    Most likely NSFW

The best part is that was supposed to be the more tame line...

The original "pillow talk"-scene had Marla saying "I want to have your abortion". When this was objected to by Fox 2000 Pictures President of Production Laura Ziskin, David Fincher said he would change it on the proviso that the new line couldn't be cut. Ziskin agreed and Fincher wrote the replacement line, "I haven't been fucked like that since grade school". When Ziskin saw the new line, she was even more outraged and asked for the original line to be put back, but, as per their deal, Fincher refused.

Oh no...I can actually envision this in Russo-booked WCW: Bayley cutting really awful and heatless SHOOTZ, which we know are REAL because Schiavone keeps screaming, "THIS IS A SHOOT!" And Mark Madden can refer to her as "Bayl-ME" 10,000 times in the two weeks before Vic Venom flips her back to the exuberant, childlike character without explanation.

Bayley throwing her tassle-covered, lime green outfits and wacky tube men into a burning trashcan, then declaring that not only has she kissed a boy, but that she actually loves to fuck, sure would be something.

I wouldn't go that far.  Eugene was a portrayal of a mentally handicapped person that while entertaining was wrong at the same time.  Bayley's a competent woman who won't budge on being wholesome and a role model to girls.  And yes that's factoring in the child-like colors and such.  I just don't like that comparison at all.  But whether you agree on that or not the fact that people are considering her the female Eugene is sad and an indication of how much they fucked up her character.

If this newz~! story is correct, she is not a competent and functional adult but rather a childlike simpleton who is way too into hugs, in a creepy way that skeeves people out, and has never kissed a boy.

  4. Chuck's ego did him in as much as anything else did.  Even after it became plain as day his illness was of the mental variety, he had to be the master of all, showing everyone that he could conquer his illness in record time.  Him showing off was also a con on Hamlin and Jimmy, in part, but it was more just a sad, ego-driven man desperate to be greater than everyone and everything.

This is such a great show.  Characters like Chuck and Hamlin would be one note, mustache-twirling baddies if this was a broadcast network show.  Here, you still feel bad for Chuck after everything and I also felt gutted at Hamlin's genuine hurt during and after the boardroom scene.  Damn.

If you're an indy talent you get training from some awesome coaches, work on your promos and practice all kinds of cool shit that you couldn't do without doing it live.  Even if they don't make it and leave if they use the resources to the fullest that alone would be worth them going.

That's a good point.  It's what Chris Hero did and his post-NXT indy run was awesome.

Here is the real backlash from the Women's MITB debacle.  If you are trying to sign a top indy female what do you think they say after watching that match and how the women are booked in general?  You know the travel rigors and now you see tremendously shitty booking.

Money, the lure of finally making it to the big league, not caring about booking OR deluding themselves into believing they will be the one person out of 100 that'll be used properly.  All of those or some combination.  The same reasons top male indy talent goes to WWE.

Its not even the worst female booking in WWE this month.

I'm not surprised.  I'm reading people complain about the tone deaf booking of the match (and yes, it was, but that's beside the point) and all I keep thinking is, "that's how all their booking is.  Why did any of you expect better?"  It's not a matter of "will they fuck this up?"  It's  a matter of in which awful, comical way they'll fuck up this time.

In the first ever, historic, women's MITB match, they actually had a man climb up to get the briefcase and hand it to a woman. Absolutely one of the most tone deaf decisions they've ever made. So, so stupid.

No, you still undercut your own narrative you video packaged before the match after the intros for a weapons grade tone deaf horseshit Russo-esque booking decision that can have non-wrestling consequences to the company.

It was shit no matter who was involved.

We'll have to disagree on this.  Because having a man pull down the women's briefcase in the first-ever MITB for the division is incredibly tone deaf IMO.

The problem is, this is the type of heat that causes fans to turn off the TV and never watch WWE programming again. David Arquette and Vince Russo winning the WCW World Title got heat too but still did major damage to the company.

Men and women are finally equal in WWE...both are booked equally shitty.  It's a revolution, folks.  We're witnessing history.

Got a new tattoo today. Chest tattoos are definitely ouchier than arm and shoulder tattoos.

Scott Steiner and Brock Lesnar approve!  Pain-wise, the worst tattoo pain I've ever had was on my inner arm below the armpit.  Never again.

I'm getting some work done in August/September and I'm beyond excited about it.

  10. I had a six of Brooklyn Brewing's "Brooklyn Defender" IPA and a glass of Port City's Monumental IPA on draught this weekend.  Both were delicious and I'd recommend them.  This isn't Beer Advocate so I'm not going to go on a douchy missive about mouthfeel or lacing or whatever.  Go try them if you like IPAs.

This is ridiculous and completely ignorant of all the research and case studies of CTE in the last 10+ years. Do you really think all these lurking psychopaths congregating in activities rife with sub-concussive head trauma is just an amazing coincidence?

A 25-year-old NFL player in good standing with the community and with no history of violence killed his girlfriend and himself no more than 5 minutes from my house. Hand-waving degenerative brain disease and putting the onus on the individual instead of admitting that it's a legitimate risk of the sport is the real cognitive dissonance.

I don't think anybody's saying it's just one thing or just another thing.  My original response was to someone saying something about Benoit's brain being rewired by CTE to kill his family.  I really believe it's a combination of CTE, tons of steroid use, and whatever mental baggage Benoit brought to the table that was obviously made worse by this insane industry.  But I don't think CTE made him refer to a guy crying over  a recent death as "a little bitch" and I don't think CTE made him the locker room bully that some eventually admitted he was.

  12. Nah, that's Chuck.  Also, Sole Food on the apron makes no sense.  It's deadly and the HARDEST PART OF THE RING~! so you do a move where YOU take the bump?

Also, I've only suffered through a handful of his matches but I can safely assume Adam Page has never hit that "apron shooting star to a standing opponent" properly.

  13. The Universal rep's comment is art and whoever this press flak is, he's earning every dime.  He absolutely confirms Cruise's over-involvement in the production in the nicest way possible and almost making it sound like a good thing.

Tom approaches every project with a level of commitment and dedication that is unmatched by most working in our business today. He has been a true partner and creative collaborator, and his goal with any project he works on is to provide audiences with a truly cinematic moviegoing experience.

It's like the time my CIO asked me to write a review of my manager, so I described how great his technical skills were while saying as little as possible about his managerial acumen (because there was none).

  14. I weighed myself after running 4 miles this morning and my weight was up a pound or two from last week.  I took off my running shoes (really light Sauconys) and my weight dropped by 5 pounds.  I just looked up the shoes and they weight 9.7oz.  So WTF?

I just accepted my non-shoe-but-wearing-sweaty-running-gear weight as official. :)

  15. Since there was some beer talk in the Billy Corgan NWA Shitshow thread, I figured I'd put something here.

A quick look at good beers I've tried recently:

Sweetwater 420 Ale and Sweetwater IPA: inexpensive (8 bucks and change here in the DC suburbs, which is a steal), crisp and tasty

Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin: I like every beer I've tried by Lagunitas with the exception of their Daytimer session IPA, which tastes like IPA-flavored water.  LSS keeps the streak alive.  Strong and delicious.

Union Craft Brewing's Steady Eddie: a Wheat IPA made right in my hometown to commemorate the greatest ballplayer of my childhood, Eddie Murray.  Really tasty and I usually never go for anything with "wheat" in the title.

One bad beer I tried recently:

Red Shedman's Pump House IPA.  Laughably billed as a "true West Coast IPA" on their website.  This beer is hot garbage.  It's brewed in Mt. Airy, MD, the only place a beer this bad could have conceivably come from.  Maybe's it's just my distaste for the place from living there for a while.  Bunch of hicks.  Anyway, this is as far from a "true IPA" as you can get.  Weak tasting bilgewater, awful aroma, and it came in a can with a plastic wrapper instead of direct-printed, which just screams "quality," I'm sure.  And it had printing errors on it.  Yeesh.  I have never bought another thing from this joke of a brewery.

Would you be quick to throw more money into the hole that is the NWA?  Patent renewals aren't free.

Not to be pedantic, but it's a trademark, not a patent. ;) And I think it's around $500.

Beer thing from an admitted beer snob: In my experience, people who think beer is awful/"tastes like piss" have only ever tried shitty mass produced crap like Bud, ie, beers that pretty much do taste like piss.  That's like getting diarrhea from Taco Bell and swearing off Mexican food because of it.
