I almost feel bad for the 49ers, the injury bug has killed them this year and even when they are more healthy they can't get anything together due to not having a full practice week ever with their entire team. That being said, this game is fun.

Well I have some good news for you as today hundreds of fans are shoveling.

SURVIVOR SERIES XXXVIII: WARGAMES - 11/30/2024
Kevin Wilson replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in WWE PROGRAMMING
I mostly echo other's thoughts, although I thought the triple threat was the best match on the card (followed very closely by the main event). What confuses me about wrestling (not just WWE, all wrestling) is most the decision makers in the back either have been watching wrestling their whole lives or in WWE's case were wrestlers themselves for several decades. And yet they sometimes make baffling decisions I, sitting at home watching, could have warned them about. I don't understand how the decision makers thought starting with Nia/Bayley was a good idea. We've seen in past matches that Nia and Bayley have little chemistry (for whatever reason), and Nia is just too uncoordinated with limited ring awareness for this style of match. How those chair spots happened for example with a bunch of veteran wrestlers I have no idea but it took the air out of the match. I'm not saying Nia should be released as she does have her strengths, being the anchor for a 40 minute match is not it. Imagine if it started with Iyo and Tiffany, or anyone else, how the crowd would have stayed in it and it would have started things off on the right foot. I don't pretend to know more about wrestling than Triple H or Chris Park or Devon Dudley, that would be extremely pretentious of me and that's not the case at all. But I could have told anyone not to do that, having Nia come in 3rd or 4th and just wreck everyone upon entry would have made a much smoother total match and still put her over. -
I know I am the Coach Defender on this board as I think generally speaking fans are too quick to blame the coach every time something goes wrong. BUT. There are certainly times its not working and Eberflus clearly wasn't working. Yesterday was just the final straw but there were just too many examples of bad plays, bad calls, players saying crazy things, slow player development, it was too much. Some coaches are just better at being coordinators than head coaches, its not the same skillset, and maybe Eberflus is just one of those.
-
I was with family so I couldn't post on the board but I'm glad it was properly discussed what a dumb fuck Eberflus is. I'm not giving a pass to Caleb Williams as I dunno what the fuck he was doing either and this game situation hasn't changed since he played high school football, but ultimately its still the coaches responsibility to call timeout once it clearly was going off the rails.

Barring injury I doubt he'll be called up/active this year. I just can't see him catching up with the playbook/getting chemistry enough with the WRs in such a short time that they'd have him be the 'official' backup on game day. But not bad for Minn to have stashed on the practice squad an experienced starter just in case.
-
Somehow Alabama is going to get in, I can feel it in my bones.

Daniel Jones apparently being a hot commodity has me laughing and shaking my head. I'm sure he is better than some current backups on paper but a below average QB joining a new team to learn a new offense in December just seems like a bad idea. I can see him getting interest going into next year, you don't start as long as he did and not have some suitors thinking they can fix him, but what value he brings this late into the season I have no idea.

Since the Finals is at World's End, I don't know if Okada vs. Ospreay is too predictable but that would be my guess for the Finals.
-
Continental Classic a fun mixture of higher end wrestlers and a few surprises. Was not expecting Benjamin to be in this.

I love that guy, makes it harder to google my name and actually find me. Everyone needs a "famous" person that shares their name.

I thought it was a great show with only two matches I'd even have in the range of average (opening tag and Perry/Garcia) with multiple matches at ****+ if I had to give star ratings. The ending was... unusual but doesn't take away from the matches themselves to me, but it felt like it needed some type of surprise to pop the crowd. For example if Adam Copeland came out and speared Christian so he couldn't cash in, that would have been a better ending and less convoluted (not saying he is cleared, just an example). Also, I complained during one of the past PPVs that every single match had interference that led to the finish, and its like TK heard that criticism as on this PPV almost every match was clean from that. I don't think outside interference is automatically bad but it can be overdone, so having so many clean wins for the heels was a nice change of pace. Especially Lashley and Takeshita, I expected outside help to lead to the win so it almost caught me off-guard in a good way. So hat tip for that.

Indiana doing exactly what Indiana didn't need to do - look totally overmatched in every phase of the game. If they lost a close game, no biggie, but a game like this will lead to a lot of 'are they really a top 12 team??' discussion.

If Mina gives Mariah a gift and the box is human sized I'm going to really roll my eyes, but that would be a very wrestling thing to do. There will definitely be some fighting at the celebration, just unsure if Mina will turn on her or Toni will crash it.

I think they are just trying to avoid his contract escalators. Most he couldn't hit but two of them are passer rating and completion percentage. Or they are tanking. Definitely pretty sure they aren't playing the best QB but what can ya do, winning isn't the priority at the moment.

Very slightly on topic but when looking at stats/Hall of Fame consideration, etc. it feels pretty unfair for players pre-1994 when there was no wildcard. How many good to great players could have had that memorable playoff run or big World Series win if there was more opportunities to get there. I almost feel like post-season accolades should be graded on a curve, current players just have so many more opportunities to impress in October now than they used to. The 1993 Giants won 103 games and missed the playoffs! Its nutty looking at it with 2024 eyes.

Normally I'd say that a lot of untrue stories are told and passed around as true, but considering its the Jets I'll allow it. But its a very contradictory story as some reported that Salah was fired because Rodgers didn't like him, which wouldn't make any sense if the week before Woody wanted to bench Rodgers so clearly he wouldn't care what Rodgers thought. But the important thing is the Jets are a mess regardless.
-
I think that would make Aaron Rodgers the highest ranking Jet.

To think most major websites had the Bills at 9-8 or 10-7 this year. Shoulda fired McDermott, they'd be undefeated. Always nice going into a bye with a win, although some tough games after it. I still assume KC will be the #1 seed but I'll never complain about the Bills beating them. With the division basically wrapped up I hope they don't let off the gas too much, although it will give them a chance to not play injured players and ease Milano back into things without rushing people back.

Pickens is the worst toe tapper in the history of the NFL, its like he goes out of his way to not get two feet down.

The NCAA script writers working overtime to get Colorado into the playoffs. BYU losing today helped.

Well if they don't have them all locked in together in silly little cages at the top of the ramp then it would definitely lead us to believe they have some shenanigans planned. But with their past setup for these it will be hard to do any pre-match surprises, it would have to wait until afterwards. I could see a scenario where Seth and Bronson never make it into the match together and just brawl around so Seth never helps Roman. But if Seth and Roman do a double powerbomb and then hug I am going to riot. -

I love WarGames-style matches even though they are rarely great now so I'll be watching, but I really wish they'd kept it 4 v 4. I get they are adding in other storylines to enhance those as well but from a story standpoint it wouldn't make much sense for anyone else to join Roman's team to get involved in this mess after the terror he was for 3+ years. Yes, its common for former enemies to team once one of them turns face/heel but it just feels too soon, a little longer "no one wants to be friends with Roman after what he did" would have just been a nice change of pace from what wrestling normally does. -
I'm somewhat sure Paul could have ended it in the 3rd when Tyson was reeling and backed off. It was a real fight, I believe they were both trying but I don't think Paul was going for the knockout, so somewhere between a regular pro fight and an exhibition. Or Paul was just overly cautious so he wasn't knocked out by a 58 year old.

Wonder if it matters how people are watching it, I'm just using netflix via my web browser and its been clear for the last hour or so. This was drug out so long, happy we are only five or so minutes away, I'm ready to go to bed.
