  1. I love them selling 24yo Art Barr as being 18. Then again, this is a situation where a guy convicted of sexual abuse (with a 19yo woman) comes down to the ring with a bunch of 8 year olds
  2. gotta wonder how much of the near-comatose crowd thought Jake the Snake was a new guy who was making a surprise debut to take on the Shield?
  3. voting for Jack Morris and snubbing every PED era guy is like voting for Larry Zbyszko for the Wrestling Hall of Fame and snubbing every post-1985 candidate
  4. More NJ in WCW Kanemoto/Ohtani v. the American Males https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vN8AJM9UkGY Watch as Bagwell takes a Tree of Woe in an interesting way! Watch Tony sell more Heenan jokes than usual! Watch the kinda random out-of-nowhere "Fuck you, we'll get our finish, stop crying" finish! Kanemoto/Ohtani v. Todd Morton/Doug Becker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0dU1rJgx0o I might be easily impressed, but the quick spinning toe hold from Kanemoto looked pretty impressive (even if the finish had one flaw with the moonsault) Also, impending NJ in WCW Worldwide matches from 12/17 and 12/24! Jushin Liger v. Skip Brown / Kanemoto v. JL Ohtani v. Bart Sawyer / Sasaki v. JL Name redacted v. Big Train Bart is on 12/10
  5. i'm guessing the post-match if Backlund won the poll would be a Chickenwing Crossface. And no idea if they would have let Arn do a Spinebuster post-match if he won. Although Slaughter winning that poll is pretty not-surprising. The guy has a pretty solid record of winning fan polls. Considering how much they love the app, i'm surprised they haven't brought back Cyber Sunday/Taboo Tuesday and used all-app voting for the variables
  6. better than recent Lawler is not a high standard. Late WCW "IDGAF" Bobby Heenan is better than recent Lawler
  7. Rikishi's 48, so.. let's see, how many Samoan family guys have been working at that age Afa in 1990? probably not. Sika in 1993? Doubtful. Samu turned 48 in 2011. Tama is Rikishi's twin brother and doesn't seem to be doing anything. Two of the Samoans died before 40 (Umaga/Yokozuna). So Rikishi probably beat a few odds by being able to do some sort of wrestling at 48 and not being stopped by any sort of fish-aided stomach viruses/heart attacks. Also love that "i'm gonna attempt a sunset flip on a guy whose finisher is a butt drop" finish. At least the didn't finish on the world's slowest Worm If Flair's liver hasn't given out yet, when will it? Guessing it's at a Keith Richards level by now
  8. Living in Hawaii? yeah, Flair also sounded like that in his motivational speech to the 49ers. So it might be consistent intoxication or he just sounds bad all the time hopefully Jake didn't get a contact buzz from getting too close to Flair
  9. What?! Why?!?! Ah, yes, commentators distracting me from the match with their insane and stupid ramblings. Just what I want from my wrestling. Yeah, no thanks. And I don't even find Dusty's commentary funny, either. It's just kind of... embarrassing. In a board full of WCW marks, I'm not surprised nearly everyone here loves him. to be fair, insane stupid rambling beats the inane stupid rambling that the current WWE crew brings. Gotta admit, for a situation where the WWE bought WCW for pennies, a lot of WCW guys have influential WWE spots. In a way, WCW didn't totally lose the Monday Night Wars
  10. how about he gets the Big Bossman's Blues Brothers car and drives through a town insulting people through the loud speaker?
  11. or the lift gets stuck and he's up there for hours on end pleading for help
  12. also love that they're still advertising Daniel Bryan v. Bray Wyatt in a cage for house shows (apparently they did that match over the weekend as a voluntary beating sort of thing, but i'd imagine they're turning Bryan back or doing 4 weeks of Daniel Bryan taking voluntary beatings in a case) And Baltimore is now the site of two surprise Jake the Snake appearances
  13. as was Jake teasing putting the snake down Dean's pants with one of the other people audibly mentioning something about "PG" around that time
  14. yeah, easier to take bumps into the barrier than the rail. Plus we got a few years of Jeff Hardy barrier running spots out of it
  15. it seems like something they did in 1998, as for specific incidents, probably nothing, but it'd seem a bit more safe to go from a rail to a barrier
  16. I found a poll where we could vote on if we wanted Jerry Lawler to have a heart attack or not. I thought the poll was about who we wanted to be Lawler's heart surgeon, The Great Khali is winning at the moment
  17. so can Dusty commentate on Raw? I can imagine Dusty/JBL might be a fun dynamic between face/heel color commentators?
  18. so, who's down for the concept of Brock coming out again and essentially doing the same challenge/baiting, leading to Bob Backlund coming out and trying to do some crazy strength spots, before Brock (SD native/U of Minnesota) nukes Backlund (MN native/North Dakota State) despite the pleas of Heyman? probably not quite happening but..
  19. The Montreal Canadiens defeated the New York Islanders 5-1. The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Quebec Nordiques 7-4. Hockey-reference.com is an awesome site, btw.Hmm, so it wasn't a total loss. Not really. Dino Bravo had retired from being an active wrestler and had been boring since about 1988 while the Habs won the Stanley Cup in 1993. I'd trade a boring retired wrestler any day of the week for a San Jose Sharks Stanley Cup championship. A man died you puck addled savages! Maple Leafs fans would probably kill a bunch of retired wrestlers to get a Stanley Cup
  20. so he'd win the US Title from Ambrose in his first match? also, a fedora would be required, although if we tilt the gimmick towards "Reddit's /r/atheism", then the guy would film tons of vignettes yelling at random people for acknowledging a God
  21. Well said. I didn't like it either, plus Sting then goes on to join the n.W.o Wolfpac. Crow Sting was my favourite version of Sting, Wolfpac my least favourite. Shame seeing what happened to Sting from the night of Starrcade 1997 to Halloween Havoc 1998. well, what was the logical conclusion to the "Sting v. WCW" element to the gimmick? it started because they thought he turned, so he decided to forsake WCW and go on his own. For a little bit, he was doing the trust exercise with his back turned and a bat laid out. Was the conclusion one where Sting sees these WCW guys celebrating with him and he buries that hatchet for good? But should it have turned out that the presence of the NWO, even post Starrcade 97 would warp Sting away from his pre-NWO persona? And in all honesty, forming a Wolfpac stable wasn't all that bad of an idea, but having it be the NWO Wolfpac made it worse. Have the Wolfpac be guys who have some shallow alliance with WCW guys vs the remaining NWO guys? sure. Have a good-NWO and bad-NWO? Bah. Also, it's kinda remarkable that Hogan had 3 "big title losses" in the span of a year from Luger to Sting to Goldberg. Isn't it?
  22. Then he'll use one weird trick to win his matches, OPPOSING PRO WRESTLERS HATE THIS TRICK Or they just rip off the Unabomber's "Fuck technology" gimmick and have Daniel Wyatt living in a cabin and refusing to use cars or electricity
  23. yeah, Dino Bravo took over a chunk of the Montreal black market cigarette game due to his celebrity value, so they got an inside guy and killed him
