  1. Apparently a bunch of '88 AWA just dropped. It has been noted by others before, but Mr Magnificent Kevin Kelly had quite the build in '88. He must have gone off the juice by '92, otherwise Nailz should have had his prison gear torn off during all of his matches in WWF. Was this guy "Billy Jack Strong" same as Steve Strong/DiSalvo? Also, in '88, they still had Midnight Rockers for a little bit, Nasty Boys still there, Bob Orton, Adrian Adonis and Tom Zenk for a spell, along with Curt Hennig and Larry Zbysko. That's not too shabby! Kevin Kelly vs Curt Hennig? Ok, we never got Nailz vs Mr Perfect, but this is intriguing and absolutely different match than that one would have been! LOL at there being a pretty badass looking "Samoan Joe" battling Jerry Lawler on this one episode! And now that MF'r is fighting Wahoo McDaniel! Are you kidding me? Now Midnight Rockers pinned Samoan Joe a lot! This is something else.
  2. Somebody posts as exactly that on Wrestling Classics, or at least they still did a while back. I wonder if that is just a fan of the said band, or an actual member? Or someone who just came up with the same joke on their own?
  3. And lose to Jeff Hardy, who in turn was squashed twice in one week by Jinder Mahal about a month(ish?) ago, at that! I remember how that caused some discussion. Hey, I ended up liking MitB PPV quite a bit and was happy to read Nikki successfully cashed in the briefcase, but this is weak. Not so much for RAW, because c'mon, but this joyfully and quite on purpose pisses on, what, a year of NXT's booking? You'd think that the person who was constantly trying to split up Miro and CJ behind the scenes no longer worked for the company (with all the layoffs) but maybe they do, and have now found the next target? I mean that would suck, but at least it would serve a clandestine, sinister purpose, this seems to serve none at all. Unless, like it was mentioned, Jeff Hardy gets a NXT run out of this?
  4. I remember seeing this the first time and thinking "Bret just took a backdrop on the concrete! Why is he not more hurt than that? I guess it must be because the match hasn't even started and he has all his energy left." The match ended up being fantastic and I started liking LaFitte way more afterwards.
  5. That's right! They did team up! One would have to assume that Slick used all his mojo to convince Hercules to grit his teeth and do it, since they had such a big advantage in the finale. Of course, they still ended up losing. Of course, this had nothing to do with their plans, but the ending of the match would have been cooler if Dibiase was the last guy pinned, not Hercules, and Herc was the one taking the "fuck this" count out elimination instead of Rick Martel.
  6. Yeah, I didn't say I approved of the situation, but this might chance the eventual outcome... If the charges dropped equals nothing happened, then pretty much all bets are off, right? Hope Ricochet wins, though
  7. All of this weeks matches were pretty badass! Next week, will Dragunov win the title? WTF else can happen if not that? ...oh. Apparently that. Well, fuck! That fucking sucks. Shouldn't have asked.
  8. Wasn't Riddle just declared innocent of everything ever, just like Cosby was, so he could still somehow be back in the race, like it or not?
  9. Not bad at all! But wouldn't it be so much better with more Roman Reigns? Don't ya think?
  10. This is really hard to argue with! When I first saw the hype for WMIX I was losing my shit and then some!
  11. Oh, my boring answer would just have been 47. Hitch-hiker's reference...
  12. Not "anywhere" , but it has to have been one "somewhere" , right? Papa Shango vs Big Daddy V on the other hand...
  13. The fate of the great Arthur Ashe bums me the F out. In my previous life, I did a short paper on his life and getting HIV on a goddamned transfusion is so terrible I hardly have words. Maybe his fate saved a bunch of lives in the future, when people realized that was the absolute least fun way to get AIDS and every blood donation started to get tested. Still, an absolute tragedy, either way!
  14. I don't see much success coming her (Aliah's) way, but she has worked hard, waited basically her best years and seen others pass her by. I hope she gets good money out of it and will not be released for many years to come. She deserves something for all this effort.
  15. I'm watching Mid-South (81-82) and am a bit confused, as Orndorff's other arm looks relatively skinny even before the nerve injury (which bothered him during the Hogan feud, as the story goes) and even before he gained a bunch of mass with (more) steroids. Did the nerve damage actually happen (or start happening) during his football career or something? Now Jim Ross joined this shit! That is something!... also, Killer Karl Kox being a face is also a whole lot of something.
  16. Yeah, that's actually true, but as it has been pointed out Herc ended up being sold around like a used car, so two times was actually a low estimate. The Andre thing was one of the few actually successful business deals Heenan ended up making.
  17. The dude had no luck at all! And once he was on his own, after 6 months, his career started going even further downhill, until Power & Glory happened and wait for it, Slickster was back in his life! Stockholm Syndrome, much? This reminds me of the pretty nice story nuance, as during the very beginning of the aborted Rude vs Bossman feud, Bossman handcuffed Heenan into the ringside barricade. Rude eventually came to his aid but was unable to break the chain. Now before or after this happened, Power and Glory with Slick walked to the ring and Heenan pleaded for them to help him. They did stop and Herc contemplated helping him and Slick was like "you could probably break that, right?", but they ended up just walking past him to their match. So all was definitely not forgiven, nor forgotten on Herc's part. I though that was pretty neat.
  18. "That's not how you do it!" As if there was one right way to build a TV (or any) main event (or angle). Priceless and clueless at the same time! Holy shit!
  19. Yeah, Slick sold Herc's contract to Heenan making Hercules the only guy in WWF history to be sold TWICE and on the latter time into slavery.
  20. That was all of one six-man tag match, but Heenan did indeed introduce him as the third Islander. And this was cut short pretty quickly, as Tama left WWF and Haku became a King, not necessarily in that order.
  21. Yeah, when you get to a real life retirement age and pass that by a good few years, you are definitely ahead of the pack, as sad as that may be.
