  1. I don't always agree with your posts, but I find this one to be pretty spot on. It's hard to pile on, but not being decisive in the moment and kind of playing both sides seems to have watered everything down. Fan apathy could be a reason for the slumping ticket sales. I think an Edge & Christian program is a great idea in a strategy to try and draw an audience back in. But it can't be the only aspect to that strategy. Someone's gotta get hot. Something exciting has got to start happening. There's a real lack of urgency in a lot of the booking. I think we all thought Swerve & Keith Lee's breakup was on a path to a blowoff but it just never came. And that's starting to happen a little too often. Long term booking only works if you get to the final chapter and it feels satisfying. Due a little to booking, a LOT to injuries, and mostly just timing not lining up right there hasn't been much of a satisfying final chapter to any main story in awhile.
  2. Am I the only one that would prefer a proper reboot? I could be, but the course they are taking just feels messy. Just keeping some stars in the same roles and replacing others. It's way cleaner to break off from the failure the DCEU was. I know there are some stars that are great in their roles. But it's just going to be too cluttered for the general audience I think. There's a certain stench of failure on the DCEU brand. Starting over and building up from scratch makes a lot more sense than trying to hand waive away why some actors are returning and others aren't. Just rip the band-aid off and dump it all.
  3. I just caught The Terrifier last night for the first time. I liked it a lot. I didn't know anything about it other than a bunch of people I know have said it's got some gruesome kills. And it really does. You can tell it was a low budget with some of the effects but very solid old school slasher movie. Will have to check out the sequel soon. The sawing the woman scene was insanity.
  4. Man how lucky are the 49ers as a franchise? They give up so much capital for an epic draft bust in Trey Lance, but somehow get totally redeemed with the absolute last pick of a draft in Purdy. He's looked really really solid this year, especially coming off of a Tommy Johns surgery. If they stay healthy I don't know who can beat them.
  5. Hasn't Cody been on Smackdown the last 2 or 3 weeks? As if they would go through the trouble of finding a reason to get him there when they want him there.
  6. I think Jones is going to be out for the year. He had a bad neck injury two years ago that kept him out like 7 games. He got whip lashed pretty bad on the sack that took him out. I can see it being season ending. Why would you put him back behind that line anyways? Just the worst possible start to the season for The Giants. If my math is right just between Monday & today Jones got sacked 19 times. That doesn't even count all the hits he took scrambling for his life. It's mind boggling how the offense line is literally league worst EVER SINGLE YEAR.
  7. I disagree with your thoughts on this one, but respect that you took the time to back up your thoughts with a well written post. So no beefs lol. I'll say this, the crazy amount of views on his debut video did not equate to higher viewership this week. I feel like this coming week his debut match is also going to get trounced by NXT. I know WWE are loading up NXT with big names, but there's been building momentum with NXT viewership for awhile now. I'm 50/50 on if Dynamite would have even been able to beat them with just a regular NXT episode. I think everyone that posts in this part of the forum regularly just wants AEW to be doing well. We all have different ideas on what would help make that happen. So does TK. And I can't fault taking a swing with the biggest name he could get to jump. There's no one above Edge on the verge of wanting to switch sides right now. So I don't have much of a problem with it. Maybe as the stories get told with Edge the viewership can grow. Only time will ell.
  8. No logic to it? Darby forgave AR Fox instantly for breaking into Nick's home and slicing him up with glass. Didn't even need an apology. Darby just became bffs with Fox again with no resistance. That turn was super logical. Because I'd be like fuck that guy too. The mom doesn't have to turn just because Nick Wayne did. If anything it can underscore how much of a dick he is because his mom is begging him not to go against his father's wishes.
  9. The WWE way which I assume has been adapted by AEW is to script out the PIP spots. You get told by the agent that you have one and how soon into the match, and you and the agent lock in what the commercial go to spot is. The ref will communicate when it's time and they you go to it. That way the director and production can be clued in on it as well.
  10. After Dynamite tonight seems like Skye Blue will be the spooky substitute. She took the mist last week and now this week she's not all happy go lucky and had the big black eye makeup. Now do Abadon to Dark Order and Julia Hart to The Righteous when she returns. Spoky goth cult women triple threat.
  11. I would need the qualifiers on this to make any sense of it. "Less time to throw" would read like Jones' time would be artificially inflated by all the time he spends dodging and escaping the pocket. Is it really 7 seconds to throw if he's spending 4 of it rolling to his left scrambling to extend the play while being hunted down? Numbers don't lie, but also yes they do.
  12. Snaps the ball at 4 seconds. Has a free runner coming for him at 7 seconds. That does show a wide open crosser he should have been able to find and he doesn't even move his eyes from that first read. So it does illustrate what you're saying. And I agree with you. That's an egregious lack of finding your open receiver. But it still demonstrate my point too, he had 3 seconds. And that's more time than he's used to. I think he's seeing ghosts and knows he doesn't have the time to progress through reads. It's first read, mayyybeeeee second read, then take off or get your head knocked off behind that line.
  13. Do no like this L gimmick thing, please revert to the lovable canine I always pictured you as
  14. I'm not saying he's an all time great or even good. I'm saying the takes that cast him as trash, like these, don't account for having a terrible line his whole time in the NFL and not a single top tier or even mid tier receiver his whole time in the NFL. Put Ryan Tannahil behind that line with those receivers I think the results are mostly the same. But Baker Mayfield in this situation you get mostly the same results. Dare I say put Matthew Stafford in that situation I think he performs worse than Jones because at least Jones is mobile. Can any NFL QB average more than one TD a game with under 2 seconds per play to throw? Lots of shots at him being a first read only guy. Explain to me how there's time for him to get to another read. He was sacked 12 times last night. It was like an NFL D line against middle school kids playing Red Rover, there was zero resistance. He's average at best but it's situational that he's as bad as he is. You drop him into The Rams or The Bucs or New Orleans or Tennessee he's perfectly acceptable as a mid tier starter in the league. The roster building part of this rebuild has not been good to him and he's just not good enough to put a team on his shoulders like Maholmes. But he's not as bad as his reputation and numbers show.
  15. Think that's a bit unfair. He might be solid he might suck, hard to evaluate fairly with that O line play. Last year his numbers were average in passing and way above average in rushing. But he's literally never had a single year behind a competent O line. He's clearly not a guy that can transcend that situation. But lots of good QBs have looked bad when being surrounded by poor line play.
  16. Making the playoffs last year just makes it hurt that much more this year when they are back to a bottom of the league team. Jones is gonna get dragged by sports media for this, but I'm not sure how anyone is expected to play at a competent level with that O-line play. It's 2 seconds max before he has 3+ rushers in his face. That pick six was 1000% his fault. Getting sacked 12 times and not being able to complete anything further than 5 yards isn't. I knew after the first play of the game when I saw their starting center limping already they were about to get rolled. Sure enough he came out and a bad O-line got even worse. Defense kept them in it longer than they deserved to be. Next up are... Miami then Buffalo. Fucking christ man.
  17. It's been 24 hours and the video has 20 million views across all platforms. He's already getting more eyes on AEW than anyone not named CM Punk ever has. He's a 20 year main eventer who has never left the WWE eco-system. I didn't like a lot of his latest WWE run ether. But there are so many fresh & interesting matches for him in AEW. Christian is just as old and he's consistently the most entertaining personality in the company. Sting is like 62 and he too is also one of the most entertaining parts of the shows he's on. All these "tHiS iS jUsT lIkE TnA" takes are wild. Again this is a 1B signing. He's one tier under the Cena/Lesnar/Reigns level. He's in that Orton/Triple H/Mick Foley level. 20 years of main events. How many WrestleMania main events? How many world title runs? He adds a ton of value. Especially to the segment that find AEW to be second rate because they grew up only knowing WWE. At least SOME of them will check out AEW once or twice because of him. And the hope would be that you convert a percentage of them to full time watchers. I totally get if you don't enjoy him and don't want him to be on the shows because you don't like them. But to contort that opinion into a fact / shit talking in the name of that "fact" is what I find so frustrating about your post. Tony took a business risk. Not because he's a star fucker or a mark. But because he's trying to find ways to grow the audience. If that doesn't line up with your personal tastes that doesn't make it a bad business move. It just makes a move you don't like. Those are not the same things.
  18. A big thank you to everyone in sports media for getting on the same page and calling that QB sneak gimmick the Brotherly Shove instead of Tush Push.
  19. 2 women's matches. I know the weird mixed 8 person tag is real odd, but you can't discount that match when it gets 4 women on the card. 14 matches is too many matches. It's the opposite of less is more booking. It sucks having to go out as the 14th match and trying to keep a tired audience engaged. It's hard to complain you're being given too much, especially when AEW PPVs always deliver so much quality. But I'd much prefer the card cut down to like 10. 2 pre show, 8 main show. Even that is a lot. But it strikes a better balance than doing 2.5 weeks of Dynamite in one night.
  20. Reality is the right term. I get that the talking points all push ROH is supposed to be an equal and separate sister promotion, but when you compare the 10k-ish who have the ability to see ROH (legally) vs the one million-ish (roughly) that might tune into AEW on a given week... If something is clicking and enjoyable in ROH and you think you can draw money with it, then by definition it needs to be on AEW to do so.
  21. I am pretty pro AEW and down on WWE a lot of the time. And even I find this to be over analyzing of nothing. She put over her new employer with enthusiasm. That's not a knock on AEW. It's just ass kissing. It's working the office. She didn't say fuck AEW and their one women's match a show rule. She didn't say I'm so happy to be done training with Dustin & Danielson so I can learn from the real greats like Miz & Omos. Reading too much into nothing here. Jades going to do really well in WWE. They lean on character & story whereas AEW leans on match quality and wrestling as art. Story & character is where she excels and she is going to be a big star make a lot of money.
  22. Pretty close to already being there. Counting AEW & ROH together the 2023 has 10 PPVs. Since May there's been one a month. Jan & April were only months without one this year. -Revolution was in Feb -Supercard of Honor was March -Double or Nothing was in May -Forbidden Door was in June -Death Before Dishonor was in July -All In was in Aug -All Out was in Sep -WrestleDream is in Oct -Full gear is in Nov -Final Battle is in Dec
  23. The TK voice over went HARD on this being the end of one era & the start of a new one in AEW. Literally can't think of a single thing that fits other than this is the last PPV / Max deal get's announced here. Let me cue up the 'Im ready to be hurt again' gif real quick here
  24. Stuck in a program with Omos / holding his hand & leading him through matches
  25. We probably just aren't going to agree totally on this. In no way was AEW formed as a result of a need for wrestler safety. AEW even beat their chest as being the alternative to WWE's safety practices. Openly allowing blading, chair headshots (at first) and way fewer restrictions set down by management and agents about match content / move restrictions. I'm not even coming from a macho stand point saying oh like WWE shouldn't have ended that Danielson vs Orton match. I understood Danielson's frustration, but I back WWE stopping that one... and a lot of the other safety precautions put in place. Just like the NFL safety precautions are needed but you have to put a hierarchy in place to make the restrictions work. Yo can't be out here putting the decisions on that stuff in any of the wrestler's hands. Because they are always going to err on the side of pushing through. Just like you couldn't have a system in place where team mates on the field are the ones with the agency to pull other players in NFL games. You can say framing it as 'defying Mox' is wild, but it's accurate. Look no further than what happened to people defying Punk. The damn head of talent relations got sent home because of Punk. In no way am I saying Mox is like Punk at all. But I am saying it's something that happens all the time in wrestling and it has to be a consideration for someone in that situation. Fenix isn't gonna take that chance. And it shouldn't be on him to do so.
