  2. Also, it represented a 30% drop from the first PBC on Fox show in January in terms of ratings. Even when they do entertaining fights, PBC can't draw an audience.

  4. Amir Khan says a lot of ridiculous things. You can find several in that quote.
  5. Josh Thomson is out of his fight with Michael Chandler.
  6. It's weird that the Showtime fights tonight had a close fight that could have been a draw ultimately having two wide scorecards and a fight that wasn't that close ruled a majority draw. Either way, we still end up with DeGale vs. Jack unifying their belts at super middleweight.
  7. Much like Meaney's stand-up routine, Uncle Buck is best left in the 80s.
  8. Reason #138 Not to Go to Russia: Former UFC fighters walking around as contract killers
  9. Derrick Lewis vs. Roy Nelson is on the 7/7 Fight Pass card as well.
  10. James Vick is replacing Leonardo Santos against Evan Dunham on the UFC 199 card. Anthony Birchak vs. Dileno Lopes has been added to the 7/7 Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez card.
  11. If the UFC decides to do 125, that would pretty pull the carpet out from Bellator's plans especially if they're both competing for a small pool of talent. Without Cyborg (or Gina), it pretty much put a bow on Bellator's plans on featherweight. You can tell that by Coenen vs. Budd being a title fight on the prelims. With there being people dropping down from bantamweight (D'Alelio and Roxy) and a couple other prominent 125ers in Invicta, the UFC would pretty much have first dibs. They don't want flyweight because it's too shallow. However, if it means blowing up Bellator's plans (like putting Cyborg on random UFC cards going forward), then they will gladly do that. This is more fly in the ointment than trying to do something build future talent.
  12. Solution for being the team with the fewest takeaways: Draft someone with 3 collegiate INTs. Yup.
  13. A Hard Day?! ...So now I have to enter the contest. The line has been drawn.
  14. Diego Brandao has been cut from the UFC following his felony arrest.
  15. Valerie Letourneau will fight Joanne Calderwood on the UFC Ottawa card at 125 lbs. They're supposedly not starting a new division, but could be experimenting with allowing the females to have fights outside their division.
  16. Joseph Duffy will return against Mitch Clarke on the Dos Anjos-Alvarez card on July 7.
  17. Counterpoint: Joe Wright Sometimes, it's just better to go with your gut.
  18. Fair enough. For me, this little quasi four man tournament (should Teixeira vs. Rumble happen this summer as well) is the path to that. So for him to beat Cormier, who I believe could also whoop on most heavyweights still, again and then probably beat Rumble to cement him cleaning out the division is special to me. It's different than what Mighty Mouse did because that was circumstances beyond his control that didn't make it favorable for his legacy. That can only look good on paper if dudes like Horiguchi and Cejudo wreck shop years down the line. Jones, on other hand, would've pretty much beat multiple generations of light heavyweights (including folks who had success at middleweight and heavyweight) and did it all without that much trouble save for one fight (and pending what could happen against Rumble). So if going forward with Cormier again to get the title back brings those potential HW matchups, I am down for that.
  19. I wouldn't read too much into that, whether he was serious or not. The only thing that matter is timing. You can say anything about a card that's seven months out. At the very earliest, you probably hear something concrete by late May or early June. But April? Yeah, that's something else entirely. I think he might not fight on the card other reasons. If McGregor decides to fight in August or September, that would probably rule him out for November because you can't call a quick turnaround just like that and the UFC likes to book main events before a certain timeframe. Another one is that they could already have something earmarked for that event and probably wouldn't make sense to just throw McGregor on there for the hell of it. I went over a lot of options that they have two weeks ago. Any combo of those easily makes a compelling first show for NYS.
  20. All they did was essentially swap main events. That is assuming that McGregor still desires to fight after basically losing a public negotiation he decided to make public.
