  1. Double J is living large off the Ain't I Great album. And all of those 250 dollar guitars he sold at the Shop TNA site, now down to 60. http://shoptna.com/jeff-jarrett-autographed-laser-engraved-guitar.aspx I'm wondering if it comes with the baby powder pre-installed.
  2. Yup. Me too. Hold on, let me get this straight. You take a character, add in his real life personality, give him a stated goal and people will actually want to see him on a wrestling show? Someone get this to the WWE writers room, STAT. I think that if WWE capitalized on this, they'd have to make sure that they make us care about Cody Rhodes as a character and not as an extension of Dusty. I'd argue that Rey and Chavo were both hurt when they just wanted to "honor" Eddie Guerrero. That blog post would be a great start, talk about Cody's individual reasoning, make us invest in Cody and it becomes about how Dusty motivated Cody to achieve his dream. With Rey and Chavo, it was like Eddie was someone messaging through them. I guess what I'm trying to say is, get me to care about seeing Cody Rhodes as WWE World Champion and not Dusty Rhodes's son as WWE World Champion. Once Dusty's passing becomes ancient history, we still need a reason to care about Cody. I hear you. My point is the motivation for this blog post could have been made apparent 5 years ago. How many times do people see stuff like this and it makes them infinitely more interesting that what they have going on now? It's not a matter of making someone a top star or world champion, just a matter of making people relate to them and therefore interesting.

  4. People often say Heenan is thier favorite manager, and while I can't argue the logic, Sherrie was so convincing as a dastardly heel who would interfere when the time is right and never afraid to take bumps. So perfect.
  5. I thought it was Daniel Bryan, Eddie Guerrero and Koko B Ware in an alternate universe,
  6. Donkey Kong County, actually. They can't afford international talent.
  7. Heavy D vs. Huey Lewis, with The Gang and The News banned from ringside? It was Heavy D and the Boyz. Unfortunately, this dream match will never come to pass. Heavy D passed away in 2011. If you really want to use the Gang, I'm sure Kool will be happy to do a run-in with them. Huey Lewis and PN News vs Kool and the One Man Gang? .......I'll show myself out.
  8. The first wrestling show I ever went to was in 1981ish at the Hamburg PA field house. Each guy did multiple matches, mostly squashes. One of the job guys was Curt Hennig. I distinctly remember him jobbing to Snuka and Swede Hanson. At least I think I do. Does anyone have any other information on this, like was he ever on WWF television at the time?
  9. So many things about the current potatoes instead of stuffing are intertwined and I feel like the announcers are just one more microcosm of the whole problem. Every wrestler in the company should be portrayed as a star and a tough SOB. An SOB that could easily kick your ass because you are not a professional wrestler. Instead, 3/4 of the roster or more is treated like goofballs, geeks and losers. The announcers should always be putting over this aspect instead of all the fucking nonsense that is really so bad. That guidebook is not surprising in hindsight.
  10. RE: Terrell and Kong. They say they aren't going anywhere but they have already taped until the end of July. They have one more taping that will take them to the end the glory days of Destination America. No house shows, nothing else. So whats the difference between "I am under contract" and "I will show up for one more set of tapings"? And good luck with that 5 show invasion angle. That'll put asses in seats.
  11. I don't think it did because I never really thought he just woke up that day and consciously decided he was going to murder his wife and kids. Something turned him into a monster. I am sure his end goal of doing massive roids was to earn a living for his family. When I think about this for any amount if time I realize how fucked up life is and I am not at all comfortable anymore with wrestlers taking stupid bumps.
  12. Big, street tough looking heels who just like hurting people. Nothing cool or trendy, just bad dudes. Maybe with a manager even.
  13. I was wondering if anyone remembers a match from WCW Saturday night. It was Arn Anderson against someone (Pillman?) where Arn just kept working the arm over and trying to get the other man to quit. He wouldn't quit so the ref had to stop it. It made Arn look like a total badass and I wish the E would do more things like this to get heels over. Arn was a scary motherfucker.
  14. I'll trump this fool thing. Several years ago my co-worker called me and said his brother was the truck driver for Smackdown. There was a show in Raleigh and he had tickets and wanted to know if I wanted to go. I was kind of busy and I reccomended another co-worker because he had some young kids into wrestling. This guy was a dick and because of personal feelings said no. My buddy went alone to the show, he has no interest at all in wrestling. When I asked him how it was the next day the story was something like this. He said met up early and he got to wander around the arena while they set up the ring and lighting and stage. Then they hung out and ate at the "commissary" (his words) and got to see all the wrestlers show up and greet each other with handshakes and bro hugs. Then he got to meet almost all of the wrestlers who he could only describe and I would name. Then he had great seats for the show and said it was cool meeting them and then seeing them in "character". WTF was I thinking. I am a fool. Top that.
  15. I am almost thinking this is some mad genius plan by DA. Put ROH an hour before TNA for lead in and audience build. Figure TNA might go berserk and create some sort of Wednesday night war between the two companies. The audience builds over time and at any time they could just wave a 100$ bill and an autographed picture of Vince McMahon and she would stay on after October or jettison them as planned. This has been some crazy shit this last week.
  16. Not to be lost in this whole conversation, (Rumors at one time) said that Paul Heyman was offered the book and his demands were total control and he would get rid of all the "old" guys, Hogan, Bischoff, Etc. Not long after, they end up in the same place anyway. Say what you want about Heyman but there is no way TNA would have just fizzled into the ground like it has.
  17. I think you are right and I think this is unfortunate. What if you took that money and paid it to guys like Ambrose and Danielson, then let those guys "book" the show with a modicum of oversight. Tell all of those up and comers it is their show to make, their fortunes to be had. This is something that could be different and stand out from WWE. It would undoubtedly be different and better then it is now. My personal opinion is even though Spike may have demanded it, Dixie has no vision and has always been star crossed.
  18. I would assume a big, fat paycheck and the ability to fight in UFC one more time. I hadn't heard he didn't want to fight and never assumed that to be the case because he re-upped with the WWE. I would think everybody would get a payday. A big buyrate for Dana, a big check for Ronda and as much "mainstream hype" that Vince could possibly get for Wrestlemania.
  19. Hypothetical trade-- Ronda Rousey in a Wrestlemania 32 match for Brock Lesnar in a UFC fight in 2015/2016. Everybody wins. Thoughts?
  20. "What is Jasper the chummy ghost doing in the Impact Zone?!?" Fixed. I always have and will continue to say that this company's biggest moment, most memorable moment, greatest accomplishment, make up any list you want is surviving. They are still in business. It is remarkable.
  21. All of her cats are just still really upset about Montreal. Actually this cat remembers Montreal. But it's over it. It's water under the bridge. The cat is not going to be bitter about Montreal.
  22. I respectfully disagree with most of your points. but when you said: is an argument against, don't you think?
