  1. Jonah's one of the top guys here in Australia, but most promotions here don't have much in the way of full matches online, as Video On Demand has taken off here. His home promotion, Wrestle Rampage in Adelaide is only just starting to get stuff online, Here's an excellent match with him facing Damian Slater from the CWC Also a fun match with him facing AJ Istria a few years back in Qld. Plus, his feud with Mr Juicy last year was suitably awesome, two 300+ monsters just beating the fuck out of each other. Jonah's promo's in that time frame were awesome too. TK Cooper is going to kill it as well. He and Dahlia Black have been on fire in Australia the last few months and from what I hear their work in New Zealand has been similar. His feud with Dowie James in Melbourne City Wrestling gave two epic matches as good as anything i've seen this year, never seen a more rabid crowd on an indy show. Side note, with a bit of luck Dowie is someone who'll hopefully get some opportunities down the line from Banks, Cooper and Jonah going to the US and UK, dude's work is phenomenal.
  2. Ah awesome! It was really cool going to the screening All Star Comics put on, just a really fun laid back vibe. I'd agree with your views, though I think on second viewing it might jump a bit higher. And yeah, the ending was so good. Also the final scene of Kraglin may be the funniest laugh out loud scene Marvel has done since Hulk rag dolled the shit out of Loki.
  3. Guardians 2 was released here in Australia last night, so I went along to one of the first screenings here in Melbourne. Personally, I loved it. Possibly a bit biased due to my being a fanboy for the comics themselves, but it was a lot of fun. The art style was stunning and for me kinda reminded me of being a kid and seeing the sort of art I discovered reading old copies of Heavy Metal and 2000AD. Story wise, the two most engrossing characters for me were Yondu and Drax. Michael Rooker really brings the character to life and the side story of his involvement with The Ravagers and how it relates back to Peter himself is one of the strongest parts of the film. Also, Big Dave is fucking awesome in this, not as big a surprise after the first one but his comic timing is just perfect and he brings a lot of humanity and heart to what could be a very shallow character. I could and probably will go see this at a cinema again and love it.
  4. This. Only just gotten around to watching the last 2 shows, Fight Club is my fave promotion anywhere nowadays. The Banks vs Dunne title match from the second night with all the run ins, storyline tie ins and the insane crowd reaction is perfect pro wrestling.
  5. https://vimeo.com/100005783 Good old Vimeo comes through with the hookup!
  6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjIFYyCWS3g Not sure on how to embed the actual clip into the post, but this is the first memory I have of really digging wrestling. As a 9 year old weirdo kid into comic books and watching old horror movies on TV, 'Taker was the coolest. Even some 25 years later, that whole "Who's side are you on?" - "Not yours!" exchange gives me chills as a fanboy.
  7. I don't see her getting signed due to her age and injury history, but for this sort of event Madison Eagles has to be an entrant,
  8. Said the same on Twitter, but that video is pretty much perfect and has me psyched to see the match itself now.
  9. Jack Gallagher vs Tyler Bate Ask and you shall receive. It's only a single camera angle, but a fun match. There's also a good 10 minute Gallagher vs Moloney match from the same promotion too.
  10. Will watch! Love me some CWF, it's amazing that the whole NC indy scene has gained a bit of a following here in Australia the last year or so. I blame Snes talking it up when she returns from her annual trips haha. On a similar vein, just watched PWX's X16 tournament. Good quality stuff, Hollis vs Riddle was excellent. Ethan Case and Anthony Henry are really good too
  11. It's weird too, the crowd was pretty loud for the majority of the Melbourne show, though the constant 10 chants in every match got really old fast. Also went to the Sydney show earlier this week. Which was a really fun show. Tozawa def Almas in a really fun match, crowd loved Tozawa. Almas is so much more entertaining as a heel too. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce def Aliyah and Liv Morgan. Kay and Royce got one of the biggest reactions of the show, nothing they did could make the crowd boo them. Even when they denounced their hometown of Sydney and said they wanted to be announced as hailing from Orlando, the crowd loved them. Liv is pretty good, Aliyah isn't bad but she's so small and her movements just make her look really timid. Oney Lorcan def Wesley Blake in a good match. Blake is solid and seeing Biff live was cool. Crowd was a little restless due to not really knowing or caring about either, but warmed up when they saw that these guys were going all out to win the crowd over. Patrick Clark challenging Oney to an impromptu match and then losing within 30 seconds was entertaining sports entertainment bullshit. Clark is great on the mic, using local insults to goad Oney into the match, his entrance, the whole deal. DIY vs The Revival was fantastic as you'd expect. They went 20+ minutes and just told a story that drew the crowd in and had the place going nuts by the time they started with the close nearfalls. The Revival had a weird thing on this tour where the crowd loved them, but the nastier they were the crowd didn't boo them, but instead just cheered DIY more. All of the double team moves and nearfall saves were so well done with Ciampa beating Dawson with the armbar. TM61 def Sabbatelli/Moss in a so so match. Crowd loved TM61 obviously but couldn't have given a shit about the other two. Match was fine, but the crowd never really got into it. Asuka retaining her title against Ember Moon was an excellent match as you'd expect. If/when they do this match on a Takeover special they're going to blow minds. Really cool counters and athletic spots, plus they beat the shit out of each other. Ember's tope is something else too, she just sprinted at full speed and hit Asuka like a bullet. Main event of Shinsuke/Dillinger and Murphy def Joe/Roode/Samson was what it was. Elias Samson is a king on the mic. When the crowd started booing that the main was a 6 man instead of the advertised Shinsuke/Joe/Tye/Roode 4 way he stated that it was changed per his request, before doing an awful cover of Back In Black on his guitar. If anything, his schtick and playing to the crowd meant that he was cheered mostly by the end of the match. Match itself was okay, Nakamura looked beaten up and Joe did very little so i'm assuming that the match was changed due to the beating they gave each other in the cage. Murphy got some cheers and a fair few boos due to his being from Melbourne and the interstate rivalry with Sydney, but he won the crowd over by taking a beating whenever he was in. Shinsuke got the win on Samson and the crowd went home happy, Shinsuke thanking the crowd, using some Aussie slang and doing his pose with Tye before making Murphy do it as well by kicking his legs out was amusing.
  12. Very cool to see Damian Slater on this stage, he's someone i've seen wrestle in Australia quite a bit over the last decade or so. Would've been nice if he'd had more chance to show his personality, as he usually excels at being the sort of smug dickhead you want to see get punched in the face. In terms of experience, aside from working for the majority of the good promotions here, he has spent some time working and training with Jesse Hernandez in California which for a time was a common stop for Aussie wrestlers headed to the US, plus he spent a bit of time in Zero 1 as Ocean Neal as well. Overall, i'm still looking forward to every episode, it's cool seeing lesser known talents getting a chance to shine among bigger names. I really liked Mustafa Ali, between this and his recent match with Jonathon Gresham for Freelance Wrestling, i'm really keen to see more of his work.
  13. I voted for Thatcher, partially as a pity vote, but also due to his work being fantastic over the last year. Shinsuke is awesome and will probably go quite far in the tournament, but I can't help but think he's a bit hit and miss at times. He's awesome on the big shows sure, but i've seen some other matches where it looks like he's doing the bare minimum to get by too.
  14. So with the run of Soundwave festival shows done in Australia, it's good to see that Killer Be Killed lived up to the hype. I saw their fourth and sixth show's respectively and thought they were fantastic, Not having Dave Elitch make the tour was a bit of a bummer, but Ben Koller from Converge was a more than able replacement, plus have Juan from MonstrO as an extra live guitarist, allowing Greg Puciato to do his usual vocal thing was a good choice.
