  1. My thoughts after Cody winning the Rumble, are that maybe we get Reigns/Rhodes/Rock at Mania, Rock doesnt have to work the whole match, can rest and give Rhodes and Reigns a majority of the spotlight. That way Reigns can pin Rock, Rhodes doesnt take the pinfall and Rhodes gets an extended story where he finally gets a one on one rematch with Reigns in Saudi or somewhere down the line. Thats just where my brain goes, but reality may be that Rock has no interest in wrestling at Mania.
  2. I'm not sure if it was mentioned here, but Nic Nemeth released a video just prior to this debut in NJPW, called "Wanted Man" where he goes full Jack Burton and it's tremendous cheese.
  3. Stephen Amell vs Antony Starr in a Bullrope Match. Kidding aside, I do feel that if Cody is removed from the Roman title match, he needs to pivot to something that continues the Story (more Brock, less Nakamura). Would Dustin be back in WWE by then?
  4. So, taking from Bully Ray a little here for a second, before Cody Rhodes finishes the story, the chapter of Legacy must be completed by slaying The Viper, the very jacked Viper? Philly is a notoriously ruthless crowd, if they run Rhodes-Reigns II, it wouldnt shock me that the crowd (which would be from all over the world, but philly would be represented strong here) would boo Cody and cheer Reigns. So instead you get The Rock/Reigns with the crowd cheering Roman, Roman besting Hogans streak as Champion, Punk/Rollins, Orton/Rhodes, The Usos Collide, The Beast vs The Ring General, maybe Bad Bunny and AJ Styles. I think that is a helluva stacked lineup for the Showcase, and that Rhodes To The Top documentary becomes a 3 hour epic and finishes at WrestleMania 41 (Or The Bash for Dusty or SummerSlam). That takes a lot of patience to pull off, and would that feel like too long of a wait?
  5. MJF is Baggins, holder of the 'ring', and Adam Cole is Samwise Gamgee with Samoa Joe as a cross between Boromir and Aragorn. The Eye of Sauron is 'The Devil'.
  6. That just got me thinking of a fun gimmick, where a wrestlers match keeps getting bumped for time (think Jimmy Kimmel always bumping Matt Damons appearance on his show to next week) complete with backstage footage of his reaction to getting his match moved as he was preparing to go out to the ring. The wrestler gets more and more frustrated, until he runs in on a match and attacks both competitors and stages a sit-in until he gets some respect.
  7. Noticed a subtle hint that The Devil could be none other than TK, with Calibur mentioning whoever the Devil is, had taken control of the lights and other equipment. Maybe to throw the scent off Bay Bay, and not saying it would be the best idea, but nerd billionaire you sets to shape wrestling in his image, surrounding himself with his "pillars" isnt the worst idea. Also, as of note, the Devil has not been involved in any attacks as far as I remember. TK is probably itching to bring back his character from those Impact wrestling segments from a couple years ago. He looked like he was having a lot of fun.
  8. I remember hearing the story from Bruce Prichards podcast about Cornette and Dunns back and forth. Just got a big chuckle out of that, thanks for reminding me.
  9. Bucky as in Pat Buck? Is this why Serena Deeb has vanished from AEW?
  10. And let us not forget, CM Punk is your "Real" Worlds Champion. Only person I can vision as his Bobby Heenan is Paul Heyman and he is taken. Punk coming out with a black bag with an obvious belt in it, would get a buzz pop for sure.
  11. I'm all for a Single White Female storyline between Mariah May and Toni Storm. Does May have the chops to out crazy Storm though? IMO, all logic of Adam Cole being the devil was thrown out after last nights match. Im sure there can be some way to tie it all in if I think deep enough, but it would be hard to buy. Not sure who you would go with aside from Cole. Maybe Ospreay, Christian or MJF himself if you want to get weird with it. My guess is they go with Jungle Boy and add a young crew of disgruntled guys and Anna Jay.
  12. Chris Hero returned to the ring a few days ago against Timothy Thatcher in California. I would say he is definitely respected by most in the AEW locker room.
  13. Im sure AEW can cut a 22 minute opening match and a 35 minute main event to incorporate some control center segment with a card run down from Schiavone. It may seem antiquated to some or nostalgic to a few of us that appreciated that when we were younger, but itd go a long way in balancing out the action in the ring with progressing storylines and keeping general interest. Then when Renee Paquette is doing backstage segments, it doesnt have to seem so repetitive (like one pre tape promo back to back) when during the card run down, wrestlers can cut quick promos ala the beginning of Collision. Also, more recaps! Audience viewing fluctuates, and it helps to stay up on what is happening from last week.
  14. I still watch those Control Centers on YT, the nostalgia is real and it also was a way to get people hyped for the show and get some segments to continue stories within a small window. I very much feel that Tony Khan would be very successful at running an independent wrestling promotion. However, his budget, choice of venues and tv deal make it hard to pull this idea of a mainstream indy fed off, because network wrestling needs to be compelling [and reel in more than internet fans/historians and marks], have something that hooks you and blend several different styles that are woven into storylines effectively. Trying to mainstream an indy style of wrestling is gutsy without bridging what casual wrestling fans consider wrestling into the mix, if that made any sense at all. I dont think its bad or good that he is trying to be PWG with a WCW budget, i believe its just not meshing, and hopefully he can find a way to make it go together. A good start is MJF being woven into the beginning, middle and end of the show, but there is room for 3 or 4 more compelling stories to be told throughout the 3 prime time shows to balance with the action.
  15. Okay, hear me out: Tony Khan is revealed as The Devil. ("It's me Austin.. er.. Friedman!") He lets everyone know he was afraid for his life so he had to let that "one guy" go, not because of what that guy would do, but what he would do. And that this company needs Order and he introduces the Tony Khan Order (T.K.O) introducing the other guys under the masks (The Elite maybe?) MJF then spends the better part of the year fighting against TK and his Elitist group until a mysterious financial backer from Warner Media shows up to re-sign MJF and shift the balance of power... GOLDBERG! This is satirical mind you, but given the historical significance here, its plausible in tying up what happened with TK and MJF during Double or Nothing 2022. Editors note: meant to post this in the TV thread above this where it was more on topic, but it was early and i was on a ladder.
  16. Random thought popped into my head watching the AEW and thinking how they can differentiate their Womens product, as well as inject some lifeblood into it. What if they had a female color commentator come on during the womens match (or even transition to an all lady commentators table?) Thinking back to the Monday Nitro days, when WCW brought in cruiserweights for matches, Mike Tenay added a certain dynamic to commentary to not only get us up to speed on the history of the wrestlers but also the moves and origins, etc. Without much deeper emphasis put on it other than the initial thought, i figured i would run it by you all to get your opinions and who you would choose to commentate (Renee Moxley is there of course, but other than that).
  17. That was a tag team match Meltzer would have a hard time not giving Five Stars based on his CVV interview. They had the crowd, they built to a climax that wasn't very predictable, just wow. Once you heard "5 Minutes" remaining, you just knew they would go with the time limit draw, but they swerved us with a clean finish. I'm starting to get Brian Pillman vibes from Juice Robinson, it was subtle at first, and I'm getting more of a vibe the more I see him. Ricky Starks is waaaay better as a heel imo, and planting the seeds for him eventually returning to his roots was well done against CM Punk, who is as polarizing as ever. Punk with the right move, he did not need this Owen Cup, and Starks absolutely needed it.
  18. Very good point, and emphasis on it being a crowd that would cheer no matter what was going on. Decisions that have been made for Wardlow, have not only devalued his momentum, but also the TNT Title. If they cannot figure out how to keep him dominant and interesting as a champion, then move him along, because he's been punked out and played by Powerhouse Hobbs, Samoa Joe, and Luchasaurus, and it hasn't made him look like a War Machine.
  19. JRFK Jr doing the main event commentary?!? (No offense RFK jr. fans) All kidding aside, this show was different than anything that's been put out thus far. Totally felt like a different company in many ways. From the commentary team to the stage, to even this new (old) World Title (HBK/Razor call back), which should likely end in a ladder match with both belts hanging above in the rafters before the end of the year, I'd assume. Wondering how long we will get the face Andrade and Miro before they go into their likely roles as heels, it will be interesting to see how they play this out. Would have loved Mauro Rinallo for this show, as this seems like a perfect pairing for him, but I understand his limitations. CM Punk looked like the only return star that exhibited rust, and rightfully so. Andrade and Miro showed fire tonight, and seemingly didn't miss a step. CM Punk has a long road ahead of him, and needs to play things safe. Confident that a match with Jay White and Samoa Joe, respectfully (and seperately) could steal shows. Still believe if it could have been possible, a Kenny Omega/CM Punk showdown to end the show, or even a Kenta/CM Punk staredown, would have left so much to be desired and talked about, but I understand there could be elements holding both of those back (and I'm being very diplomatic and careful with my wording here). Good start to Collision, let's see if the momentum continues.
  20. If Sasha Banks walks through the "forbidden door" (aew specifically), I see the only feud that could generate any media attention, being with Jade Cargill. I know she holds the secondary women's title in the TBS title, and im sure matches with Thunder Rosa and Jamie Hayter would be great, but as far as coverage, wouldnt the "money" match, be "Dat Bish" vs "The Boss (bish)" ?
  21. It is nitpicking admittedly, but FTR are being called the greatest tag team in wrestling and are missing AEW tag team gold. They backed themselves into a corner a bit.
  22. Apologies if this has already been said. Just finished the show and this is stream of conscious. Props to Ricky Starks for standing toe to toe with MJF on the mic, that is some feat. He did have home field advantage and imo, he needs a catch phrase, because he tapered off at the end there, but i was hyped and smiling from this energy. Using Darby Allin to get Wardlow over is decent, although they took too long. Joe should have kept the clutch on, and when refs couldnt pry him off, that is when Wardlow runs down. Jon Moxley def no sold Regals write off and is a better man for that. He moved it along, but i found it weird Danielson was left out of this. The more i see Jade, the more i go "her perfect opponent is Mercedes Varnado", and i just dont see someone like that currently employed by AEW. Although, i dont believe her streak should be snapped by a WWE castoff. Miro returns to beat Orange Cassidy? Hm. Final Battle saved by FTR/Briscoes III, but why do i feel like this is the beginning of the end for FTR in AEW, and they are following Willy Reegs? Acclaimed should NOT have lost, but FTR needed the win to cement their year. Their loss told me a lot, unfortunately.
  23. So, i cant help but think we get Mercedes Banks (sasha banks) for William Regal after tonights developments. With Bow Wow aggravating Jade, with his history with Snoop, what a pop it would be if Mercedes came out to challenge. And it definitely seemed like a permanent write-off for Regal tonight, but we shall see.
  24. Really thought I was being worked, but I will fall on my sword with this one. I was just really looking forward to the OG Elite vs CM Punk, Ace Steel, Danny Dominion, and Kevin Quinn
