  1. Watch when Big Show hits Rowan with the stairs at the end of their match. Show drops the stairs and they bounce back and hit Rowan in the head HARD. Also, I like Rowan, so don't everybody get negative on him.
  2. I loved the "We know it's Hornswoggle" sign. YIKES on that big bump on Rowan's head! Also, Paul Heyman is amazing. AMAZING. He makes me SO want to see Brock kill most of the locker room in that proposed handicap gauntlet match.
  3. Wyatt was more hurt than I ever saw him before when Ambrose broke his rocking chair. But he can forgive Ambrose maybe because they're cast from the same mold and whatnot? After all, Shield leaders and world eaters have many likes alike.
  4. Anyone shit-talking on Ambrose's hot dog cart attack needs to remember that once a terrific and extremely popular pro-wrestler drove a truck to the ring and used an attached hose to spray beer all over his enemies. Or is that considered shit now too? I don't know. Ambrose is the BEST and smartest and coolest and most handsome dude and he needs to be IN THAT DAMNED CELL with Rollins, and I'm sorry to Cena, but Ambrose needs to close this chapter and destroy Rollins in THE DEVIL'S STRUCTURE.. Cena can have Rollins at Survivor Series instead. Rock caught me completely by surprised and left me stunned for several minutes from the moment I heard "If ya smell".
  5. I've had this theory for a while that THE SHIELD was analogous to the 1985 Transformers Seekers (the conehead ones). Ambrose is Dirge. He's the brains of the group. He's creepy, he's twisted, and he often dies BUT THAT'S OKAY because he'll be back in no time because he's never satisfied. He's brave unless someone is trying to cut his face off with a skill-saw (Energon saw?), in which case he hauls ass. After all, he prefers to be the hunter rather than the hunted, and he loves inflicting fear and pain on others. He secretly wants to be normal and fit in, be SOMEBODY, but he knows THEY will always be there to kick dirt on him and hold him down. He creeps Ramjet/Reigns out. Reigns is Ramjet. He doesn't need brains because he's a super tough juggernaut who crashes into everything. That's his thing. He crashes into everything and everyone. He's courageous and something of a loner. Believes himself to be the king of his realm. He also sometimes travels back in time to the middle ages. I don't know. May like toast (hope he doesn't set fire to Ambrose's apartment like Tozawa supposedly did). And, of course, Rollins is Thrust. He's dumb and cowardly, but he constantly talks about how he's superior to others. He's talented, but totally full of himself and gets in over his head constantly. He can usually be heard bragging, trash-talking, and announcing his victories before he's won. He'd possibly be the one of the trio people would remember least if not for his really cool-looking wing fans. You know those fans are cool. Now if the coneheads ever actually WON anything the way SHIELD did, it would be perfect.
  6. Cagliostro (my favorite Miyazaki film, funnily) wasn't Ghibli's, but might as well be, considering Miyazaki became nearly synonymous with the studio. My favorite Ghibli movie is Totoro, if anyone cares (NO ONE DOES). I'd glad they aren't closing, or I hope they won't close, or whatever. I'm unsure of what's happening here, but I would hate to lose such a bright light on the world of anime and animation in general, especially now that anime seems destined to continue sinking in the La Brea tar pit that is endless sister-con/teenage-titty show hell.
  7. Re: SimAnt: I also played the SNES one as a kid (I feared the spider!), and I remember it being pretty good, but the saving... THE ETERNAL SAVING. Life is too short for that, so PC is the way to go. Re: Final Fantasy VI and its strategy guide: That game is really the stuff legends are made of. No game collection is complete without it unless you somehow hate RPGs just that much. I went many years without playing it back in the day, because I played it via rental in 1994, when it was my first traditional RPG, but didn't own it until 2000. Six years is a long time to a kid (even though that time passes in a blink now that I'm old). I somehow had the guide despite this, and I used to study it constantly before going to sleep, preparing for when I'd play the game again. Next time I faced that Imperial Air Force, surely I'd win (especially if I'd, you know, actually buy weapons and armor...). Sad to learn years later that the guide is FILLED with errors, most of it being stuff the guide writer's just pulled out of their asses. But hey, I still have that tattered old guide and it's still cool nostalgia anyway, and the maps are great. I feared Shadow's first dream!
  8. Good show. Great Lashley/Aries match. I was like "Really? (duct tape)" when Lashley became champ (though understanding MVP was injured), but he's actually been a terrific champion so far and I'm surprised over how much he's improved in the ring. If TNA does go under, Lashley should be one of the guys WWE grabs (Aries too, if they don't overlook him for being small). EDIT: Assuming WWE is up for hiring anyone for above peanuts pay these days, anyway.
  9. Just appearing briefly to say the following four things: I liked the Cena promo and I like serious Cena. Cena/Cesaro was really good and perhaps their best match yet. WWE, please continue giving the divas so many simultaneous angles because I like it and I like the Stephanie/Brie angle. #1 priority is pleasing me and don't forget it. Which brings me to... NO Dean Ambrose on this show = (in Anise Tatlin voice) booooooo... *waits for Smackdown where Mox will no doubt own the place*
  10. I mentioned it because I had fun with it, but you're right. Out of this World/Another World is the sort of game one really needs to play elsewhere for a better port. Somewhat like comparing the NES Metal Gear to the superior MSX2 one. I want to add these side-scrolling beat-em-ups to the recommended list, because I neglected to mention enough of those and these are very good: Brawl Brothers King of Dragons And I didn't mention any puzzle games, so: Kirby's Avalanche (AKA Puyo Puyo) Tetris & Dr. Mario (in a single cart... assuming you don't play these elsewhere) Tetris Attack (AKA Panel de Pon) If it's your thing, the SNES has a nice port of SimCity as well.
  11. A few other recommendations: Kirby's Dream Course is a great and quirky pseudo golf game. Super Mario All-Stars is the first four Mario games on NES and FDS rebuilt for the SNES (and Super Mario Bros. 3 is still one of history's greatest games). ActRaiser 2 is the sequel to ActRaiser. Hard to go wrong with Quintet, but it does have a reputation for being difficult and awkward to play compared to the first ActRaiser, plus it's missing the simulation stuff. Still good to go with if you like your action rough. Mega Man 7 is one of the weaker Mega Man games on NES or SNES, but I'm a major Mega Man fan and want to give it a nod anyway. It's still fun if you're into Mega Man like me. Rockman & Forte (Mega Man & Bass) is good Mega Man (and Bass) action, but only released in Japan on SNES. You don't necessarily need to be able to read the limited text in this one if you don't want to get a flash cart to play it. However, to play a Japanese cartridge, you'd need to permanently modify the SNES (not a big deal; you only remove some plastic) or use a pass-through like the Game Genie. Donkey Kong Country 3 - Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! is, of course, the third DKC game. It has a reputation for being lesser than the first two, and that is true in a lot of ways, but it is still good fun and I defend it from time to time. Terranigma is another Quintet game and is somewhat similar to Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. Because it was only released in Japan and Europe, you'd need a flash cart and an NTSC patch to run it on an American SNES (or a flash cart and the Japanese cart, if you don't mind playing it in Japanese). One of the best games to be missed by USA. Out of this World is a great experimental and cinematic game with realistic physics. The SNES port has some speed issues, but I enjoyed it. It can be plenty hard, but it has a lot of checkpoints and unlimited lives to help you with that. Flashback - The Quest for Identity is from the makers of Out of this World and is similar in a lot of ways. It's also fun as long as you don't set the game to hard mode (unless a game with sparse checkpoints and swarms of enemies who can hit you easily is your thing, of course). Super Mario Kart, Biker Mice from Mars, and Rock n' Roll Racing are your best bets for racing games. Final Fantasy II (IV in Japan) is a good Final Fantasy game, but I've always found FFVI far better. If you're into RPGs, this is a good one. Final Fantasy V: Ditto on the above. This one is shallow on story but has an interesting job system. Flash cart with a translation patch for this one, as it's a Japanese only release on the SNES. I'm not much for fighting games, but the SNES has very good adaptations of: Killer Instinct Mortal Kombat II Mortal Kombat 3 Street Fighter II/Street Fighter II Turbo/Super Street Fighter II My input on Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 2 is that they're fun games, but very unforgiving due to the hard difficulty combined with a limited supply of lives/continues. I've beaten 400+ games, but the EJ games aren't among them. Your enjoyment might hinge on how you handle games that can and will send you back to the game's beginning for not being awesome enough. I've heard good things about the Lufia games, but I've yet to play them. The SNES really is a gold mine of great games.
  12. DKC2 IS on the list at #68. I forgot about Lost Vikings! That's a great game, too. That list includes Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt, though. As someone who has beaten that horror, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but for a masochistic challenge. It's pretty bad. This all makes me so excited for the SNES! I need to go back to my file in Robotrek. That seems like a fun one, too, but I need to put more time in. Quintet were awesome.
  13. Who are those people I didn't know existed? I've beaten that game literally several dozen times. It's too easy, sure, but difficulty doesn't always rule. Even game masters like me like to unwind with a simple game sometimes, and Kirby Super Star might be the all-time best game for such a thing. Great two-player mode, too.
  14. I'll disagree on the idea of the village building portion of ActRaiser dragging. That stuff is so much fun! Relaxing, too. It's great to be able to have a break from the combat for a bit. I'll second Aladdin being fun, if a bit too easy (but Kirby Super Star and Super Mario RPG are too easy, too). If one wants a super challenge, then I recommend Super Ghouls'n Ghosts. I've beaten it (on easy mode, anyway), but a lot of people can't seem to make it past the first or second levels.
  15. The SNES is simply the best video game console ever made. It's hard to pick just a handful of games. The two you have are a great start, though. My pick for the three greatest games ever (for any system) are probably these SNES games: EarthBound Final Fantasy III (actually VI in Japan) ActRaiser Other favorites: Chrono Trigger Demon's Crest Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest Kirby Super Star Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past Mega Man X Mega Man X2 Mega Man X3 Secret of Mana Shadowrun Soul Blazer Super Adventure Island II Super Castlevania IV Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island Super Metroid Young Merlin Other great games that someone might overlook: E.V.O. - Search for Eden Goof Troop Illusion of Gaia Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse Secret of Evermore Seiken Densetsu 3 (may want a flash cart and a translation patch for this one) Super Bomber Man 5 Super Bomberman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV - Turtles in Time
  16. In that case, the token white guy in the group needs to dress, style, and act as Vash the Stampede. Don't tell me it wouldn't be fun.
  17. This is true; we all are. I did recognize him, though: When I was watching, I said, 'Is that Joey Mercury?" and I ended up wondering how many other people would recognize him. Now don't tell me all of you people besides Cristobal didn't recognize him. Actually, do tell me, because if it's true then I want to know.
  18. Miz/Dolph was probably second best match of the night despite some sloppiness. If there's anything I didn't like on the show... Well, I'm not keen on the idea of a new Nation of Domination, especially if they plan to put all of the black wrestlers in it. Maybe WWE reacted to that article accusing them of being racist? Of course, it could be limited to a few guys, maybe even only the three we saw in the ring tonight. Wait and see, I suppose. But if it leads to a big push for Big E, that's a positive I can get behind. Xavier Woods seems like he's going to be great in this role regardless. He should stick with it even after the group disbands. Oh, oh yeah: Mid/low-card attitude era story-lines. Eww.
  19. STEPHANIE before and while being arrested was probably the best on this night of good things. Best match in a night of good matches was Dean Ambrose vs. Cessaro. Ambrose is the greatest. Hope this means good things coming for Cessaro as well, but I won't hold me breath on that one just in case. Nice rebound Raw after the disappointing PPV/special event?
  20. Heh, I wish it were Hasbro doing the WWE toys. Mattel are terrible and have generally always been. Though the Intellivision had some fine games once you got past the crap controller...
  21. I'll pause from clicking "Like This" on pro Ambrose posts long enough to reply to this. I feel like this "Hollywood Miz" thing has gotten Miz back on the right track. I've disliked Miz for a while now, but recently it's become more of a dislike in the way I'm supposed to dislike him, rather than me wanting him to go away. It's in the character. He just isn't a good fit for being a bad-ass, a rebel, a fun guy, an envious guy, a dangerous guy, a decorated ex-champ, a technician, or anything else they kept trying to cast him as to annoy people in a way he shouldn't have. They've brought him back to being the sneaky, shortcut-taking, delusional, chickenshit type he is good at playing. He just needs an Alex Riley style minion (whose solo push when he turns face isn't blown this time) to complete things. If he keeps the delusions of grandeur about being a Hollywood star who the people deserve to see, it might work. Sorry for any blasphemy involved in the above paragraph; I still thought Bo should have won because I'm a BOLIEVER.
  22. Nick Gage getting a stealth mention was something else. He really is the Titty Master! That article is good stuff! Ambrose is going to be THE breakout star of this generation, and the biggest since John Cena. I still swear to it and I'll keep swearing to it. EDIT: The article is called "The Devil and Dean Ambrose: How The Lunatic Fringe became WWE's most dangerous man" for those who can't find it for whatever reason.
  23. The July 17th episode was generally a pretty good show, I thought. Nothing stands out as being particularly bad. Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Lashley was the highlight and featured good work by both. Also, Jeff Hardy is crazy. That is all.
  24. Never change TNA(Thanks CRZ). The Lashley stuff was good but this felt like a lame duck taping for next week. I have no desire to see Bully vs Rhino in 2014 though. I would love it if that was his new name after the heel turn Yes! Then people could use his changed name to express their surprise over his now villainous actions. "Sananda-tte?!" That's what you were going for, ne?
  25. I knew Aries was going to win the title without reading the spoilers because during the show, they showed a promotional video for a future show that showed Aries with the belt... BEFORE THEY AIRED THIS EPISODE'S TITLE MATCH. Aries vs. Sanada was pretty good, though. Are they really going back to the six-sided ring when it's known the wrestlers dislike it? Hmm. I wish Bram would have run to Abyss instead of vice versa. It's just sad seeing Abyss's painful-looking limp these days. Too bad Bellator doesn't book Lashley. Could have been great cross-promotion between TNA/Bellator. Would be nice if TNA had some Lashley fight footage to show, too. Where is ODB these days? Without her they only have five Knockouts remaining...
