It's the best thing for all parties. Fox had to dump Sonnen, being so closely tied in with the UFC. ESPN's MMA coverage is just about nil, and adding Sonnen helps them, even if it's just a tiny bit. I also think his PED past helps him (oddly) at ESPN, because with their 800 talking head shows, he could get into some interesting discussions without trying to step on the toes of his former employer.

Actually, a rumor did pop up in the last hour that the Mets are "engaged" with Colorado on Tulowitzki. It's only November 10th, Mets got a lot better last year, will have Harvey back for 2015, could be a surprising contender.

I think we're starting to see the tide start to turn on the prospect/draft lust we've seen grow over the last few seasons. We saw it when the A's traded Russell for Samardzija. We're seeing it now with the Mets, to a different extent. The 15th overall pick isn't a slam dunk - the best prior picks have been Chase Utley, Jim Rice, Chris Carpenter, Richie Hebner, and then...Scott Kazmir and Royce Clayton. Can't rebuild forever. New York also hasn't historically drafted well in the first round, and maybe that has something to do with it.

I think I said this before - I'll never fault a GM for shooting for the stars. What if in two months time, all of the top FA pitchers have signed with teams that aren't the Cubs, and Hamels is still there? You don't think Theo and Jed will look at this situation and be more inclined to pay that price?
