  1. Someone was saying in a different board how the Master was always supposed to be a rubbish villain, since his schemes always failed. I've now gotten through the bulk of the Roger Delgado Master stories and I have to say he seems to be a villainous Sting/Hulk Hogan in that everyone he ever takes as an ally ends up betraying him. Doesn't do much for your reputation if your prime distinguishing villainous character trait is your gullibility.
  2. Funny thing- it seems Sierra never actually used the "Cuban Assassin" gimmick in Portland. He was the Destroyer, Top Gun and the Assassin, just not a Cuban one. Was he the Destroyer in the Buddy Rose Army?
  3. So are the Oscars still in the period of "Either Cumberbatch or Redmayne will win for playing tortured historical figure/guy in wheelchair" or are they out of that phase?
  4. I didn't know he was the cousin of Chuck Negron from Three Dog Night. He had an enjoyable cameo in the cheap but fun indie flick My Dinner With Jimi, playing an army psychologist who was not amused by the shenanigans. He was one of those actors who always put a bit of zazz into any role he played. RIP
  5. I'm at series 3 of the 8th Doctor and God damn are they ever thick with early 4th Doctor villains. The Zygons, Morbius, The Krynoids, The Wirrn ... I keep waiting for the K1 Robot to show up. And one of the villains of Hothouse turns out to be Neil from the Young Ones.
  6. Strange they would write a play with music starring a Doctor who actually released a single (Pertwee) and not write a song for him to at least Rex Harrison his way through.
  7. Hard to top Doctor Who And The Pirates in the 6th Doctor Sings stakes.
  8. Wow, full 4 part story line involving Sutekh. Looking forward to it.
  9. I am early in the Eighth Doctor series, but I can't say I've warmed up to Lucie Miller yet. My understanding of Tamsin (and I haven't got to her stories yet) was that she was supposed to be a companion that didn't really fit in. Eighth seems to be prone to these (see C'rizz).
  10. The Aviator, Oz, Annie, Big Business, The Cat's Meow, The Purple Rose Of Cairo, and of course he was in an awesome episode of MASH ... the man was a tank. RIP Edward, thanks for all of the great performances.
  11. http://marvel.com/news/tv/23866/mike_colter_to_star_as_luke_cage_in_marvels_aka_jessica_jones#ixzz3MgOf4CJ2 I know nothing of his acting but he certainly looks the part.
  12. He was also the inspiration for the guy in the Bumblebee Costume on the Simpsons. RIP
  13. Never knew before today he had an EGOT. RIP, very diverse and multi talented guy, besides the obvious credits, I loved Nichols and May.
  14. I'm still way behind on Big Finish, I have finished #77 : Other Lives but am taking a break on the main range to get caught up on the spin offs up to the point I am listening in the main range (about 2006). I have done Sarah Jane Smith, UNIT, Excelis and the first 3 seasons of Galifrey but still need to do the second and third seasons of Dalek Empire, first season of Cyberman and Unbound.
  15. Are there any major Expanded Universe stories where the Master encountered either the first or second doctors?
  16. Why not Frobisher? Abslom Daak is now officially in continuity.
  17. The director of the Rush documentary, Sam Dunn, made an awesome doc called Metal : A Headbanger's Journey. I reccommend it to anyone who is interested in music.
  18. Feeling like a fool, right up until the very last moment of the reveal I thought it was Romana, even when she said Missy was short for Mistress (I was thinking of how K9 always called her "Mistress")
  19. I miss the watching parties. I even got a mic for my laptop so I might possibly join in at some point ... then there never was a next one.
