Trying to keep up. Something about pineapple pizza and the media? -
Luckily, no headache. I didn’t drink as much as I was thinking I would. Ended up boogieing down pretty hard so I’m super beat up! Lol Lil Octopus was sleeping over with his Uncle and cousins. So when we picked him up he was excited so we did a lot of wrestling moves and goofing around. Once he napped I decided to start the cage match, but I was so tired I had to fall asleep. Got what seemed like a good chunk in but was actually only a little bit of time. In that time I saw scissors and nunchucks. This match is going to rule! Just a little bit ago, I finished it. Bull Nakano vs Aja Kong - gifted by @Casey Hot fuck this ruled! Maybe in my top ten/ 25!!!! Before the match in the promo they need to be held apart. Then coming out Aja jumps Bull with scissors. I’m so excited because I’ve seen scissors clips and now I feel this will be the match. Always wanted to check this out. there is something real and legitimate to these two that I love. I call it struggle and Casey when referencing CM Punk called it feeling real. I just love seeing them stumbling before falling after stiff strikes. Perfectly imperfect landings. Aja slipping downward and folding between the ropes and the cage. Bull Nakano exhaustedly reacting to being brutalized by a sea of spinning backfists. I don’t know the full story outside of random YouTube videos but I can tell they hate each other at this time. I love when the scissors are used to equalize the arm of Aja. Just disgusting and I love it. It a survival and taking advantage when you can brawl and nbrutal back and forth but such a focus on the arm at various points is genius. I love the team aspect. I was wondering what was going on at first but it quickly became apparent that it was faction members desperately trying to help and failing to claw their way in when their leader was being cut the fuck up. The best use of this element of a cage match I’ve ever seen. Just adds to the wildness of the action. Chains, metal cubes, scissors, kendo stick things, etc all being strategically thrown in. Then the gang warfare rages on the outside, but never really taking away from the action. Adding to it when appropriate. Bull Nakano and Aja Kong pass my great worker test of do my eyes follow them at all times. Just so I can catch the little things they do. Every action mixed with their presence. I do the same with like Bockwinkel and Funk. Just special and I appreciate their aura. Good stuff! Ouch on the leg drop off the top. My tentacles hurt from dancing so that made me wince. Thanks, Casey!!!

I really like that the theme or various stories of Collision revolve around relationships with Punk. It can be tough to pull off, but when there is interconnected rivalries and dramas, it can lead to compelling television. Joe and Punk have a long history together where Joe was more dominant, but a recent roll up loss and he wants war while Punk is battling other fronts. Ricky Starks seemed to have turned a new leaf when CMFTR had his back, but arrogance and disrespect won out and now they have beef. Of course the Elite tension is felt, alongside a Young Bucks against FTR match coming up. CM Punk feels he never rightfully lost the title that MJF holds, and that will eventually be a big deal. All roads point to Punk.

My question is sheer for fun and “not a panic the world is falling apart thing.” Basically, who are great booking or storyline minds that are in theory available? It could be changed to if you were starting a wrestling company and wanted a creative team who would you reasonably be able to get. Etc.
-
Off and on, I enjoy Bruce’s podcast. He’ll sometimes talk about him, Pat Paterson, maybe Cornette and like Jerry Briscoe or whoever sitting outside of Vince’s pool and going over storylines. Out of available wrestling minds, who would be a good team to help with Tony’s booking? I think they can do that and still maintain the ethos of “no writers” and this is meant to be a fun thing and not a panic the world is falling apart thing.

Lol, the drinking is later. I’m on the couch while wife is getting ready

That cracked me up! For you I got maybe (up for internal debate, maybe I’ll make a post on this) the best match I’ve seen live. Mike Quackenbush vs Claudio Castagnoli I go back and do some digging to see if I can find myself and I finally did! Second pic I sent my friends I went with at the time. 19 year old David, pre-Octopus. Forum name on other forums was “Sledge.” at the time. Quackenbush was one of my favorites and I loved CHIKARA. Good nostalgia for me.

Beautifully said, @Casey! The legitimate feeling a struggle and an actual fight is generally what I love about wrestling. Punk fights that mold. I’m going to a wedding today, open bar so I’m looking to also have drinks in me when I write up yours. @The Natural, I’ll hit you up with a match tonight or tomorrow

Recommends for moments in the match/ psychology or recommendations as a match to watch to get you in the mood for trio violence or recommendations for a gimmick for the match? -
Personally, I do feel it is authentic corniness. I totally get why people would eyeroll it. Poor guy was pretty open about his mental health issues after his wife had a miscarriage. Even without the biases I have adding him to my Will Always Like Club, I likely can say I don’t find him fake, at least. I’m having trouble finding my words, so here’s an alignment chart I made from Corny to Serious and Authentic to Disingenuous. (No disses, I like everyone other than Bubba. I just couldn’t find a good example for that slot that I liked)

Bull Nakano? More like Bull NakaYES! Thanks, @Casey! I’m thinking CM Punk for you: Giving you a choice between Chris Hero and Raven as opponents (the Hero one is an hour, so Raven is the shorter option). Both classic matches, I can find something else if you’ve seen these already. If you’re not feeling Punky: at exactly 19 minutes you get Demolition vs Andre & Haku, which aired January 1st, 1990 which fits your nothing before the 90’s criteria.

Ok, I’m gonna put my leg here, he bends his knee this way, wait for the signal, then you come in and bend your back that way, not too far, he’ll straighten his left arm, I’ll grab that, all three of us jump up, you move your other leg over here, we land, I go this way, he looks that way, we jump again, then profit.

MJF and Cole should come out together to “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”
-
I can’t wait for Jericho vs LuFisto
-
Yes, free or Peacock for me as well. This go around I’m thinking less on filling my blind spots and more other people sharing the matches their passionate about.

AR Fox was an absolute delight on Talk is Jericho. Highly recommend.

Aiming to go to a movie theater for them. Did that with Forbidden Door and really enjoyed it. Saved a lot of money too.

She is a former CZW Ironman Champion, Max —- Love you too, @Shartnado!

Everyone is friends!

I take no sides. I hope no fights happen and everyone is friends. I also hope we get Quake by the Lake 2! Octy needs more AEW.

Brawl Out 2: Ladies Night

It’s off of one-event and a very awkward backstage experience. Worth a read if you get into the behind the scenes drama but quite a lot to scroll through. To quick sum it up: - QT and LuFisto bump into each other and QT asks if she’d be interested in coaching. - she travels out to whatever state the episode is being shot. A lot of medical tests were asked but waived due to short notice. (Blood, COVID, etc) - Backstage seems disorganized. She was hoping to talk to Tony but he’s said to be busy and she never does - Bunny keeps asking her “what are you doing here?” -Claims to be mean mugged by Ruby, Bunny, and Sky Blue. Sky Blue seemed quiet and being told what to do which was a weird thing to include. - locker room Factions shit talking and gossiping about each other. - Previous awkward moment with Ruby a few years ago, I guess. Maybe they hurt each other or something? Idk - she thought Ruby talked to Dustin behind her back and he joined in on the mean mugging. Cold and awkward to her. Said all French Canadians were assholes and then Dustin teased Evil Uno or something. - Jade seemed cool. Mentioned Jade working out with Danielson. - Unnamed worker told her it was always confusing and they were told last minute what the Gameplan is. - Thunder Rosa was chilling by herself - claims Bunny or Ruby (I forget which) told her to do certain things in the match that made her look bad. Dustin then said she was bad. - she said she asked multiple people about her match and was given a “I’ll watch later” or “it wasn’t too bad” type answers. - she makes a vague passive aggressive tweet recently. - a few workers she doesn’t want to reveal said it’s always like that. There was even a meeting about Thunder Rosa and something something Thunder’s defenders were sent home. - she clarifies that her tweet wasn’t about Brit. I read this all late last night when I was tuckered. So I recommend reading it yourself in case I’m unreliable. I’m m at work and casually irritated. So I’m on here talking about HOT GOSS!!!!
