DVDVRSBE: HAPPY: A MEMOIR by ALEX LEMON

It's been over a year since I read this.  Blanking on a lot of the details.  But I read 50 non-fiction books in 2012, and I thought this was the best one.

It's an autobiography by Alex Lemon, who developed some kind of life-threatening brain problem during college and coped with it by drinking and sleeping with women.  Eventually his family takes him back in, and he starts getting treatment.

The part that stands out for me is one night when he's in the hospital, they put some guy in the bed next to him who's in an emergency situation, and he dies.  And Lemon is like "I was glad he died and not me."  It's kind of normal to feel that way, I think, if someone was legitimately fearing for their own life, but it's something we would think but never say.  So the honesty made a huge impact on me.

I read the last 50 or so pages in an airport & on my flight as it was taking off, and I kept having to put the book down so as not to start crying in public.
