  1. Also, TRAINS. Spoiler alert: The answer to my question will be TRAINS.
  2. So, that's... On The Waterfront and The Godfather = Brando The French Connection and Unforgiven = Hackman Silver Linings Playbook = Lawrence Monsters Ball = Berry No Country for Old Men = Bardem So, all the movies feature an actor/actress who have won an academy award.
  3. I have no clue if this is true or not, but, no. I could belive it for 3 out of 4, but I have a hard time believing 500,000 people bought the X-MEN soundtrack.
  4. And they all feature scenes with MOTHERFUCKING TRAINS.
  5. Hey, guys, what's going on in this thr...
  6. The loss to Georgia Southern definitely doesn't help Muschamp's situation, but I don't know if it's a death-knell. I'm still not certain you can fire a coach one year after he took you to a BCS game when he's been hit as hard by injuries as Boom has. I mean, he's played the past two games with Skyler Mornhinweg at QB. And Georgia Southern is no joke either. Nasty, nasty triple option team. They gave Alabama and Georgia fits the past couple of years. I honestly have no idea why an FBS team would schedule them.
  7. I said it a couple weeks ago, but it bears repeating: Oregon is the most overrated team heading into November EVERY YEAR. The exact same thing will happen next year, too. People never learn. Nice to see Baylor getting their card pulled tonight, as well.
  8. I thought it was terrible and began dipping into self-parody starting about at the scene where the dude putters dumbly around the room while torturing that guy. If not then, then definitely when it immediatley cuts to yet another karaoke scene. That's the movie in a nutshell. From that point on, I found myself laughing uncontrollably at just about everything.
  9. I'm pretty excited today because they just announced Alabama and Southern Miss will play again next year. Used to play every year but haven't since 2005, after Bama decided there were less competitive mid-major teams they could be playing. I guess Southern Miss has finally gotten shitty enough (the losing streak is 22 games and counting) that Alabama doesn't sweat playing them anymore.

    HOMELAND

How can that be your first response to this episode? There is so much actual shit to nit pick. There was also a whole lot of good stuff. I respect your TV opinions more than most, but that seems sort of petty. That was just a stream of consciousness post that occurred to me as I was watching the replay. There's a lot more to say about the episode, but that's all I really had the chance to say at the time. Saul knowing about Brody is a big twist, but at this point, I'm so leery of the show's logic-fails when it comes to this stuff, I'm trying really hard not to think about it, because I feel fairly certain it must contradict something that has happened this season. On a similar note, while I'm interested in what the previews suggest Saul's intentions for Brody are, I just look at the condition Brody is in when Saul finds him and know there is no way that they can get him clean and in shape to carry out a mission in 9 days. So, either they have to figure out some way to keep Saul in charge for a longer period of time....or just fuck it and have him Jack Bauer his way through addiction like a machine. The way this season has gone, I'm just leery of everything. And I really kinda hated the stuff at the motel. It took what's become a tiresome HOMELAND trope (Carrie disobeys orders and sabotages an operation based on one of her hunches) and combined it with the classic 24 trope of a person of interest getting taken out just before the good guys can bring them in. I really don't know what Quinn's arc is right now. They left so much potentially great material on the shelf with him (and Dar Adal, who reached a new low this week, as not even the scumsucking lawyer had an ounce of fear of him). Last episode (or the one before that, I forget), when he met with Detective Clark Johnson, and Johnson ridiculously asked him something like, "Do you people ever make anything better," the connection the show was wanting us to make was to Quinn accidentally killing the kid in 3.1, but I couldn't help thinking that the connection should have been to him letting Brody live and how much better this season could have been if they had followed up on that...at all.

FX has ordered a 13-episode season of an adaptation of Guillermo del Toro's THE STRAIN. Kinda figured it was coming, but it's confirmed now. Carlton Cuse will run it, and the GREAT Corey Stoll will star. I'm interested.
  12. The thing is, while everyone expects him to go back to being a villain soon, it would make these episodes an even bigger fucking waste of time, because they won't have meant anything.

Sam Catlin's name got my attention. He wrote some of the best episodes of BREAKING BAD.
  14. I enjoyed the game, but it really is blatant how WB Montreal just took Rocksteady's assets and slapped a new coat of paint on them. Examples off the top of my head: -The Pinkney plaques are the Arkham symbols from AA. -The Anarky missions are a mashup of the Azraeal "spot the guy on the rooftop" stuff and the Zsasz missions from AC. -The Anarky tags are the Riddler question marks. -Black Mask's drug stashes are the Titan containers in AC. -The Mad Hatter sidequest is the Scarecrow levels from AA. -The Shiva stuff is a mashup of a Riddler room and the Talia stuff from AC. -The Deadshot fight is the Two-Face/Catwoman predator encounter from AC. -The Firefly fight reminds me a lot of the Poison Ivy fight from AA. -The Copperhead fight is a mashup of the Mad Hatter brawl and parts of the Ra's al Ghul fight in AC. -The last Bane fight mashes up the series' classic "dodge the Titan" trope with the Mr. Freeze fight from AC. There's more stuff I'm forgetting. On the plus side, they were wise not to bring over the Solomon Grundy fight, which was my least favorite of the series. And, while extremely frustrating, I thought the last Bane fight was a pretty inspired idea. Only the Deathstroke fight felt completely new and different. Although now that I think about it, even that fight recycled the "block Ra's al Ghul's sword strokes in rapid succession" quicktime event from AC.
  15. Did anybody else know about the Pinkney plaques beforehand? I didn't even know they were a thing until after I finished the game and I was looking up some help for finding the last few Anarky tags I was missing.

    HOMELAND

I wonder how hard it is to be a practicing lawyer AND a master assassin. Like, that's a lot of school, I imagine.
  17. This show is always better when imagining what other fictional characters in it. Superior Kentucky lawman Raylan Givens blowing away the Governor the moment he put his gun down at that neutral ground meeting last season was my favorite moment that never happened.
  18. I really thought it had an outside shot of unseating Thor on top.
  19. I'm exceedingly curious to see if the post-credits sequence goes anywhere, or if they just realized, "Shit, these credits are 30 minutes long, we've gotta put something after them...any ideas?"

He's not necessarily playing anybody in it. The rumor is that he and Evan Goldberg are producing it, which means they'll likely write the pilot and maybe direct it. Beyond that, who knows. It's difficult to see them signing up to run the show full-time.
  21. No, but they certainly spent enough time hammering you over the head with the parallels between the two, I suppose you could have easily made that mistake. I definitely understand the need to walk that character back several hundred paces from the cartoon he had become by the end of last season, but it was really kind of pitiful how brazenly they were begging viewers to give him another chance. Morrissey didn't really help matters. I'm not sure which was worse, his wig and fake beard or his actual performance in that getup. Granted, I had just watched ONLY GOD FORGIVES the day before this episode, so it's possible I was mentally primed to laugh hysterically at a nearly mute guy dumbly puttering around.

Tell me I'm seeing things and I didn't just watch a guy dissolve someone in acid in a bathtub. #unflatteringcomparisons
  23. What the fuck were they thinking with that Governor episode? Who thought that was a good idea? "Yeah, we're going to do back to back episodes only featuring the Governor and nobody else, people will love it." How does an idea that terrible even make it out of the writer's room? You'd think at some point an AMC suit would be, like, "WTF are you trying to kill the biggest show on TV?" It'd be different if he was a character people loved to hate, but he isn't. No one is dying to spend two hours catching up with the Governor.
