Hey I got Paramount+ a little while ago (about a week before the name change) and here's what I've watched so far, in this order:

Star Trek Discovery: I didn't love it but I thought it was good enough.  Sonequa Martin-Green frequently gets close to being the worst, weakest part of the show and her ACTING~! get fearfully close to Claire Danes' cryface on many occasions.  But the show has some fun ideas, a great supporting cast, and a lot of cool stuff.  Jumping to the distant future in the third season is a little crazy but they had to write the Discovery out of Star Trek history somehow, so it's cool enough, I guess.  Hey, it has the Fish Man from Shape of Water in it, too.  I definitely liked it better than...

Picard: Oof, what a mess.  Just a cynical cash grab written to lure Star Trek fans who loved TNG, think Picard is the second coming, and will just go with whatever.  The Federation is a bunch of petty goobers and the "hope" that's always been part of Star Trek is gone.  It's more "Patrick Stewart: The Series" than about the Picard character.  And the characterization of Picard is terrible.  He's an arrogant jerk who thinks everyone will listen to him and follow him, to their deaths if necessary, because he's the legendary Picard.  There's nothing deeper to the character and it's ridiculous.  You think he'll learn eventually, but in the penultimate episode he's speechifying to androids about how Starfleet, who has blown him off several times already, will listen to him and lift the android ban for no other reason than the fact that he is Picard, living legend and ultimate speechifier.  There is absolutely no character growth whatsoever, because the writers figure he's a perfect being with no growth to be had.  And then the terminal illness that's been hanging over him the entire series is wiped away as his mind is transferred to an android in the end.  What the ever loving fuck.  I could write more but fuck it.  Bad, bad show.

The Stand: Only one episode in but come on.  Why does everything need to be told non-chronologically, via flashbacks, now?  Fuck Lost and the bullshit storytelling contrivances it unleashed.

I'll second Why Women Kill and also add that my wife and I enjoyed Interrogation.

  2. I'm guessing sleepwalking?  My daughter did this regularly when she was little.  I don't know if this was the right approach, but I'd always let her talk for however long it took(usually less than 5 minutes) and then say "Ok baby, let's go back to bed."  Most of the time she'd just turn right around and head to her room on her own, a few times I had to carry her back.  But she'd get in bed, get her bunny she slept with, and go right back to sleep.  She'll be 13 in a couple of months and there really hadn't been any issues for a couple of years now.  Until last week.  She came out to the living room about 12:30 in the morning saying she was mad because she needed to reset her alarm clock.  I had her sit down and finish telling me what the problem was and told her I thought it would be ok.  Normally she remembers nothing about these episodes, but the next day I started to ask her about it and she immediately said "Did I come out to the living room last night?  Talking about my alarm clock?"  She actually remembered most of the conversation.  Hopefully what your child goes through will be a similar experience.  The only real fear we ever had was stairs.  Our daughter started sleepwalking at around age 2, when we still lived in a townhouse style apartment with the bedrooms upstairs.  We put a baby gate at the top of the stairs as a precaution(which damn near killed me a couple of times nearly tripping over it) and luckily never had any accidents.  This is a girl who is clumsy by nature and takes poor angles when walking and might bump into a door frame, corner of a countertop, a chair etc, but she always navigated walking in the dark without any issues when sleepwalking.

Maybe it will be an isolated incident, it always seemed to happen most often if our daughter was over tired, so maybe be on a bit of alert on nights where you feel your kid is more tired than normal?  I hope everything works out fine.  If your experience works out anything like ours, you'll be able to laugh about some of the goofy things your child says, like the time my daughter came out and proclaimed "I'm here to help with the cows!".

Edit: Now I realize I totally misread " bluuuhhhipoiajpoijhpgoiewrsdfjdnsbnwssdjpgweirupoyiwpjhwe" as gibberish, not puking.  My bad, carry on.

Niners center (and former Giant) Weston Richburg is retiring citing injuries (he probably read the writing on the wall with San Fran signing Alex Mack this offseason)

It's been known for a couple of months that he was going to retire, he just waited until after June 1st to help the Niners cap situation.

My daughter is the valedictorian of Henrico High School in the RVA!  I am going to buy a new suit this weekend.  I cannot go to her graduation looking less than 100% pimp.

Congratulations to your daughter, that is awesome!

  5. Unless I'm mistaken, the A's only asked the city of Oakland for $855 million in infrastructure improvements for the area.  The $12 billion figure is what the A's are saying they'll invest between building the stadium and surrounding area(housing, shopping, restaurants, etc.), though the term sheet only requires the stadium to be built.

You have to think that at some point they just throw their hands up and premier it on Disney+.

I have $30 waiting for the taking if they would just put Black Widow on Disney+.  We can have a pizza delivered and watch in comfort at home and probably spend less for pizza and the movie than three tickets and hitting the concession stand.

Beathard displaying that oh so sexy Basic-Level-Professional-Competence that I've missed so much

I'd like to know where this blocking has been all season.  Mullens isn't very good, but he wasn't getting much time at all to try and throw the ball.  Pass rush has been better this week it seems as well, not sure where that came from either.

  8. Just my wife, daughter and I this year instead of the 25-30 person standard family get together we have with my mom's family.  Normally my wife takes the week of Thanksgiving off, but this year she couldn't.  Since she has to work through Wednesday, we're kind of cheating and ordering two family meals from Cracker Barrel to pickup Wednesday and reheat on Thursday--country fried turkey with two sides of dumplings and meatloaf with two sides of fried apples.  I'm making my apple, sausage and cornbread dressing along with green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and cranberry relish.  We've got a Patti LaBelle sweet potato pie and tiramisu for dessert.   It's going to be different this year for sure.

My Uncle with Dementia passed away yesterday. You knew it was coming soon but it still sucks. I'll likely say something on Facebook at some point. 2020...This fucking year.

I'm so sorry to hear this my friend.  My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Jimmy missed wide open Bourne in the end zone that could have won the game.  Fuck he was awful today.

Is face guarding not a thing any more?  Peterson had his back to the ball and was blocking Bourne's ability to see on the throw to the end zone, at least I thought it looked that way.  Not having Deebo's big play ability to account for really hurt today, Kittle getting banged up early on didn't help matters either.

I could post a screen shot of my Fitbit's weight tracking, but my weight is either the same or small drops day by day. I attribute it to a very, very strict eating schedule and diet. If I wasn't fasting then I think there would be more fluctuation, but it's remarkably consistent. Even still, I only accept my Wednesday weight as my official weight and I compare each Wednesday to the previous one. The last time I saw a bump in my weight was when I took an edible for the first time and ate a whole deep dish keto pizza. I felt awful the next day, as one would if they ate over a lbs. of cheese and god knows how much almond flour.

Tell me more about this keto deep dish pizza.
