  1. And Duggan's coronation isn't on youtube anymore but wwe.com has some of it.
  2. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Crap. I can't find the match from Europe. you probably get a lot of the same idea with this though. Yoko's timing is so great and Duggan's comebacks are a lot of fun. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xddnrk_jim-duggan-vs-yokozuna_sport http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2q5qm_hacksaw-jim-duggan-vs-big-van-vader_sport
  3. I still think it's a waste because he could have been a big part of Cesaro's face turn. They could have let Cesaro use Real American for a year or two and he would have been super over.
  4. I'm new here. Is Old Florida some particular fetish of Matt's? Because I've got bottles of genuine Fountain of Youth water, autographed by Ponce de Leon himself, that I could let go for the right price... Nothing so grand, I'm afraid. It's just a gap in my knowledge base. It's easy to learn a lot about that era of Mid-Atlantic or Memphis or Portland or St. Louis. There are sites like Kentucky Fried Wrestling or the Mid-Atlantic Gateway and people like Matt Farmer or Larry Matysik out there and I've listened to a ton of shoot interviews, but pre-Dusty-Face-Turn Florida (and even a lot of things up to when Sullivan started his heel run, and footage wise a year or two after that), is a little harder to get at. There are probably a bunch of kayfabe memories posts I haven't read yet, but that's all scattershot. You always hear about Eddie Graham's booking and finishes and how hot the territory was for the longest time, but I, for one, am pretty low on specific knowledge. I think there's a lot of value in someone who grew up watching it (and yes, before a huge chunk of us were even born) and who is willing to reminisce.
  5. I want to hear more about growing up in Florida in the 60s and 70s, especially pre-Dusty-As-Lead-Babyface.
  6. HHH/Taker is going to be faux MMA stuff. You can't tell me that taker doesn't badly want to have that match.
  7. I hope Brock has some ridiculous entrance.
  8. I figure all of the USA shows are somehow.
  9. I love this post match beat down.
  10. I was kind of annoyed we didn't get a cameo, actually. The post show was kind of worth watching just for the Ally Sheedy bit.
  11. A lot of it is "not the right stuff," yeah, or not even that. They just haven't done it right yet. I don't want to watch WCCW or ECW with episodes missing on the idea that they'll put those episodes up eventually. I'll just wait for the full run. After watching a few random 06 and 07 PPVs that I hadn't seen, I found that I really enjoy watching things in context a lot more, so since the Raws/Smackdowns aren't up, it's not all that satisfying to me. I've enjoyed the new content a lot, the Countdowns and Wrestlemania Rewinds, but those come out once a week, on the same day. The Old Schools and Legends of Wrestling are okay but I've seen a lot of that stuff before because I actively sought it out previously.
  12. As someone with celiac disease, I again call bullshit on IHOP putting the waffle batter into the scrambled eggs. They're trying to kill me!
  13. I did enjoy Barrett on commentary in FCW back in the day.
  14. I wish we had more of these matches: This is just pretty good but it's still one of the Roadies' best AWA outings, if it's the one I'm thinking of:
  15. It would sort of be a waste of Zayn's conversational babyface charisma.
  16. Swagger should join the Real Bulgarians.
  17. It might be somehow cathartic to post the destruction of Steve O and Buck by the Shieks, but I'm not going to do that. Different styles of babyface "hulk ups" always interest me. You get Piper's punch drunk version for instance, or Lawler dropping the strap. Blackwell's was surreal. He did this thing where he would just start to freeze and absorb blows, like a giant marshmallow man or something. Just dead eyes and a crowd that knew he was about to potato some poor bastard.
  18. One of the most frustrating thing about the last year or so is that we've gotten almost no dark match/house show footage uploaded. So do catch this while you can: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=K6P1ioCgGjY Probably best to watch with the sound off until the match is over though.
  19. This is cute but lacking the fist to the ground superman punch set up which is the very best thing Reigns does. They should start calling him Khal Drogo the Dragon or something.
  20. Basically, Blackwell in a cage match is sort of an instant win: I swear I've never seen this one either: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xv62ct_giant-baba-jumbo-tsuruta-vs-stan-hansen-jerry-blackwell_sport?search_algo=2 The full Blackwell vs Mad Dog Vachon Death match isn't online as best as I can tell, but that's a hell of a match too. I don't see the Shieks vs Rock'n'Roll either, but I do see this from Memphis:
  21. The PWO board upgrade killed the readability of Dylan's annoyingly detailed research, but for anyone who doesn't know much about Blackwell, it's all a pretty compelling argument. I've also somehow never seen this match, but within 3 seconds you can sort of see how awesome Blackwell was.
  22. Jerry Blackwell is awesome. I don't even know where to begin. He's just this crazy bumping, versatile, great promo, insanely credible looking offense, charismatic machine. He might be the most overlooked guy in wrestling history, relative to his importance and talent. I mean I get why someone might overlook Chris Colt, but Blackwell's on a different level. This should have made the AWA set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxHTRLmOiYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNd88IMNG6Q I can't find the Mid-Atlantic year In review episode from 78 where they show Blackwell vs Mulligan which is one of the better Mulligan matches on tape. The face turn is awesome: This match isn't great but it does show you more of Blackwell's versatility: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBbRRxxymxk My #3 AWA ballot match http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xz08or_king-tonga-the-masked-superstar-sheik-adnan-al-kaissey-vs-sgt-slaughter-crusher-blackwell-awa_sport?search_algo=2
  23. They could have spent a few months building it up like they did Ryback. That was pretty effective until they messed it up.
  24. Submitted for your approval: Jim Duggan pantomiming Voodoo. In his right hand is an imaginary skull, by the way. Directly followed by Duggan laughing at his own joke.
