  1. 4 workouts this week with 2 upper body days that were not particularly heavy, just easing back into things. Then 2 leg days (squat machine and Trapbar, respectively). The things worth mentioning were the sets of 5x344 (with 3 pairs of resistance bands) stopping at the very bottom at each rep, then 5x438 that went relatively deep and 5x482 that felt like it was crushing me, but I got through it and the reps were below safety bar, so I'm fine with that. I did calf raises with each of the weights plus one set with 388.

The Trapbar day was apparently too soon after the squats, but I was able to do a few things I haven't done before. I noticed that the lower half of the wooden blocks that I use, also fits in the middle of the Trapbar so I have some new deficits to work with.

I used the combo of 3 blocks on top of each other, foregoing the padded one, so this was the highest deficit I have ever lifted from. I did a single with 254 to try it out and then one with 397,5. Then 2 of the smaller blocks (that are still higher combined than the previous high deficit) for a single with 503. After that I failed every attempt at deficit lifting 554, until finally getting it up from the floor level. After that I was finally able to do 666 off the actual half blocks, not full blocks with bunch of stuff beneath my feet. Then I failed 774 with everything until I got 2 reps off the full blocks.

After that I felt like it was no use to continue and called it a week.

  2. Kenny vs Gabe Kidd, holy shit! I was not expecting that! Wow! Wardogs on the outside were swearing up a storm throughout the match!

Takeshita vs Ishii in a Rampage main event but for two belts was very good as expected, but Ishii with a top rope rana?!? Fuck yeah! He was really selling the loss too, after the match!

That guy who beat David Finley for the Global title vs Jack Perry was definitely decent enough!

Young Bucks win! I was wondering if Cobb and Bucks could carry the rest of those sacks of shit and the answer was resounding yes, as this was all action.

Shota vs Claudio was a war and a huge win for Shota. I wonder if he will actually get Moxley one day?

I'm missing all of this week's shows because of the length of these two shows, but I brought it on myself, so definitely not complaining!

  3. Ok, let's see: I like David Finley. Both of his matches rocked.

Takeshita had hell of a showing.

ZSJ vs Shota went on and on. I'm not sure sure if that was necessary, but I guess there was a good reason.

Tanahashi vs EVIL was filled with shenanigans but I was OK with the idea of it. The 5 minute exhibition with Shibata sure was a choice, but at least we got to see Tanahashi's chest-sized bruise after the match. I guess Shibata still isn't allowed to have proper matches in New Japan?

How does Mina look even better in Japan than he does in AEW?

Yeah, so Athena gets pinned for the first time in two years, and it was not in ROH. Well, Willow pinned her the last time and that was not in ROH, either, so I guess it figures.

Sons of Texas with two successful title defenses in a relatively short time span, but Sammy went and cut his hair. Boo!

    Still ways more to go!

  4. In the opener, War Dogs were Connors and Driller Moloney. Any relation to Dan Moloney, the 19-year old rookie from NXT UK? Has a similar face, but everything else has changed quite a bit, but it has been quite a few years since then. Is that the same guy, or is the last name just a coincidence?

He's on the small side, but at the same time, Jerry Lynn in the early 90s was very small compared what he looked like seven or eight years later from when he first became noticed. He couldn't have been that much bigger than Chad Austin and got a few cracks at working some of the syndicated shows (granted, probably off the strength of what he did in Global).

I think it probably depended on who was helping to book those guys so the criteria probably changed especially post Chuck Austin lawsuit. The guys like Reno Riggins, John Paul, Horowitz, and Scott Taylor looked to be better workers than a lot of the guys they were being squashed by. Reno Riggins had a great little 4 or 5 minute TV match with 1-2-3 Kid on Superstars and a believe a shorter match on another show and never really got a look beyond that.

It's crazy to think that WWF was employing guys who were stinking out the joint in 1-3 minute squash matches that were taped weeks in advance were you could edit it into something halfway decent, but you're somehow expecting them to have a credible match when a live PPV rolls around.

I remember that Riggins vs Kid match, first seeing it during a house party my class was having in high school in '93. The family of the host had cable or satellite so I could see a channel that actually showed wrestling at the time. Then the show was cut short when a class mate threw up on the floor. Good times.

Billy Gunn too, although in that case I think it was just because he couldn't come up with anything else nice to say. But yes, it was a running joke in my friend group that every single black wrestler in WWE had great natural athleticism according to JR.

I think it comes down to who has the highest leap frog and standing dropkick, but I'm not sure if the rules have changed after all these years?

  7. Only now getting to Final Battle 2024! Dark Order vs GYV on Zero Hour? That's pretty high level tag match for a pre-show, but it's not like I'm going to complain!

Main Event Harley Cameron vs Hanako also on pre-show? Now I may be offended!

Kingdom vs Infantry in a role reversal match from the last time! Ok, so when the hell did Trish Adora get HOT?!? She's been talented all along, but this look F'n WORKS!

More tag teams with GoA and LeeJ! I think James Drake of GYV has very similar physique and size as me, but obviously I'd love to say Bishop Kaun does! Yeah, probably not. Good action here, as well! Holy Double Turn, Batman!

The opener proper was entertaining stuff, Danhausen is back!

Yeah, the new Dynamite Kid is definitely staying away from steroids! Good for him! Who's Shibata's dad, by the way?

Sensational Karen Jarrett?!? Now there's a fantastic homage, if there ever was one! Double J is here! Yes! Was it said (not here but before) that QT won (or placed) in a bodybuilding competition a month or so ago? He's gotten into a wonderful shape, but what the hell kinda competition was that? Very entertaining match, though! But it took 2 Lethal Injections to beat QT? The fuck outta here!

A Red Velvet heel turn?!? OK, that one I did NOT see coming! This was getting really good by the end, Leyla's wardrobe troubles notwithstanding. She pulled up her pants like 5 times early in the match! I guess getting the wrench is poetic justice from 2-3 years ago? Statlander says Hi!

Holy motherfucking shit! It's Nigel!!! WTF am I watching! Oh shit! This is wonderful! Man, that was worth the price of the PPV alone!

The double bullrope match was way less bloody than I thought it would be (zero?!?), but still good action! At the risk of annoying @The Natural, why in the hell would you want to punch that beautiful face of Sammy Guevara?!? Look at that hair, at the very least! The child of Sammy and Tay must be at Ryan Reynolds-Blake Lively progeny-level beautiful! That's insane that it happened twice! Or with two beautiful enough couples!

Absolutely bat shit stuff in the Survival of the Fittest! How do you get 8 (or 9 ) pins against Cage?!? Blake Christian looks like how my youngest godchild will look like when he grows up, it's uncanny! Fuck everything, I like the shit out of Brian Cage! I do not give a shit if that's not ok! Holy shit! Kommander actually won something! Ok, I guess I am totally fine with that!

Time for the double main event! Full disclosure, it's Friday, I still have days off until next Tuesday and I'm having drinks! Matt Cardona!!! You are a good guy now? I guess PCO pushing your shit in totally changed you? Well, against this version of Jericho, I guess even that douchebag would be the face? This is some great heeling by Jericho!

Honestly it all worked out in the end as Gaylord would eventually end up finding his true calling in life:

    Robbing banks.

Wait a minute, once Sasha inevitably returns to WWE, they can create her troubled younger sister Robin Banks to team up and eventually feud with!

As for Jeff Gaylord, eventual legal trouble aside, I have heard this very question before and at the time I seem to recall one of the reasons being that even by WWF's standards at the time, he wasn't good enough in the ring. With the caveat that I may be misremembering and confusing it with the reason why The Spellbinder never really got a shot.

...or like @Cobra Commander said, it was because he was a damned moron, not sure now.

Mongolian Mauler scared the shit out of me as a kid in the Apter mags

Coincidentally, the same magazine that had the piece on Sweet Daddy Siki, also featured Mongolian Mauler (who was also pictured with Kevin Sullivan and Kamala in one photo). He looked very different and scary, indeed!

It sounds like odds are they'll be on Max once they figure out how to do it reliably, and they'll be discounted.  Old PPVs are being rolled out over time (all of 2019 posted yesterday).

(Distance from Russo) X (distance from TNA) X (amount of time passed)

Great point.  It's crazy how Jarrett went from fans chanting "drop the belt" at him in TNA to fans wanting him to win a world title in 2025.

    Not me, though.

    r/theydidthemath @Technico Support

Yeah, I really don't think Jarrett will actually WIN the title, but even getting people to cheer instead of booing the announcement is quite the accomplishment in and of itself.

Be that as it may, winning the Owen (as was said before) and challenging at All Out instead of All In would be totally acceptable, for example!

I like the fact that there are so many people wanting to be the World Champion. The only problem with that is that it usually just leads to a fucking multi-person title match, instead of separate feuds with the contenders, one of whom gets to challenge first, while others are vying for the next shot by trying to beat each other!

Never been happier to be in a deload.

I've been in deload for more than a week now with only minimal maintenance work here and there. It feels good! Yesterday evening, I was at 208lbs, so I decided to measure some of my strategic places.

Arms haven't really grown, but are still as big as they have ever been. My left arm is now at 42,2 cm flexed, not pumped and the dominant right arm is at 41,5 cm, funnily enough. Glutes and thighs have have grown by several or a couple of cm, respectively. Chest was at 120 cm, so bigger than ever, but that's probably more about my lats actually growing than anything to do with my pecs.

Forearms and calves haven't grown but haven't shrunk, either. I don't remember what my foreams used to be, but probably about the same. Calves are about 0,5-1,2 cm smaller than my arms so I should try to get a little bit more size into them for the "optimal" symmetry. Arms to calves-ratio or whatever the fuck it is? Waist is out of control, obviously, but still a few cm under 100 cm, so phew!

I could really use a good arm pump workout now in order to see if I can get both arms above 45 cm pumped and flexed?

  12. Wonderful show! Great opener! Strong statement win by Hangman.

Ricochet apparently took the TP incident personally! Good on him, I guess?

How much has Julia Hart levelled up in order to beat Hayter? Well, enough for her black mist to become transparent, apparently? That makes it much easier to disguise!

How well has the rehabilitation of Jeff Jarrett's character gone for people to cheer when he said he wanted to be AEW World Heavyweight Champion? Would you have believed that when he first showed up?

So Big Bill's face is stupid? Adam, it's your own fucking face, from mid 90's!

Ok, so Adam's name change is dumb, but once he teams up with Christian again, they will be know as Cope Cage (as in that pathetic apparatus the Russians tried to fortify their ancient tanks with against Ukraine drones) so at least there is that!

As far as the main event goes: Was that SO hard? This is how you send the crowd home happy!

2 hour long WWE Vault video of the Undertaker from 1992 to 1994 if anybody wants a look into Giant Gonzalez

This could be a chance for someone who is definitely not me to watch SummerSlam'93 RIP Match and compare it to the pre (or post) SummerSlam'06 SmackDown No DQ match against The Great Khali and see how those two matches measure up against one another!
