the draft, Bettman.
  14. Browns, Niners and Jets trading away from/passing on QB looks like they're going all in in a three way race for Darnold.
  15. No I assume the trade was because Chicago thought San Fran was talking trade with another team and didn't want somebody to jump ahead of them.
  16. I was at the show and nobody seemed to hate the match. It was quiet during stretches because the match was really long and HHH working the knee by grabbing hold isn't going to get people going after being outside in 85 degree heat for 5+ hours. Plus, honestly, Seth wasn't that liked. He had a few chants but most of the response to him was either lukewarm or would die after 20 guys tried to get a chant going. I'd describe the reactions as boredom/apathy until the end when the Pedigree reversals and so forth got the crowd excited again. Oh, Roman got the shit booed out of him. Maybe they muted the crowd or something because he got easily the most hate of anybody on the show. There were a few small smatterings of Roman supporters but they'd immediately get drowned out by people chanting "Roman sucks" or otherwise hurling insults at him. I was at Mania 28 in Miami and I'd say Cena had more support that day than Roman had last night. The only reason it quieted down is it became very very apparent they were doing Flair-HBK where Taker can't win but is just too stubborn to stay down so we just wanted the match to end so we could salute Undertaker and head home. I don't know how it came across on TV or if maybe the ringside rows were different but around the Zombie Sit-up Collapse, it seemed like everybody knew he was losing.
  17. I was at Mania yesterday and thought overall it was a great experience! My only previous Mania was 28 in Miami and I gotta say the pop for the Hardys was at least equal to the one Rock got when he pinned Cena. Place went absolutely insane. Even little kids. At 28 the "Yes!" chant was the "cool" chant and last night it was definitely "Delete!" - it'd come and go all night. Our parking pass said lot opens at 5:30 so we were surprised when we saw online on the way in that the show started at 5. I wanted to see the CW match but I'm sorta glad we didn't get there until a bit after 6 because even then sitting there for 6+ hours was just too much. You can't really go by crowd reaction for the last few matches because people were drunk, tired, and just burnt out by then. Plus that bug shit in the Bray match utterly confused everybody. Every time it happened people either laughed or just sat in silent confusion. Oh I was one of the legendary posters who asked "Who's Pitbull?" first time he appeared on Raw but I have to say he was a big hit live...people were dancing in the aisles and the crowd seemed to really enjoy his performance. Overall I thought it was a good, definitely not great show in terms of matches but I'm glad I can say I saw the Hardys return and Taker's swan song.
  18. Boy that was some bullshit at the end of WIchita St-Kentucky. I know refs tend to swallow whistles so they don't affect the game but c'mon.
  19. Wow I knew he was the best thing in Luke Cage but I didn't expect him to win an Oscar on his first try. Good on Ali.
  20. The thing that cracked me up about last night's 24 was I read an article about the reboot last week and the producer was like, "Yes, this one exists in the previous continuity but we have to stand on our own and are not just going to reference the prior version for cheap pops" - 15 minutes in newbie analyst is all, "I learned from my uncle, EDGAR STYLES."
  21. I do appreciate Gaga dressing exactly like the Dazzler. Who knew she was an old school Marvel fan?
  22. Amazing game. Mason Crosby is the Aaron Rodgers of kickers.
  23. Oh man Rodgers had the kill shot and threw a bad pass. I'd stop going at Lee too because he's playing like a man possessed.
