  1. I also just realized we glossed over the most important people to make it on Forbidden Door...
  2. Add Tana winning the AEW Title so we can have an NJPW rep as AEW Champ and an AEW rep as NJPW champ. 2022 is gonna go bonkers!
  3. I know he's in the tag match that'll have storyline ramifications down the line, but with the year he's having - give Dax ZSJ at Forbidden Door. I'd love to see the real best wrestler in the world right now get his hands on Sabre.
  4. Dudes With Attitudes? They had Los Stingobernables de AEW right there...
  5. Is Eddie Kingston the real "from undesirable to undeniable" guy? Cause I'm beginning to think so.
  6. I'm going to get the show regardless, but I do question how often they plan on doing these types of events with NJPW. If they are only doing one a year, I do feel like you are leaving quite a bit on the bone here. Bryan/ZSJ would absolve all of this for me, but I thought this would be more of a supershow of dream matches compared to what we have got. One of the lynch pins for all of this though is Kota Ibushi, because I think he offers the most to the BC/UE storyline from a NJPW guy. Surely Khan wants to get his hands on him at some point, could we see him make a surprise appearance at Forbidden Door? I don't know how his relationship is with NJPW at this point, but I can't imagine he would have quarrels with coming over here and doing some stuff.
  7. Fun question. Personally, I prefer the Attitude Era for the car crash style of matches that I remember as a child. 7/8 year old me was fascinated by Stephanie being abducted by the Undertaker and Dude Love doing that goofy dance with his legs. Shit, I can even remember a time when they would advertise WWF PPV's on the radio. But the 2002-2007 era was where I feel I actually learned what wrestling was (backstage politics, appreciating the in-ring product more) and got to enjoy it with my friends who were a little bit older as well. I guess you could say my fandom is split into pre-smark and post-smark.
  8. Gimme dad mode Penta right now
  9. Ratings are something that are super interesting because of the different amount of ways we consume our programming now. Twitter allows you to basically follow a show without having to watch it live. YouTube lets you see any highlights you may have missed. There's a litany of websites out there that stream the shows illegally and how many people watch through those means? And that's without me mentioning podcasts or review shows. I'd love nothing more than for ratings to be a 6.0 and have millions and millions watching these shows. But with how much more accessible all of the content is now compared to the late 90's/early 00's - I doubt we will ever see ratings come even close to that again. This isn't football or basketball where you NEED to watch it live. You miss an episode of RAW or AEW? You can just catch up on YouTube cause you've ALWAYS got next weeks show to look forward to. No offseason.
  10. You all thought Cody's endgame was being AEW or RoH booker? Well have I got news for you.
  11. Prichard probably got him to try some Blue Chew
  12. / That's that Team Taz dining right there. Edit - This will now turn into an appreciation post for Powerhouse Hobbs. My god what a transformation.
  13. I think the rationale is that (and I could be wrong) they're going to build to FTR/Bucks 3 at All Out with all the tag titles on the line. IWGP, RoH, AEW, maybe AAA and have that be their ultimate coup de gras. The Bucks were always going to win tonights match, with or without the Hardys.
  14. Give Team Taz another shot!
  15. When did they rename the Big Bang Theory to the Friday Night Fever? I'm assuming this is part of her transition, but I wouldn't have minded if they kept the name as a nod to her old gimmick ala The Pedigree with Greenwhich snob Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
  16. A.... what?!
  17. Somebody I wasn't that familiar with til recently, but have become a huge fan of is Mike Bailey. I love how crisp his strikes are and would love to see him get a shot on a stage like AEW, WWE, or even NJPW. Having read up on him, it's disappointing he had five of what could of been his real money making years stripped from him. He would have been an awesome guy to have on board for AEW when they launched back in 2019. For some reason, he reminds me of a more serious, better Steve Blackman, and that's not a knock on Blackman cause I love his work - but Bailey seems like a guy who could see a higher ceiling than just the X-Division title.
  18. That is the story going around - however Tony did have that tweet a few days before DoN last week about a great meeting with WB executives. I know this may be an absolute long shot, but I really wouldn't be surprised if he got them in on it as well. This all feels like a "work the dirt sheets" angle the more it materializes.
  19. Completely skipped my mind, good call.
  20. Last I knew which was like a week ago, Wardlow was #1 - so when I heard Mox was #1 I was confused. I get it being "random" though. You're not gonna build to Wardlow vs. Tanahashi and I doubt they want him eating a fall to battle royal winner Moxley either. It put them in a tough position and I guess they figured the best course was to put Mox at 1. But then again, the whole Wardlow storyline makes it weird. Should he be ranked #1 the day after "signing" in Kayfabe? I dont think Wardlow has ever seen a T5, but it does make me wonder what their plan was with him (maybe a TNT title shot vs World title shot).
  21. Think about what putting the title on Tanahashi could mean for the dichotomy of AEW. Not only do they openly acknowledge other promotions, but they welcome that top tier talent to compete for their World title. That's a TRUE World championship in every definition of the wotd. A win by Tanahashi establishes that there is other world class wrestlers out there on the same level as AEW - while bolstering your belts lineage and the bonus of anything can truly happen. "I want the belt held by the best. Jericho, Moxley, Omega, Tanahashi, Punk, Hangman..." it does add to that credibility and prestige in my opinion. Edit - Maybe if Tana won the belt, NJPW would consider replacing him with an AEW guy in the G1? Danielson? MJF as punishment for his "I don't watch New Japan" line? Could do so much fun stuff in NJPW is willing to play along (I'd hope since AEW would be putting their World title on a New Japan talent)
  22. So I was thinking today, what's the likelihood that Tanahashi wins the belt at Forbidden Door and holds it before a title unification match at All Out in Chicago with Punk? Toss some more goodwill towards NJPW while strengthening the lineage of the AEW World Title, but only at the expense of an "interm" title in the process. My dream scenario would be Kingston winning the battle royal and holding the title til All Out, but since Punk will be the champ, and it'll be in Chicago - there's no way you book Eddie in that spot.
