  1. Funny, tons of people online are bitching about the lineup. I think it's mostly metal/hardcore types though. They've never sold out of 3-day passes as far as I know, but they have sold out (as in hit capacity) a couple of single days, like the first Slayer appearance. Also they have a payment plan, so you don't have to come up with $200 all at once.
  2. FunFunFun Fest announces their 10th year lineup with a video featuring Bill Nye the Science Guy. My take: headliners aren't the strongest, but the undercards of the Orange (indie rock) and Black (punk/HC/metal) stages are amazing. Blue stage continues its downward slide to appeal to EDM kids.
  3. Angus has a good bit of this.
  4. Tangential, but this is a really interesting NYT interactive piece on the 1990 first round draft class. First one with underclassmen, also before the signing bonuses and salaries got crazy. A few sad stories, including Seau.
  5. Since Packers have been covered, I'll just say that as a Texas Longhorns fan, having a player actually drafted this year will be nice. And if Malcom Brown drops out of the 1st Rd. I'll be pissed.
  6. watched the first 3 episodes and am just struggling to get into it. Have 2 or 3 episodes on DVR right now and my girlfriend and I haven't quite decided whether to watch or delete them. I dunno, show feels like it's trying too hard and full of cliches to me.
  7. Glad you both liked it. You had to be careful. I remember Marvel spoiled the Winter Soldier's identity in a video. A blurb from a review of the film on Rotten Tomatoes spoilt the big Robert Redford plot development. My Dad didn't know but figured it out at the screening before the reveal. There were gasps at the screening when the Winter Soldier loses his googles/lower face cover in action and you see him unmasked. EDIT: A best friend of mine didn't know either until he watched it on DVD. I'm not a comic book reader, so I had no idea, and I still didn't know until they said the name.
  8. So, does iZombie go in this thread or the Movie/TV Comics subfolder? Because I really like that show. Sure, it's basically Veronica Mars except she's a zombie with a twist, but who didn't want more Veronica Mars?
  9. I saw Unbreakable twice, while riding the first class bus from Mexico City to Oaxaca City. It was subbed in Spanish, so I got many a giggle at "Senor Vidrio". I remember thinking it was alright, probably Shillelagh-man's best. I would say that 90% of my "sick" days are "hungover" days, "out too late at a show and tired" days, and "can't bring myself to GAF" days (aka mental health days).
  10. I've tried re-watching some Tim Burton stuff recently and yeah, it's all pretty much terrible, except Edward Scissorhands (edited to add Beetlejuice, duh) and maybe Big Fish. Then again, the last movie of his I saw and really liked was Big Fish, so...
  11. April 4th, Stevie Wonder (my favorite musician of all time) performing Songs in the Key of Life at the (horrible) Frank Erwin Center. I've only seen him once, at ACL Fest. I was close enough to hear him (they had sound problems and bleedover if you were more than a certain distance from the stage) and it was really good, but I hated the people around me and being packed in like a sardine. So this will be much nicer.
  12. Levitation does look pretty amazing, I'm hoping to win tickets and if not I'll at least get a one-day pass for the JaMC performance. Funny thing, the "ranch" is within the Austin city limits and about 1.5 miles from my office as the crow flies.
  13. it's been on my FB feed a few times, nice work! My friend was in a semi-popular Houston ska-punk band and loved it.
  14. All of the bands I would care to see from both those lineups would barely fill a day-long concert, and of those Ride is the only one I haven't seen before.
  15. I watched it this past weekend and that was pretty much all of the things I said to my girlfriend while/after watching it.
  16. Randle if Murray can't go and Stewart, then Asiata, then Herron.
  17. Texas being in a down period accompanied by high ticket prices is another example. Easily 10,000+ unsold seats per game this season.
  18. In my biggest money league, where I'm in first place, most of my team shit the bed hard yesterday, as in like 8 points total from my running backs and Aaron Rodgers being miserable. However, Dez Bryant and Connor Barth went off, and my opponent had an even bigger bedshitting, and I made it to the championship. Hell, I might break even this year!
  19. Also, the posse cut started out as an amazing treat. Nowadays, with every track being Yung X (feat Y-Dawg, Z Money, Swagga Q, 2 Silly, etc) they're essentially meaningless. I might even argue that the posse cut (and bastardization of the Wu-Tang model) led to the current state of hip-hop where being able to drop more than 16 bars is considered mad skills.
