He was involved in the Brock suspension angle on Friday and teased out a potential future match on IG later.

And Brock trying to outpower Cesaro for 10-12 minutes would be the bee's knees.

Good. That's a match that has eluded us for nearly a decade now. It's about time those two would get it on!

She's not Cesaro, but it feels a bit Cesaro Section-ish. She manages to get across that she enjoys what she does, and she is a lot of fun to watch be ragdolled. With that said, I haven't really understood what her post-Riott Squad look is supposed to tell us about who she is.

Speaking of, WHERE is Cesaro, btw? I don't recall anything since the Rollins and Reigns matches. Not the shoulder again?

This is my exact opinion.  Any match that has a top rope brainbuster should end with the top rope brainbuster.  What the fuck else can you do to stop someone that gets up from a top rope brainbuster?  Unless you stab them, shoot them, or use some sort of improvised explosive, I'm not going to buy it.

Aside from the mentioned methods, If a top rope brainbuster wouldn't work, I'd probably go for the 'nads and then, if that didn't work, I'd just run away.

Hey, @The NaturalI know you've been through a lot and you seem like a really incredible guy.  So after talking about it with some on Discord I got you a Cameo from a special somebody and hope this finds you well.  Special thanks to @Craig H and @Sammo~!for helping contribute, really appreciate that.

What a wonderful thing to do! Great way to show that there are ways to use modern techonology for nice things! You are good people, for organizing this. You can also tell that it was greatly appreciated, so excellent work, guys!

Will Hobbs is really good. It’s a bummer they had him lose another big match, especially to a guy whose gimmick I think is starting to get a little tiresome. Maybe it’s just me but it doesn’t sound like he’s as over as he once was.

Anna Jay vs Britt Baker was okay. Jay’s strikes are terrible but I saw she just had her 20th match a couple of weeks ago, so it’s crazy she’s as good at the things she is good at and has time to improve.

Andrade vs Pac was even better than the first match, very awesome and worth the time.

Anyone who knows anything about me, knows that I think PAC is the F'n man! If this match was as good or better than the first one, then it's a F'n keeper! I need to see more AEW, stat!

Contract issues notwithstanding, you have more teams with a win now mentality especially if they're on the cusp of actually doing something. Dak was in his mid 20s, and there was still no guarantee Stephen and Jerry Jones wouldn't go after another QB.

Moreover, when it comes to pro wrestlers...the guys we're talking about were good enough to get through high school, college, go to the league and THEN get hurt. If you're somewhat washed and get hurt, you might have some type of safety net of a desperate franchise picking you up (see RG3). Without the possible options of the CFL or Arena Football or some other fly by night startup (or the Big 3 or some of the other leagues you see late at night on ESPN2 if you're a basketball player), what options do you have as someone who was just solid to just slightly above average? Pro wrestling seems to be the best vehicle to make money especially if you're somewhat charismatic.

This is about 100% true for American athletes and would-be athletes, but how about their European counterparts? Charisma is totally a thing! If it's not, please explain Ludivg Borga!

    Yeah

And also that's maybe the only time the Watts episodic booking legend was evident in WCW, already setting the stage for the split immediately after they won the belts. Just damn great wrestling and storytelling.

I will now once again cry that we never got the proper Dustin/Barry feud

In hindsight, it is really weird we never did get a full-blown feud between the two, but the fact that both guys had different singles titles at the same time by early next year just pushed them into different directions. "Yeah, I hate you and will take every opportunity to beat you up in tag team matches, but this title is still the most important thing to me right now!"

Now I think that missing out on Dustin/Barry vs The Steiners for the tag team titiles makes me want to cry, too!

Dragunov/A-Kid was a war. Good fucking shit. Helped to have some fans in there too.

That sure was bad-ass! This week, Coffey vs Devlin rematch was some intense stuff as well. Obviously, that match may as well be for the No.1 contendership.

Trying to figure if von and Kyle were looking for for Brian laundrie or skunk ape/florida bigfoot.

Man, creeds and imperium beating the fudge out of each other was fun.

Jiro, why are you dumping a man's luggage our of the floor of a men's room.

Also will be very disappointed if Bron does not have a confrontation with chucky.

Von and Kyle were looking for Von's mom, obviously!

  10. I'll go and post this now and edit the bench in later. Only two workouts so far, but Monday had some extra cardio, as I walked to work since my bike was in the shop. It took longer than I expected to make it in to the gym, so I had to squeeze in everything inside an hour. The pull-up, dip, reverse-shrug medley started with 88 lbs this week (which seems to be too much for everything but the shrugs). 10 rounds in total with 3 rounds of 88, then dropping until 11 lbs again. To conserve time, I did chest flies, lat pull downs and pushdowns with the resistance bands as a giant set as well, going 3 rounds in total. Then some abs.

Tuesday was trapbar. Arrived a bit late, again, as my co-worker was already at 385 when I arrived. So, warm-up was rather brief. I did 5x140, 5x275, 5x385 ( without Versas), then 5×430, 5×451, 5 and 4x473, 5x451 and 5x385. After that it was shrugs all the way to hell. And abs. My legs were F'n killing me during the evening shift, but I stretched the shit out of them during and by the time I headed home, they felt good. Yesterday, riding the bike to work was also relatively painless (despite the wind and rain) so it really did help.

I just had a huge meal of pasta with ground beef, chicken, vegetables and oven baked sweet potato and once that has had some time to settle, I'll head for the bench day. Due to maintenance, I'll have an extra day off from work tomorrow, so this is it for working out, as well.

...No record weights on the bench this week, but due to a calculation error, it actually went better than I originally thought. At 220, I thought I only had 198 on and added 55 lbs, when I was supposed to add 33. Math is hard. So, it went like this: 3x154, 5x220 5x275 (at this point I thought I was doing 5x253, so I was like, this is not easy), then 3x291 (thinking it was 270 and was like, I'm fucked), then two partials with 297, thinking it was 275 and thinking that's it, no point trying anything heavier.

At this point my co-worker started his sets so we took a bunch of weight out. During this time, I did 3 sets of 5 with 198 on the lat pull down machine, but couldn't get it all the way to the chest. Went back to bench and did 2x3x264, at this point I realized my mistake and was no longer so forlorn about the previous sets. I went and did 7x264 before we scaled back. 10x242 plus two ugly partials, then 14x220 and 22x154. I did some curls again this with the pair of 33's and 55's. Ab work for the finish and better luck next week.

  11. Look, I don't wish for the team to break up, lose the titles and feud with each other, but something has to happen to Io and Stark so that Stark has a reason to have singles matches again! Until that happens, we are no closer to the eventual clash between Ivy Nile and Zoe Stark! And with that, see you next week!

...but that Jacy Jayne dive to the outside looked like me attempting to dive headfirst into a swimming pool, Jesus! I hope she's alive!

Concrete Floor: I need to Facetime you real quick, m'kay! Thanks!

I had an MRI of my brain a year or so ago and was told said brain was completely normal. So I get where you're coming from. I was unprepared to hear that. Yours is better, though.

And there would have been an appropriate Young Frankenstein clip to accompany this comment, as well!

Damn, I had never heard of Frank Andersson but he looks awesome.  All kings of cool suplexes and amateur wrestling shit, plus super agile.

Andersson was in WCW for a bit back in '94, but I never saw his matches there, only read about him in WCW magazine. I did see a couple of his matches from NJPW. Those were tag matches. It would have been cool to see him face Tony Halme over there, but I'm not at all sure if they were even on the roster at same time for that to happen. What I saw was decent, but judging by the hype and photos from the magazine, I was expecting more from him. These clips are better that what I seem to recall.

    Thoughts on WrestleWar 92

Terrance Taylor and Greg Valentine acted like two singles wrestlers, and it's a wonder they held the US tag team belts, which they dropped here to the Freebirds.

Scotty Flamingo beat Marcus Bagwell to move into contention for the light heavyweight title. Later, Tom Zenk challenged Brian Pillman for the title. You would think, "aren't they a little too big?" But the weight limit was 235 pounds!

Speaking of Zenk-Pillman, Jesse Ventura was begging them to lose their cool and cheat. They lost their cool, but neither of them cheated.

Junkyard Dog didn't make it to the ring to team with Ron Simmons against Cactus Jack and Mr. Hughes due to a prematch attack. Instead of competing in a handicap match, Simmons just faced Hughes in a singles match. It was the reverse of the ECW and later WWE trope of singles matches morphing into tag team bouts.

The Steiners battered Tatusumi Fujinami & Takayuki Iizuka to become the top contenders to the New Japan belts. Rick and Scott were arguable more suited to the Japanese style than the American style of wrestling, like Steve Williams & Terry Gordy.

Sting is the MVP, as he led his Squadron to beat the Dangerous Alliance in War Games, which was all action and included buckets of blood. Even though he held the World title, he convinced Nikita Koloff to stick with him. Nikita would have certainly gotten his long awaited World title shot if he had lowered the boom on Sting. Larry Zbyszko tried to lower the boom on Sting with the turnbuckle bolt, but Sting moved out of the way and Bobby Eaton got blasted instead.

I like the idea of Valentine & Taylor as a tag team, but as I've mentioned before on the pictures thread, it was a huge dissapointment to me that Taylor wasn't wearing robes at this point, so they indeed ended up looking nothing like a tag team, much less like champions. Many of the WCW PPV's of this era open with a Freebirds match and thusly I usually fall asleep during the opener and end up missing most of the good stuff.

The main event shows the tremendeous depth of the face side roster, as you have 5 guys who you could have challenge for any title at any time, and you can see that Dangerous Alliance can hang with them until it's time to send Eaton and Larry in. As good as those guys were, they ended up being no match for the top guys, once the sides evened up.

The level of talent in the main event is crazy, but it shows on the undercard, as there are matches that may not have made the card had not most of the main eventers not been jammed into one match.
