  1. Something needs to be done about show length at the big 5 events. Show time from first bell to the end of the men's Rumble was over 6 hours. It's really hard to judge people's reactions to things live at the end of a show that people had spent over half their day at already. I dropped in and out of the show - what I caught was mostly inoffensive outside of the first third to half of the women's Rumble (I'm sick to death of the parkour spots to avoid elimination, so I did enjoy Mandy Rose blasting Naomi into orbit after trying it) and enjoyed the closing stretch of the Rumble. Both women's title matches were great. It's incredible how much more believable and sincere this face Miz run is vs. the Flair-backed run... I still expect him to turn, but if he doesn't? I'd still buy it. Both men's title matches were pretty good. Styles and Bryan work a style together that is so Southern and different than the typical WWE presentation which is rough for crowd reactions and got no favors from being in a death spot after the Rumble. Brock and Balor had a very different Brock match than usual that played up to Balor's strengths as a face and brought intrigue to a match with a foregone conclusion. I was done after it, though, and don't really have interest in catching the men's Rumble. Good show, just about 41 hours too long.
  2. So the Gargano/Ricochet match was pretty much everything I hate about modern wrestling. Tons of choreographed spots with no time to breathe. I will give them this - everything looked really good, which is hard for matches like this. If there's a slipup, it's usually really easy for folks to fall off script and make things look terrible. That style of match isn't for me though. Which is fine, because the rest of the card was right up my alley. It's kinda ridiculous what Hanson and Rowe can do in the ring and O'Reilly and Strong are perfect foils for it. Riddle/Ohno was really good. Baszler/Belair was incredible for the limited experience both women have. And Ciampa's just so ridiculously good right now.
  3. They literally have nothing to do with one another. Holy shit. No one is going to call their buddy and tell them to tune into an Elias/KO talking segment, no matter how good it is. Wrestling hasn't been that kind of viewing in 20 years.
  4. Seattle fans haven't seen someone dunk on something that hard since.. well, you know. I remember when I hated Elias. I was dumb, everyone else was smart.
  5. If the Cena/Taker rumors are dead, it's gotta be a near lock that Elias pins Cena in this with a handful of jorts, right?
  6. HERE COMES THE SLEDGE... HERE COMES THE CUDGEL...
  7. I'm glad we're getting small aspects of Southpaw Regional Wrestling on SD. The Bludgeon Brothers are straight out of the 80s.
  8. When @Greggulator is only optimistic about one match on a show, you know that show was shit.
  9. A show full of promising matches ruined by shitty stipulations (Why are you counting DQs and COs in a submission match? Why isn't the main event an elimination match? How dumb are tag cage rules?) and the seeming Spirit Squad level burial of Bayley... whew. At least The Miz is here to save Raw. MIZ BLESS US EVERYONE
  10. For the record, Baron Corbin is awesome and just needs a shirt.
  11. The tag division is so weak in NXT right now. I hope they can find a couple gems in this tournament.
  12. I agree. Cancel all the Raw PPVs and just run SD's.
  13. Tozawa might have suggested the Paradise Lock spot since he would have spent a fair amount of time around Milano Collection AT in Dragon Gate a decade ago. It went a little long. Nese seems like a poor man's Neville, and some time in the PC could help him learn the things that Neville learned (and then seemingly forgot once he got called up) in terms of match pacing and restraint. If I never saw Hoho Lun and Noam Dar again, I'd be a better person.
  14. Watching Gargano try to do comedy is like watching Disco Inferno.
  15. It's very interesting that the Bollywood Boys were the only losers covered with a video package in the Bracketology special, which I presume was taped after the first round was actually finished. The Dar/'Gurv match was actively bad, with them not meshing at all and Dar's character work not getting over. (Someone calling themselves the Special Wan should be heeling it up, ferchrissakes.) Harv looked alright against Drew Gulak, but got the least amount of offense in of any of the losers in the tournament, and had what felt like the shortest match. It felt like their time should have gone to Raul Mendoza and Fabian Aichner instead.
  16. "WHICH ONE'S MURPHY?" "WHICH ONE'S SLAVE?"
  17. They were in a vignette on Raw talking about the massive reaction to their debut last week. It was really funny until you realized those are human beings behind those facades.
  18. I was just here blissfully pretending that show doesn't exist.
  19. USA has had a bunch of stinker shows since 2014, plus Royal Pains is wrapping up, Suits can't be far behind, Covert Affairs has ended since then... it's pretty lean at USA for hits other than Mr. Robot.
  20. I forget which Rumble it was that had Road Dogg just clinging to the bottom turnbuckle for like 10 minutes of his time in the match, only to rush over and help someone get eliminated, then back to the corner. I was dying laughing whenever the camera would go to him.
