  1. here's the ASG rosters https://www.mlb.com/news/2023-mlb-all-star-pitchers-reserves-complete-rosters
  2. It's Canada Day today. So to all you Canadians out there, happy birthday!
  3. As someone regularly watching Royals games.. I'm not thrilled with the return. I think they moved because they didn't want to be left holding the bag if Chapman got hurt, which means they traded him for a guy who's on a 40 man roster and a 17 year old who has never played professional baseball outside of the Dominican Republic. For a team that has lost a lot of games, they sure do love trying to aim for major league readiness in their trades. Like they think that getting a 25 year old for 3 months of Chapman is gonna move the needle much for this team in the near term. And that was their best trade piece that got them a 25 year old on the 40 man and a 17 year old. The rest: Barlow has declined a bit over the last two years, the rest of the relievers are mostly bad or below average, and they have a bunch of youngish position players that they wouldn't dare to trade. Also, Salvador Perez and Zack Greinke have no trade clauses and Jordan Lyles has as much value as Chernobyl tapwater. This happens when you keep almost the entire front office that has been terrible for 5 years except for the GM.
  4. the story about what Paramount+ is doing with the shows they cancel: https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/the-game-grease-rise-of-the-pink-ladies-star-trek-prodigy-queen-of-the-universe-canceled-paramount-removed-1235653191/
  5. Adrian Adonis will be the next episode on July 11th. I can see why a cable channel wouldn't want to run original programming on the 4th of July, plus it probably would be a little too on the nose to run the Adrian Adonis episode 35 years to the day of his death.
  6. Jose Ramirez stealing home vs Aroldis Chapman to take the lead in extra innings don't worry, Cleveland lost the game after the Royals backup catcher knocked in 2 runs with a pinch-hit double
  7. the season finale episodes of Beavis and Butthead have arrived check it out just in case Paramount+ cancels the show and wipes out it's existence like they did to Rise Of The Pink Ladies (also check it out a few months before it airs on Comedy Central)
  8. It was interesting that the story narrative skipped JYD's first and second WCW runs and went from the WWF to indies to JYD's 1992 WCW run considering that meant they skipped over JYD/Flair
  9. Francona likely won't manage tomorrow either because it's a day game that'll be taking place in a 100+ degree heat index (partly because Cleveland plays a day game on Friday at Wrigley)
  10. Duggan saying he didn't get addicted to the drugs he was using because of his personality is what it is... Jake Roberts was sorta in business for Jake Roberts on this episode I guess you don't need Bill Watts on this episode as long as you have JR, and Bill would have taken up a lot of the oxygen in the room if he had appeared on this episode.
  11. "Mets Manager Jos LeDuc confused fans today with ponderings on mortality"
  12. and the Angels lose the series despite outscoring the Rockies 32-12
  13. the Steiners doing a Doomsday DDT to Death Row 3280 or whatever that fat dude's name was comes to mind the move that fucked up Buff Bagwell's neck wasn't their most dangerous move
  14. watching an episode of WCW Power Hour from March 1991 and just realized that Mark (Killer) Kyle could have made some money if he broke into the business when Gary Hart was a prominent manager because Killer Kyle looks like he could pass as Gary Hart's son/relative this resemblance kinda requires Kyle to have just a mustache though The Steiners did a doomsday-style Rick Steiner bulldog on Kyle to beat him, which wasn't near the most insane thing that the Steiners would do to guys back then.
  15. huge news because I don't know who that knuckleballer was in 2021 meanwhile... we got a trade!
  16. maybe if the Rays move from emulating the 1990s/2000s Oakland As to emulating the 1970s Oakland As, they'll have more drama and also win some rings Last night's Rays/Royals game had the Rays showing a little bit of how they started off so well, and they also had an inning end with a runner tagged out between 2nd and 3rd because he fell down and the Rays gave up the final run of the game because the first baseman and pitcher couldn't complete a lateral (first baseman moving away from the bag, trying to pitch it to the pitcher who had already run past him) The Rays are likely to look better vs the Royals in the 2 games where Wander plays than the two games where Wander doesn't play. Also giving someone 2 days off so they can return vs Jordan Lyles is a heck of a "benching you for the first quarter of this non-conference SEC game" punishment
  17. without knowing anything specific about the buyers, i'm guessing this goes as well as all the other times investment groups buy bankrupt assets and stripmine the company
  18. this week in Beavis and Butthead there'll be more episodes next week but I think this season is just about to end (it’ll end next week)
  19. Considering she hasn’t been with Dave Wolff for 35 years, I could see how she’s not exactly running towards embracing the time she spent with the WWF How bad was Blondie’s luck that Chris Stein got an autoimmune disease and the band broke up just before the wrestling boom? (Yeah I know the band had also had a slight downturn before their breakup too)
  20. after not reversing any plays at the plate due to blocking for years, we got two reversals in back to back nights
  21. Wikipedia lists Okada at 6'3" and Danielson at 5'10".. which... sure.. that might be a legit 5 inch difference... or Danielson fudges his height by more than Okada does.
  22. excited to see another 45 minute Cornette YouTube video that I won't watch in a few days about how concession stand brawls meant something at first but they killed the gimmick.. so I guess the Jarrett/Briscoe feud might be over unless it isn't
  23. It feels accurate to say that Duggan was pretty much cashing checks for most of his WWF/WCW tenure but that he's a nice enough guy in the realm of 80s wrestlers that he'll get a pass. Anyways Duggan spent a few years killing himself with Watts so he could get a less strenuous spot. Anyways, Borne and Duggan were on whole other planets when it came to personal habits and likability. Duggan became a good ol boy over time and Borne is became a shithead thanks to drugs. DSOTR might have soft-sold some of parts of the Borne story as a result of having family members on the show. Like not mentioning a certain thing Borne did that opened the door for the Road Warriors. That certain thing involving kidnapping.
  24. maybe they're taking the 1991/92 Luger approach of "accidentally" exhausting MJF's dates before he leaves the company a year early (yes I know they don't do contracts that way anymore)
