I didn't ever need to see Mark Strong in a boxing ring. Even for a TV show, he is....dreadful.

Wrestling Observer/Meltzer Ominbus Thread

Too bad this wasn't a free show. Sounds like Dave pulled a HHH. He had a reason to do it. Bryan went with the old "maybe he mixed things up" argument. -
Dave Chappelle: Stil Crazy After All These Years
Elsalvajeloco replied to Ellsworth Toohey's topic in MOVIES & TV
Many of the older, black comedians feel that way though. Maybe it's just a coincidence that the black comics who believe that actually support Dave's decision to walk away while the others with 1/10th the talent talk about they would have done this and that. Maronzio Vance (best known now as the Miller Light commercial guy) always tells the story of the time Katt Williams verbally eviscerated Brandon T.Jackson backstage at a show for supporting Martin Lawrence for wearing a dress. Then, Kevin Hart goes on SNL, puts on a dress, and a certain fraternity of black comics come down on him. You can chalk it up as homophobia, jealousy, bitterness, but I feel there is some credence to that theory. I would feel different if it was young comics with that belief, but not when it is comics that have been doing it for fifteen and twenty years. I will say this, I think Dave bringing this theory to light is on the weird side, but I do raise a suspicious eye to the number of male black actors who wear dresses. It's not something that (when a person brings it up) comics who don't like it are very mum about. They tend to be very vocal about it. Dave has done some bizarre shit, but I don't personally believe that goes on the list. He was just saying how several people feel about that particular aspect of the industry. -

Ben Henderson's right arm is fine and he can go back to training immediately, but Jacare might be out for a little while until he gets his right foot cleared.

2013: UPCOMING MOVIES/CASTING/RUMORS/ETC
Elsalvajeloco replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in MOVIES & TV
You do realize that's Don Johnson's daughter? Oh, God. There is no way I can watch that movie and not feel weird. I guess it's worth mentioning here that Tom Hiddleton will replace Benedict Cumberbatch as the lead in Guillermo del Toro's new gothic ghost thingie, Crimson Peak. You're replacing an awesome guy with another awesome guy. Normally that would be an exciting announcement but it its a zero sum gain, so it does not jazz me as much as it should. Unless Cumberbatch dropping out changed plans, it's suppose to start shooting in late January. I just hope they give del Toro a decent budget. -

David Fincher saw Tyler Perry in Alex Cross and then casted him in Gone Girl with Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, and Neil Patrick Harris. Can't make that shit up. -

Well, it's coming out in early February. You'll probably forget about by the time the summer movies come out if it's crappy. -

Nope, Dave is a comedy robot incapable of human emotion or forethought. -
Not their worst individually: http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2012/12/the-ultimate-fighter-16-ratings-episode-no-12-draws-678000-viewers Damn, I stand corrected. Is it crazy I barely remember TUF 16? TUF 16 was pretty forgettable so its understandable. Colton Smith doesn't look like he will be amounting to much as it is. Ricci vs. Smith is the only TUF final I haven't watched. That's saying something.

Dave Chappelle: Stil Crazy After All These Years
Elsalvajeloco replied to Ellsworth Toohey's topic in MOVIES & TV
He wasn't expected to do anything besides continue producing his program. Again, from what I've read, CC was ready to give him $50M to do his show the way he wanted; there was no pressure for him to use any specific topic of comedy, he had complete creative control. And don't give me that "doorway for white boys" line when CC was reluctant to air a bunch of his sketches, including blind white supremacist from the very first episode, because THEY felt he was crossing too many lines. No one is ever asked to "shucks and jive" for eight figures. I really don't know what to make of your Jay-Z/Kanye and whiteboys ipod comment. I guess the only legitimate black artists are the "starving" ones? Looks like the only ones who really get music are you and Christgau. Chappelle's "meltdown" had nothing to do with artistic integrity or any of that bullshit. To use the parlance of this forum, he was a smark who found out his audience was mostly marks. It was still real to him, damnit~~! This all pretty much contradicts anything Neal Brennan has said on the matter. I have no idea about Brennan's take on the matter, I'm going on what Dave himself has said. His stated reason for quitting the show was because he didn't feel comfortable with the "type" of laughs his show was eliciting. It isn't when you're getting the ratings Chappelle's Show was. Again, CC were the ones originally who wanted to "tone down" the show, Dave had complete creative control. No, it's still crazy to believe. -

I had low expectations going in because of people already shitting on the suit when the photo leaked during filming. But it's only a trailer. -

I think we've reached the quota for exclamation marks in this thread. Anyway, it would be crazy to believe that anyone is getting paid $50 million with absolutely no stipulations other than do a show. -
