  1. Because it was discussed on the latest Bischoff pod, I went back and rewatched Bash 96 and there's an argument that this might be one of the 10 best PPV's ever and one of the best ever in WCW. The variety of matches, Peak Dusty commentary, but most notably the storytelling throughout. The Horsemen angle that runs throughout the show is amazing, and even little stuff like Luger checking on Bischoff on his way to the ring. Sting's promo has no place in 2020, and the main event didn't set the world on fire (though Giant was credible as hell), but man what a fucking show. This show, through the Disney parking lot tapings, through BATB, until Hog Wild is probably peak WCW.
  2. Montez Ford can frog splash his ass off. Damn.
  3. Fangraphs hates that trade for Raw. You don’t swap a #2 starter for two #4’s. You really need a prospect there on the SD side to sweeten the future value. I’d have balked at this deal unless it included a FV 45 like Mustafa Ali.
  4. Hard to argue keeping Backstage going when it requires a dozen+ people and drew the ratings it was drawing, when recent evidence shows you can just show classic content in that slot. Hate to see people lose their jobs, but that show felt DOA from an economic standpoint from the start.
  5. Last Ride was very well made and extremely good, but man, that was depressing as hell and I’m pretty sure that was the point. Taker clearly doesn’t know what he’s looking for but is going to keep going because he won’t know if or when he gets it. It’s basically The Wrestler, about 3-4 years before the death matches against Necro.
  6. Two great tag guys. Power Ratings: Power and Glory > Vicious and Delicious > Jurassic Powers > Fire and Ice
  7. *reads Tony tweet* *clicks on comments* With a tear. In my eye! The whole thread cracked me up. Talk about playing the hits.
  8. I hope they stall it out until they get some type of live crowd back (likely not possible), but yeah this is gonna be fun. I look forward to the "who's the fourth man" aspect. Let's run it down: MJF - the obvious/logical "Tully" choice and history with Cody. Which leads me to think they won't go there. Archer - The "Sid" choice. Again history with Cody. Hangman - You could recreate BATB ,96 basically shot for shot. But not a fan of turning your next (current?) big babyface while there's a lot of steam left there. Omega - A swerve on the BATB '96 idea (Hangman really does help, then Kenny turns). Britt Baker - using a female talent is an outside the box idea, and the gimmick/attitude fit the "Tully" mold.
  9. Ricky Starks! Man he's gonna tear it up with Sammy, Jungle Boy and Darby .He's a perfect fit.
  10. I loved the Bill Goldberg style Abadon debut. That ruled.
  11. That show kicked ass. Hot open, hot close. God, OC as cameraman reveal would have been nuclear to a live crowd.
  12. I've been tracking a lot of the college football return to workout stuff and its all very similar: show up, split into groups, COVID test, temperature check, wristband. If WWE isn't/wasn't following a similar protocol until literally today, that blows my mind.
  13. Honestly I thought tonight's show was very solid. Orton is on fire and I'm curious where the Flair-as-heater part of this goes. IED, McMahon-punting Orton is the best Orton.
  14. Amazing year for the company. Not so great show. Did they ever say why they didn't run a stadium here? Business had clearly picked up by 1999 and they chose locations a year out. Lots of money left on the table by having the show in Anaheim.
  15. Those two dudes busted their ass. You knew they’d play the classics given the build but Ioved how a lot of it tied into those that played a role in the leadup to the match and the booth did a great job putting the story over. Big fan of tonight’s main event. Orton with some grade A shit talk at the end also.
  16. Was watching the muthaship last night and it struck me that in 20 years no one has stolen Roadblock’s backflip over the ropes from the apron finish. How a fat dude isn’t using they right now is beyond me. Like Otis needs to watch some Disney taping stat.
  17. If you had “Charlotte laughs off a loss” in post-PPV bingo, congrats.
  18. Main event was great. Mens title match was an interesting take, filmed more in the Piper/Goldust style with the live commentary. But both guys felt like lame ducks until Kross squashes them in three months. Dream in particular needs a lot of help.
  19. Yeah we’ve said this a few times now but Mongo as a charismatic shit talking jock with shitty in-ring execution is vastly superior than Paul Roma as a charisma vacuum with crisp in-ring execution.
