  1. On the west coast a 4:30pm Wednesday show basically requires pto for most people. The Saturday shows will make it a lot easier to bring someone along with you to the show.
  2. On the flip side it’s easier to sell tickets on a Saturday night than Wednesday. And sports do big numbers on saturdays. They’re gonna need to not have the show turn into rampage and it looks like they have that mentality already.
  3. The upfronts are over. No word of streaming or a new tv deal. Just the collision announcement and they mentioned wrestling when discussing the variety of programming they have.
  4. Dang. The upfronts have started, so lots of questions should be answered very shortly.
  5. WBD has asked for no talent to be at the upfronts on Wednesday, to prevent anyone from potentially having to cross picket lines. No mention of the plans with aew but originally they planned to have all their big tv stars present, but now it will just be Zaslav and the ceo of Max.
  6. Also, I went to double or nothing 1. I had tickets for double or nothing 2 with my lapsed fan friend, but then covid happened. And I went to double or nothing 4. The fact that revolution just happened in my backyard complicates things. It would’ve taken a really special card with a huge dream match to make me go out again with the higher holiday travel prices. But attendance is down and I’m a big time fan and I’m not going this year. It says something. Yet the same thing happened after I traveled to SoCal the first two times new japan came here. By the third time I was like eh, I can wait for them to come to me. The novelty does wear off even though you’re guaranteed to get a high quality show. At this point I just need a stardom show. I will absolutely go to LA for that.
  7. I haven’t missed an aew ppv and I’m not ready to start, but I could easily live without this show. Looking forward to whatever the bcc vs elite violence is, and the tag match with briscoe as ref sounds like a lot of fun. The show is going to end up entertaining with a bunch of great wrestling on it so I’m not worried about that. But I couldn’t care less about anyone in the main event, and most of the other speculated matches aren’t doing much for me. Hopefully there’s a few fun surprise matches that aren’t obvious right now.
  8. At least you guys still have toys r us. I was walking thru the toy section at target the other day and I saw a small gi joe figure from super 7 in retro packaging for $25. I was like damn, is that supposed to be for little kids to play with? $25? It was like 4 inches tall.
  9. Before the merger, 150 per was the predicted increase for the next deal. But keep in mind now they are going to provide 40% more television per week, and if ppv is included as part of the deal, that has to make sense for them as well. They average around 145k per ppv, the high was 220k, and you have to be optimistic so I could see them wanting to be paid for 250k buys per ppv. If we are up to 6 now, times $50 times 250 divide by 2, it’s reasonable to think they are expecting $37.5m in compensation per year for giving up their ppvs to max. I could definitely see it being $200m per year.
  10. That’s what I’m assuming. After forbidden door everything will be on Max.
  11. That was such a fun show with that crowd. Iyo vs Bianca was awesome and the crowd brought it up to the level of greatness. I’m gonna rewatch that match again tomorrow. Bad bunny was great yet again, I liked everything else on the show. The reaction zelina got after the match was nice. Just a fun entertaining show.
  12. They did that for the first double or nothing. Tickets were sold in all 50 states and something like 8 countries. Anecdotally I’ve seen people from Germany and Italy on social media saying they have tickets, and others saying they’ve seen a bunch of people from countries other than those. Even with the diehard traveling fans I think a good amount of attendees are going to be casual fans at best, who are into the event itself. There’s been a couple posters here who are going and aren’t familiar with aew, and I’ve seen multiple people say that on social media as well. That’s why I think it could do good business in the final days of the show. People will want to go to a major event in a major city.
  13. I figured it would do 35-40k and was surprised at the announcement. And now here we are.
  14. I think it means if aew had run stadiums for the first shows in Chicago, Toronto, and LA they would have been huge. But it seems like it only works the first time you go to a major worldwide city. If wcw announced starrcade 98 at wembley that probably would’ve been a massive show as well. And they could’ve done sky dome with Bret. And if wwe had simply done a real ppv show at wembley years ago it would be like this as well.
  15. This is a huge loss. Rest in peace. I will miss him a lot.
  16. Bleacher report is owned by wbd but I feel they wouldn’t decide to make that the only way to order ppv. I feel it’s going to max for “free”.
  17. Oh dude like every other day was a new headline. Everyone involved with tnt is gone, cancel every hit show, cancel movies that are finished, lay off thousands of people, slash 3 billion, might not renew nba. It was brutal. I’m feeling optimistic now the industry needs this to be a good deal.
  18. I think that’s it, aew live ppv and back catalogue will move to max just like wwe network and peacock. They must have the new deal pretty much in place and the new show and potentially the ppv move is all part of the new deal to extend dynamite, they just have to announce it. Feels like good news compared to the doom and gloom when the merger happened.
  19. I’m really hoping for the best. Thank you for sharing.
  20. They made it super clear they wouldn’t be anywhere near New York that weekend but for everyone to have a great time.
  21. Gonna sell more on Friday. Even if it’s just 10-15k additional that’s a phenomenal start.
  22. Hard to get a grasp on sales because you can’t select from the map, you’re just offered in whatever section they give you. And I think at first only every other row was available in the open sections. But they’ve been opening up new sections all morning. It’s definitely not doing poorly.
  23. If there’s a time for aew ppv to move over to max, this would be it. We’ll see what happens.
