  1. Not familiar with him but I'll have to look his stuff up. I was joking around before, but the guy actually really does have a pro wrestling look if I've ever seen one.
  2. Captain Lou looks great in HHH's old jacket
  3. I agree with you about Cole on the E:60 doc for sure, Caley. It really showed him in a different light. The interesting thing about Cole is that, despite the fact it was earlier in his career with WWE, he was so much better back when he was sitting in for JR in 1998 when he was sick. Now, whether that's a matter of being less produced/scripted, having less Vince etc. in his ear, or just having a hotter product, I can't say. But listening to him call Foley's first title win in Worcester, MA vs. listening to him on the average Raw for the last few years, there's no question. It was nice to have him somewhat back to that announcing style during the Japan PPV on the 4th. I feel terrible for shitting on the guy's work as much as I do, but it's just so, so very bad sometimes. One of these days I hope he just throws the headset down and goes into "Listen, fuckhead" mode on live television.
  4. I agree with you. I think I might have misunderstood your earlier post
  5. I'm not so sure about that. Partly because I thought he DID have Bischoff in his ear at least part of the time feeding him lines (most notably the Cactus Jack butts in seats line from 1/4/99) and partly because I really didn't mind Bischoff himself when he called the early years of Nitro.
  6. Definitely was, but it still seems less obvious than with today's Raw crew. Just my two cents.
  7. I'd take "the greatest night in the history of our sport" over obviously forced excitement any day of the damn week, especially Mondays.
  8. Not really Network related per se, but gotta love Fatu coming to the ring in a BSK hat at IYH 4. I never saw them reference themselves on TV as blatantly as the Kliq or at least never noticed until this
  9. From what I understand (tromataker has been to the tapings, so if I'm wrong perhaps he can correct me) it's a 20 x 20 WWE sized ring, it just looks massive in that building
  10. Its crazy to me that Sheamus has only been around since 2009. Even with his new look and heel turn he just feels so stale. And I like his ring work for the most part. I just think he should be in a tag team for a while or something.
  11. The problem with doing more of these is that the more they do, and the more popular they become, the more they'll start to resemble the main TV shows.
  12. Jericho looked better than late 90s Flair for sure. I do think going back to the long tights would help him stand out more though. I thought he and Neville had a great match, but I'm a sucker for young upstart vs wily veteran psychology
  13. I'm into October 1995 Raw (trying to catch up to where I am with Nitro before more get put up, hopefully soon) and I have to say, I am loving the shit out of this faux-Van Halen "Right Now" piano music during hype videos for the following week. It almost makes Alundra Blayze vs Bertha Faye sound appetizing EDIT: OHHH this is the week where Shawn calls in after the "unprovoked attack outside a Syracuse nightclub by some ten individuals"
  14. I'm re-watching 1995 and am going to get to Goldust's debut pretty soon I think. I haven't seen any of this stuff since it aired when I was a kid, so it should be interesting to see how much of the innuendo I missed at the time
  15. I think Vince's death is going to affect the entire wrestling world in one way or another. Of course, I think his mother is still alive at 90-something so he could easily outlive a lot of people, myself included
  16. What's the general concensus here on the Mania 21 match with Michaels? I absolutely loved it at the time but I haven't seen it since it aired live.
  17. So much Mama's Family, dude. So much.
  18. Twiztor I'm with you 100% on all that, even the Worldwide set. What was great was that Worldwide aired at 2 AM here, so I could catch it right after ECW on MSG at 1. If I fell asleep, it was on the following Sunday afternoon on another station. Which really helped whet my appetite for Pro. I know Superstars and Main Event are still a thing, but C Shows just aren't the same without shitty Universal Studios/Disney crowds (cue Impact jokes) and weird WCW matches like Chris Adams v Konnan or Macho Man vs Silver King (not sure either really happened just throwing out examples). I have to check the C Show thread tonight when I get home and see some shit
  19. I think my WCW fandom was a big reason why I was sad to see the WWE and WHC unified. The big gold belt was the last physical vestige of WCW, even if the last couple versions looked less than stellar. Its funny, but I even miss shitty, dying WCW. Sure, we have TNA to laugh at, but Its not the same
  20. Have we explored the possibility possibility that Brock just thinks Kofi is Shelton Benjamin, and everyone is too afraid to correct him?
  21. I usually don't diva-creep but I God damn love Blue Pants. This was not a good show.
  22. I saw Bob Ryder saying something about a couple of them on Twitter, something to the effect that he has no idea why people would say they're gone from TNA when they have months left on their deals. I thought to myself, NO ONE is this deluded. It has to be an angle.
  23. I gotta say, I really actually miss Ziggler's little stable with Big E and AJ. I thought they had an interesting chemistry.
