  1. Tell me that helmet is just a one week thing and not something they plan on trotting out all season. It might just be the TV I'm watching on, but when they go to the wide shot, I can barely even make out the U. Horrible. They could just as easily be Eastern Michigan.
  2. Unis are neat, helmets are trash.
  3. Excellent. Pleasantly surprised by the 1st season. Anxious to see if season 2 can live up to the potential that was there.
  4. Man, you guys could've at least saved your fuck votes for a decent movie, not a movie so bad it made Sean Connery say, "You know what? If this is the future of cinema, I'm fucking OUT."
  5. Watching the trailer for STEEL has led me to the realization that I have never seen STEEL. Is that a woman in a wheelchair doing a wheelie while firing...rockets from the wheelchair?
  6. LAST STAND pisses me off because, aside from being shitty and shitting all over the movies that came beforehand, it also poisoned the well for some good X-Men movies that came afterwards. Especially THE WOLVERINE. If that movie had come out after DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, it would've made a lot more money than it did.
  7. Fuck it, I went with Punisher just because I knew no one else would vote for it.
  8. That scene looks incredible to this very day, which is really saying something when you consider both the advancements in CG over the past 10 years and the escalation of spectacle in summer blockbusters. It's proof that you don't have to destroy a city to create an awesome scene that will leave a lasting impression.
  9. Was not expecting to vote for SPIDER-MAN 3, but those Fantastic Four movies...woof. It's gonna be hilarious when the whole ASM series gets bounced in the first round.
  10. I liked CONSTANTINE. I had no previous connection to the character, so I wasn't as offended by the Keanu casting as some. I don't think it's especially good, but it's a perfectly acceptable supernatural thriller. Pretty much any time I run across it on cable, I'll leave it on while I'm doing other stuff.
  11. I finally went with B&R, based simply on rewatchability. You can jump into that movie at any point and be entertained. WATCHMEN is something you kinda have to invest in watching, and as such, I haven't rewatched it nearly as much. But I still like it a lot, and even think it *gasp* improves on the graphic novel in some ways.
  12. WRONG PUNISHER. I think. If you're talking about Harry Heck, that's the Tom Jane Punisher. That would be an even better matchup: Spirtual successor to 80's sci-fi/fantasy B-movies vs. spiritual successor to 80's action B-movies.
  13. FIRST CLASS vs. THE DARK WORLD really highlights the difference between hiring a real director to do your movie and hiring...some dude who can get the work done on time and on budget. FIRST CLASS is not without its problems, but damn, does it have style for days, courtesy of Matthew Vaughn. Every frame of that movie is carefully composed. Every scene has something visually interesting going on, even if it's just the background. Compare that with the virtually anonymous job Alan Taylor does on Thor 2, and you might as well be looking at the work of an amateur. I thought Singer did a great job coming back to the series for DOFP, but I regret we won't see anymore of Vaughn's work in the series.
  14. Someone's gonna have to help me make up my mind on THOR and PUNISHER. I'm pretty down on the Thor series these days, but the first one did give us Hiddleston as Loki, and it's basically a remake of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, which is not without its charms.
  15. OOF. B&R vs. Watchmen is a really tough matchup for me. I like both of those movies better than the general consensus.
  16. IM2 is by far the worst Marvel Studios movie. That was the moment when they were on the precipice of tipping over into the realm of franchise wanking where the Spider-Man series currently resides. Whether that makes it worse than DAREDEVIL...I dunno. At least it kind of has a plot and character stakes, as opposed to IM2 which is just...stuff happening while we further setup SHIELD and the Avengers and whatnot. IM2 also committed the sin of casting Mickey Rourke at the height of his comeback and then totally wasting him in a worthless role. At least DD let Farrell and Duncan play.
  17. Okay, matches 6, 7, and 8 are interesting. I mean, X2 is clearly head and shoulders better than IM3, but the Marvel halo effect could garner it some support. IM2 vs DAREDEVIL is a good matchup of shitty movies. THOR/Ray Stevenson Punisher is a fascinating matchup of a classy big budget production that doesn't realize it's a B-movie vs. a trashy B-movie that is fully aware of what it is.
  18. I voted the Batman ticket. FOREVER is a terrible movie, and if I had seen RED 2, maybe it would've had a chance, but I haven't and all the reviews were equally terrible.
  19. Okay, dude who voted for the Tom Jane Punisher over Winter Soldier needs to explain that one.
  20. I anticipate 4 shutouts. I'm going to pull a Dylan Waco and save my Avengers argument for a matchup it could conceivably lose.
  21. Apparently, Tennesse's 3rd down defense theme is Turn Down For What. Turn Down For What. Every. Third. Down. I anticipate a high number of season ticket holder suicides this year. I mean, way more than average for Tennessee football.
  22. Between the performances of West Virginia and Oklahoma State, I'm thinking the Big 12 might be a little better than people were expecting this season.
