  1. Eh, I think this is true more often than not. I think you'd have to be really passionate about being a wrestler to make it to the level where people want to hear a shoot interview with you. I think the big difference is that unlike 99.9% of wrestlers, Brock didn't grow up as a fan. It's really impressive how quickly he picked it up and how good he is, but it makes for a dull interview about wrestling. I think you have to be some sort of insane to do it, and that requires a passion most people don't have. I think it was Al Snow who talked about you have to be some sort of sadist to get into this business let alone like it. He's right. Low pay, high injury rate, super low chance of success, few if any happy endings. If you look at wrestling from an outsiders perspective, it really makes very little sense as something to do as a goal. It takes a certain type of insanity to go after it.
  2. As a guy who is not hip to things, can someone explain this in a cultural sense? I'm assuming it's something in relation to that rainbow cat, but honestly, I'm lost here. Like what's the deal with the blind unicorn who looks retarded wearing one shoe?
  3. This is the exact opposte of what is being said on Reddit. As I haven 't seen it, god this is confusing.
  4. So I don't think I've seen this mentioned here yet, and serious NSFL warning here.....but this makes me cringe in ways I'm not used to as a fan of wrestling.
  5. The Reddit crowd likes to tell me CZW is something more than a once a year deathmatch tournament and they have "good wrestling matches", from what I learned on here years ago, this is far from the truth. Where are we today, as the last thing I saw from CZW involved one of the stupidest bumps I have ever seen and both guys are probably lucky to be walking/alive.
  6. Good news, everybody! We don't have to listen to this guy anymore! Ban, please. I see the maturity around here is still at Reddit levels despite the fact this board has been around since before Reddit.
  7. Tread lightly, dude, that's Seinfeld you're shitting on. It's more valuable to the company to keep Dixie in her own unprofitable wing rather than allowing her to ruin any of the profitable portions of the business. They can afford it. Seinfeld was never good in my opinion and the clip, while I'm glad others found it amusing, did not help in the discussion and was a waste of my time to watch. Instead of letting her do anything, why not simply remove her? I know a girl who got fired a month ago because she broke $60,000 of material on the job. Why would you let this woman bleed out millions over a decade? Would it not be cheaper just to not spend the money at all or stick it in a basic savings account where it will actually earn money? Isn't there a board that would confront her Dad if it was just nepotism keeping her there? I'm not a fiance guy, so I'm not in the know about how all the write off stuff works but Dave Meltzer said it best, and I'm paraphrasing here, "After all this (the Spike cancellation I think), who in the world would want to work with these people?"
  8. The story of TNA will actually be "Who in the fuck spent all this money to keep this shitty promotion going for so long?" As I get older my interest in wrestling has basically disappeared, but my fascination with the business side of things has grown exponentially. As I follow the story of TNA, it's ratings failure, and utter incompetence by upper management I am very interested in that question. It has to be making money for someone right? Why else would it still be in business otherwise? Every other wrestling organization that wasn't making money is gone. Yet there is so much negative associated the company I can’t grasp how it continues to be profitable. Where is/was the money being made and for whom? Talent has openly complained about not getting paid, ditto for production crew, so where is the profit going? That clip is so accurate in that it explained nothing and I wish I hadn't watched it. Can you explain how it is wise to write off millions of dollars in a venture that seems unprofitable?

  10. I never knew how badly I wanted Scott Steiner to have a job behind the microphone until now. Thank you.
  11. So it didn't make the cut for botchamania, but thanks for helping me make this. It made the gf laugh so that's all that really matters to me.
  12. This is one of those, "this is why I like pro wrestling moments." BTW who is the orange haired beauty?
  13. Am I alone in getting the AWA Tag Team Challenge series vibe?
  14. HHH, shit on by the internet for years, actively trying to help the indies...weird. I'm not saying you are or aren't doing this, but why do people say stuff like this as if it's some kind of evidence that people's past opinions were wrong?I mean yeah, obvious caveat that we don't really know what goes on behind the scenes let alone in Vince's head, but how does NXT being awesome change the fact that Triple H's 20 minute promos were boring as shit, and that far too many of his matches were paint-by-numbers repetitive? How does NXT's stellar booking invalidate opinions about how HHH was booked a decade ago? Is it not highly probable that his priorities as a booker are different than when he was wrestling? Why in the world are you coming to that based of what I said? I just find it strange that a guy who clearly fits Vince's mold, and is a fan of old school guys, is actively going after guys the internet likes, many of whom do not fit the mold of what a typical WWE wrestler looks like. 10 or so years ago, it was almost like pulling teeth to see guys who we're clearly star material elsewhere getting chances in the WWE. I got turned on to Punk circa 2001 thanks to the internet and I knew back then, that guy was money. Yet the numerous muscle head freaks, many of whom had zero interest in wrestling beyond a paycheck, and just flat out sucked at pro wrestling, were given shot after shot while guys like Punk, Daniels, Low-Ki, Samoa Joe, Aj Styles, etc etc etc, we're seemingly just passed over despite actually proving they could draw else where. Hell look at Daniel Bryan and Batista and that was only a short time ago. HHH ultimately might be the downfall of the company, wrestling organizations with wrestlers booking have a nasty history of going out of business, but him having a seemingly very different view on talent compared to Vince while he himself is a Vince type guy, is strange. I'll give Hunter shit for a lot of things, but he clearly understands times have changed and he's not trying to fight it. He seemingly looked at wrestling history and learned something so many failed to grasp. Good for him and the WWE. Now lets just see if he can keep enough space between him and the show without ruining it. Weird doesn't even begin to describe it because the most important chapters are still waiting to happen. He's going to make or break the company over the next decade.

  16. I'm surprised people would think otherwise really because they have an incredible amount in common. I hope they do something musically together because of this. What do you hate humanity enough to wish for something like that?I don't know, perhaps they could have fun making music together, and people might enjoy it. Couldn't be any worse than a guy in his 40's having a enough money to finally fulfill his failed teenage rock fantasies. It could be a lot worse. It could be a guy in his 40's having enough money to finally fulfill his failed teenage rock fantasies... AND Insane Clown Posse. >shudder< They were cool enough for Jack Black to have some fun with them.
  17. I know everyone around here hates Scott Keith, but I thought this from his blog would be total gold.

  20. This is just so god damn satisfying to watch. That prick got what he deserved. I do miss Steve Williams. Yeah, because one guy having a problem with another guy makes it ok for someone to nearly kill him on tv. You're making a large assumption there that Ed Ferrara is, in fact, human. And by your people's logic it probably should have been Vince having that happen to him since he is ultimately responsible for what goes on during his show and he has humilited JR way more than Ed ever did and to a significantly larger audience since, last I recall, a whole lot less people were watching WCW when all that crappy JR stuff happened in WCW. Heck, I'll specualte the idea of making fun of JR's problem was probably Vince's idea in the first place and Ed saw that it bothered him. When Ed and JR's professional relationship dissolved, he probably remembered how much that bothered him, and now that he had a platform to say FU to the guy, that's how he went about doing it. I'm totally fine with Cornette or JR physically trying to beat the hell out of the guy for what he did, but it doesn't warrant a Droz or worse situation. People are assholes. This is not new and not a good reason to try and kill someone. You do realize that, using your own logic, Vince let Ferrera know that this was coming. Ferrera also knew who was going to be doing it. Also, that wasn't Ziggler or Miz out there with "Big Ed." That was Steve Williams. If Dr. Death wanted to legit cripple Ed Ferrera, he would have. He didn't. End of line. And I'm sure Ed said, "Yeah Steve, just dump me on my head and almost kill or paralyze me, I'm sure it will look good and feel totally great." Since it is Steve WIlliams doing it, I'm possibly even more disgusted because hurting people is not the point of being a prowrestler, and with it being him, he should have no problem making that move safe for the other guy. Aren't you supposed to take a bump for a suplex on your back? That's how I've seen numerous other guys take them. Cena being my most recent memory of one.

  22. Let's see 'em dance to... I want a diet coke now.
  23. Based on the famous Jericho anecdote, should any numbers be seen as credible?HATED that story for years as I always looked at it being something Jericho over exaggerated. Then again, Sullivan recently has claimed that Hogan got 50% of all live show merchandise so maybe there actually was something there to it. You really don't think a corporation would do shady and hard to prove things in order to make their top talent happy and probably cut down on cost to other talent?
