Impact Wrestling - 6/15/23: The Machine Gun Era Begins

Loved the opening seg of everyone getting involved, setting up the all star main event. Swann/Moose got a lot of time and was very good, great catch cutter by Swann. Badass Scott D'Amore is back in action!

Interesting that Maclin will get his title rematch on the Australia tour. I initially thought he may win it back quick but doesn't seem likely anymore.  Shelley vs. Aldis is certainly an unexpected main event match for Slammiversary. I was wondering if it was going to end up with Aldis turning but didn't expect it would happen so soon in to his return. Main event was definitely a fun one with a nice mix of talents.

*BTI: Champagne Singh & Shera def. Laredo Kid & Jack Price (7:48) when Singh pinned Price after the Champagne Pump. After the match, Heath ran in and laid out Shera & Singh.

Impact Wrestling - Airing June 15, 2023 from Columbus, OH

*New Impact World & X Division Champions, Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin opened the show with a promo about Sabin becoming the first 9 time X Division Champion and Shelley finally becoming world champion. #1 contender Nick Aldis interrupted. Aldis put over the MCMG calling their shots and doing what they said. Aldis credited Shelley for helping him when he first started, but said he would do everything in his power to take the world title at Slammiversary. Trey Miguel interrupted and said they were forgetting to show him respect. Sabin challenged Trey to come say it to his face. Kenny King & Sheldon Jean then joined Trey on the ramp. King mocked the amount of opportunities Aldis and the Machine Guns get. Sabin challenged them to a 3 on 3 so they headed to the ring but were interrupted by Gisele Shaw, Savannah Evans, & Jai Vidal. Gisele complained about the red carpet being rolled out for them when she wants the spotlight. Trinity interrupted and said she came to see Gisele get schooled. Trinity and Vidal went back and forth until Deonna Purrazzo interrupted and announced that she had surpassed 500 combined days as knockouts champion. Trinity said that's until Slammiversary while Aldis said a few things would change there. Santino Marella then came out and announced a 10 person tag team main event of Shelley, Sabin, Aldis, Trinity, & Deonna vs. Trey, King, Sheldon, Gisele, & Savannah.

*Rich Swann def. Moose (17:37) with a rollup.

*Bully Ray came to the ring for a promo and complained that Scott D'Amore cost him the chance of becoming #1 contender. D'Amore came out and called Bully a whining bitch. They argued back and forth until D'Amore admitted that he had to stand in front of the Anthem board, who acknowledged that D'Amore's actions at Against All Odds were unbecoming of Impact President, so they strongly advised him to take a leave of absence as President. Bully said D'Amore tried to screw him, but his bosses screwed him. Bully told D'Amore to get out. D'Amore said he agreed with the decision so that he could do this, and then tackled Bully with punches until Steve Maclin ran out to beat up D'Amore. Bully & Maclin went after D'Amore with steel chairs until PCO made the save. D'Amore then announced his last official duty as President was to make Steve Maclin & Bully Ray vs. PCO & Scott D'Amore at Slammiversary. 

*The ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) def. Decay (Crazzy Steve & Black Taurus) (3:14) when Bey pinned Steve after Ace hit The Fold.

*Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Nick Aldis, Deonna Purrazzo, & Trinity def. Trey Miguel, Kenny King, Sheldon Jean, Gisele Shaw, & Savannah Evans (w/ Jai Vidal) (18:43) when Shelley pinned Jean after the Shellshock. After the match, Aldis turned heel and hit Shelley with the Impact World Title.

Looking forward to Shelley-Aldis, glad he escaped the Corganverse.

How have I never noticed that Scott D'Amore looks exactly like an adult toddler?

Always sad when I remember to watch Impact and I don't get to hear Joe Hendry's theme.
