I’ve been tempted to get a floor seat for Austin since my wife isn’t going now and those things have been my main reason why I’m hesitant. The counter is trying to be along the edge of a row by where Mox makes an entrance or where a brawl might pass by.

I think she’s learning things, but her processing and incorporating of those things is slow because she doesn’t get to practice in real contexts. When she doesn’t have a squash, you can see her looking like a junior high school kid in a play, reciting lines instead of being a character speaking them. Stopping and looking for where their next mark is. I’m not sure if she had done any wrestling training prior to being signed and on TV, but one benefit about coming up through indies is that you learn to bump and sell and work with your opponent before you learn to do big moves. She did show some improvement, if I recall correctly she had a surprisingly decent match with Anna Jay. But since then she’s hit another wall and reverted to mostly squashes where she makes her opponents look like shit. She had a glorified squash with Athena, which was a fantastic learning opportunity. Her matches with Willow are competitive in the sense that Willow gets to hit one big move and get a flash near-fall before the kip-up, pump kick, Jaded.

Decided to watch this and the Shafir match made me uncomfortable, she looked like she was taking some liberties after some awkward early moments. It’s hard to tell since Shafir is so reckless with her throws but also is working that shooter gimmick but she was doing some really hard throws at weird angles and definitely was rubbing her shin hard onto one of the sisters’ face on the ropes.

I feel like he said something even worse and more sexist than “jezebel” that had me wincing but I don’t recall now and I don’t feel like watching either of last night’s women’s matches again ever.

I think Tony is seeing if the juice is worth the squeeze, so to speak. They’ve built him up for years as a special attraction, given him basically everything he’s asked for including almost unlimited promo time and freedom, put him over Punk and Danielson, spent who knows how much for a one time use of Sympathy for the Devil, and now made him the top guy. If it doesn’t pop ratings or PPV buys, there may not be a bidding war of 2024.

Got a bonus from work a while back and decided to splurge on the AEW crate, especially given the names they said would be included in the first box. Just got it today and I’m pleased with it. It’s definitely a great value, the two shirts alone would cost more than the cost of the quarterly crate. Couple of things I don’t want or need that I can trade or give away.

Just watched the March 30th show. Highlight of course was Athena-Emi. Blake Christian and El Hijo de Vikingo had a great match with some mind-melting spots but also lots of striking and grappling. Darius taking the pin in the 8-man tag has me wondering if Top Flight was supposed to win at the PPV and they had to call an audible because of Dante. There’s really nothing interesting about Lucha Brothers being champs other than their history with the Briscoes. Eddie-Daniels made me realize how much I miss Eddie being in TV. Really feels like they missed their moment with him at the PPV, especially if they’re going to have Claudio with BCC feuding with the Elite on the AEW shows. The rest was fine if nothing particularly memorable.

One more drunk post: Orange Cassidy was Wrestler of the Quarter for Q1 2023 and in terms of US TV I’m not sure it was even close.

True and she’s been a little wild in her YouTube matches but it also seemed like Jade was constantly not quite in her spot while also very obviously thinking about where she was supposed to be. Both of the women’s matches tonight were slow motion messes.

Also I’ve been drinking some but Darby-Moriarty is going to get my vote for Free TV match of the week. If I were one to do stars, that would be approaching 5*

Jade doesn’t really know how to sell or bump. The crowd was turning on her some towards the end.

So, I’m thinking Billie Starkz has wrestled more matches than Jade, Julia, and Anna Jay combined?

That's how I was interpreting it as well. The quarter-hours are a rolling average over the 15 minutes?

First, Sting's retirement match is a humongous deal and while I know they need to sell a ton of tickets, I just can't see Sting wrestling his final match outside of the States. What's a big venue in Atlanta they could have that in? Maybe they can do like Muta's final show and start with him and Darby tagging and Sting getting one last big pin/win, immediately followed by Sting telling Darby "C'mon kid, you've earned it" and having a quick singles match where he does the time-honored tradition.

Fine, he’s an acrobatic clown who goes viral for doing dumb stunts for 4channers. He can go fuck himself for the suicide forest video.

Hell no to Logan fucking Paul. Leave the clowns at the circus. Take out that and Goldberg and I really like it.

He's been at multiple shows, and on All Access when they showed a flashback to Grand Slam he was in that same fucking spot with the same type of signs. That might have been when I said that Tony needed to come out with security, hand they guy his money back, and walk him to the cheap seats.

So, on Friday’s short notice Battle of the Belts VI we get Jade Cargill vs. Billie Starkz in a unique situation where the high school senior will be calling and carrying the match because she has more than 5 times as many matches as the second-tier champion. TIME TO SHOCK THE WORLD, COACH TONY K!

I marked pretty hard for Darby in the rafters.

It really did work out for AEW that wrestling fans have really been desperate for a big babyface win and he happened to have one of the most popular tag teams in the world set up in that spot for redemption.

I actually thought the trios match was great! Really hit on all cylinders, fun, excellent storytelling. FTR-Gunns was a really great story and an excellent match. Colten is really becoming a good wrestler, and Austin is, well, a really good cheesedick heel. Sammy-Komander was a spot fest but not a good one other than Sammy’s perfect timing on the kick outside the ring when Komander did his first long rope walk spot. I will say Komander made the GTH look the best it ever has. Called Hook-Ethan perfectly. Hayter-Riho was a really good match, even if I am just never going to be able to buy Riho as a legitimate threat to a huge, strong opponent. Also, no interference! Also, who would’ve guessed that Ruby Soho would be the best promo of the Outcasts? Starks-Robinson was everything I didn’t want, and it’s weird that they’re acting like Jay White wasn’t on AEW before. Tony’s announcement was a legitimately huge announcement for AEW and a surprise. MJF’s bullshit killed my enthusiasm after that solid first hour, and I’m pretty sure it went way over 15 minutes. Thank god for the mute button. I like BCC bringing carnage but they maybe should’ve workshopped the whole “amateurs” line more, it’s pretty dumb.

I gotta say, I may have to stop talking mental trash about Evil Uno if he can carry Cesar Bononi to a great match.

Trios match would be more interesting to me as a bunch of singles matches. FTR-Gunns has some intrigue and FTR could carry Gunns to a good match. Sammy-Komander will be a fun spotfest. Will Hook-Ethan Page be the culmination of Matt Hardy's not-so-subtle betrayal plan? Maybe. Will it be a good match? Magic 8-ball says "Outlook not so good" Hayter-Riho is face vs. face and is somehow going to involve the Outcasts, but should be an excellent match until that happens. Starks-Robinson is going to tell a lot of story and be a solid match. Please tell me they're not going to try and do a Bullet Club angle. Is this when Tony announces the Saturday show? Setting the over-under on MJF-day segment at 15 minutes.
